Let’s start by saying that for $ 100 meal we could have done much better than this place. The service was average. We entered the restaurand and walked up to the hostess podium and stood the for a few minuets looking like fools until what looked like a table busser came to seat us. I was there with my fiancé and we were looking to have a nice quiet meal. Not off to a good start. The waiter was a little awkward and annoying. Saw the menu and were impressed at first until we tried to order. They were OUT of steaks! They didnt mention this when they sat us and gave us our menus. Seriously what kind of restaurant downtown in the theater district doesn’t have steaks on a friday night. Honestly we should of got up and left at this point. Your only options were pasta, poultry, and seafood oh and pizzas. They had a menu that had a choise of two salads, 4 main course selections two with steak(which we couldn’t order) and two that were exactly the same but one included brochett shrimp and the other had an extra crab cake, and two desert options. So disappointed. The food was alright; you could tell it wasn’t fresh but frozen and reheated. It tasted like something I could have bought at a grocery store took home and heated in the microwave. Their wine was way over priced. I mean my glass of house cab was $ 9. We’ve dined at Brenners on the Bayou(5 star steak house) on several occasions and thier house cab is $ 8 a glass. Furthmore we were there between 7:15 till about 8:30. It was as dead as a doornail. There were maybe 6 tops total in the entire restaurant with a few people sitting at the bar. We were seated in the front of the store near the hostess podiem and the hostess was having a conversation on her cell phone constantly walking in and out of the front door. The decore looked like the set of cheers and the haunted mansion attraction at Disney World had a baby in the ’90’s. This place is a joke. Dont spend your hard earned money here.

I was there on Sunday for brunch. The food was fine, server was excellent, However the music duo playing was terrible. We were all the way in the back and it was like nails on a chalkboard. It was if the woman thought she was actually performing for an audience. Background music it was not.

We ended up here tonight before the theater as it was one of the only places nearby where we could get last minute reservations on a Saturday night. The low rating on here almost scared us away, but I’m so glad we went! They had our table waiting for us and we were seated right away even though our full party wasn’t there yet. The service was fantastic! The caesar salad was delicious, as was the chicken parmesan and the chicken piccata. The desserts looked amazing but sadly we didn’t leave enough time before the show to be able to order dessert. We look forward to going back next time we have an event downtown.

The food here is average. I have had some good entrees and others that have fallen short. The calimari is a great starter you can’t go wrong ordering. I also recommend the Pasta Poretti as it is consistently good and has a little bit of a unique spice. The chicken parmesan is good but nothing special and the sausage with fettucini has been dry when I ordered it. There are some good finds but others that are disappointing. Service is usually pretty good and they have been nice and quick on every occassion. We live close so we sometimes pick up and take it home. They are on Groupon. They have an option for take-out, but when I went to pick up one time the worker stated it was not for takeout. I would be sure to call ahead to ensure they take it or screen shot where it states that take-out is acceptable. They let me use the coupon, but still a minor hiccup.

Pretty terrible service. Sat at the bar around 10 pm on a Monday night and the bartender seemed overwhelmed. The restaurant wasn’t packed nor was the bar but he couldn’t seem to take anyone’s orders. Placed an order for garlic bread and a side of meatballs with another server who said it would take five minutes. 15 minutes later he comes out with the garlic bread, drops it off, and leaves. Had to call him back to get our other plate. Two meatballs that looked boiled with a little marinara on top that just slid off the meatballs. Food is subpar. Better service at McDonald’s. Never got a refill on our waters or checked on to see how we were doing. Bathroom was deplorable and we were told we couldn’t use it. Band playing so loud I almost didn’t come into the place. Couldn’t get the check to get out of this hell hole so we just left what we thought would cover the bill and left. Glad I never bought a groupon to this place because then I’d have had to suffer through a several hour ordeal.

A group of 15 of us went after a show. there were two wait staff. The main waiter set our expectation and the other took our drink and food orders. It did take a while for the kitchen to get our food out(all 15 I might add). My only real issue was the Cesar salad I ordered as an addition, was not made. But when I mentioned it The were willing to still get it. I Declined stating that I would Not be able to eat it and the main too in the same sitting. This is the only reason for not giving 5 stars. I enjoyed the Atmosphere and the food.

I have been coming for many years, but I have no idea what has happened. The fish was bad, it smelled old and could have cause illness. The music was not very nice for an Italian restaurant. Service was Ok. We ordered garlic bread that we never got. My husband had to order another plate and I could tell they tried harder with the second one because we complained to management. Downside is both my husband I had a horrible stomach ache overnight and in the morning. I’m very sad that it has downgraded.

Came here with a living social deal for the Sunday jazz brunch. Upon arrival, there was no one at the host stand for a few moments longer than usual. We were seated in the back of the restaurant, and we proceeded to get some food. There was a great selection! I had maybe 7 different proteins — salmon, shrimp, cod, lamb, ham, pork, chicken, eggs benedict(my fave!). Waffles were also good. Skipped the omelet station b/c there was a line. Desserts were also pretty good — enjoyed the berries and chocolate fondue, as well as the cheesecakes. When the tab came, I was charged tax and automatic 20% gratuity. Since these deals usually don’t add tax(it was a deal for 2 buffets, so pre tax total was $ 0…how can you add 8.25% to $ 0 and get ~$ 5?)…in fact, never at any of the other restaurants I have been to in which the deal covered the whole meal, I asked the server, and then the manager. They were rude about it… So I just paid and left. On the way out, saw that the«jazz» was a keyboardist… kind of expected it to be a jazz ensemble or something more involved than one person on a keyboard with the jazz setting…

Awful experience. Food was not fresh and tasted terrible. I had to change my main course twice because of their incompetency. The restaurant overall has deteriorate greatly. I suggest going somewhere else where you can find more value for your money!

Birraporetti’s should improve their food and service considering they get lots of clients, including upscale ones, ready to go to shows in the theater district. The Tuscan bean soup was good but for $ 7, I expected a bit more. It’s served in a flat bowl with not much depth to it. My friend had an amaretto shake that was just ice cream with amaretto in a small glass for $ 9.50. And as a coffee snob, I expected a better cappuccino, not a bitter one from cheap coffee. When the bartender Roberto opened the door to the kitchen, I noticed Community Coffee containers. If the restaurant is going to charge upscale prices, they shouldn’t be serving Community Coffee. And last, being an Italian restaurant, they should also serve bread like most Italian places do.

Very disappointed. Seems quality has lost its shine here. I’m kind of a regular visitor and normally I would give this place 5 stars. Not today. We were here during brunch but wanted lunch instead. We sat at the bar where Domingo was a great service to us, even though we were not drinking. The appetizer scallops were way over salted and even a little gritty from not being properly cleaned. I ordered the $ 30 fillet and it was not worth it at all. It, too was over salted and while cooked absolutely properly had the internal flavor of, well… nothing. I wouldn’t be surprised if they got the meat at Kroger. My girlfriend said her grilled chicken was also very salty and if it hadn’t been for the noodles to offset the salt, she wouldn’t have been able to eat it. I can see how the reviews are getting bad here. I hope it changes. Also, the tiramisu was way overboard on the amaretto. Sad, really.

Great spot to visit before a show in the theatre district! Been for lunch during the week and the lunch menu has decent prices. Loved the lasagna. It’s one of the best I’ve ever tasted and their cheesecake is delicious as well! Main downside is that you have to order the bread and pay for it which for most people used to other Italian restaurants could be a bit of a turn off.

After a concert at Revention we ended up here. Had a few drinks the martini & mudslide were really good. They even had extra of the mudslide to give. We ordered the spinach & mozzarella stuffed mushrooms soo yummy were tempted to order them again. We also ordered the Margherita pizza so fresh the dough was yummy. Overall: great service good food want to return and taste other items on menu.

Yikes — two years later, another New Years Eve, but sadly different outcome. Live music — in theory, a plus, but SO loud that it was impossible to converse. I McGyvered some earplugs from a paper straw wrapper and that brought the din to a manageable level(for the record, I’m not an old codger who growls at neighborhood kids to get off my lawn). We had a similarly sized party to our 2013 outing, but service was inexcusably poor. Drink orders missed /messed-up, entrees arrived about 2 minutes after appetizers /salads, salad plate removed before one of our party had finished, plates being cleared while several were still enjoying their meals. Food itself was good, but we’ll not return based on our experience this time out. Paying far too much to be rushed through a meal. Not an enjoyable evening.

We had a horrible experience last year after making a reservation before the Nutcracker– which is a family tradition for years of dining here and going to the show afterwards. Last year the group wasn’t even acknowledged for over an hour so this year I called and booked us an EXTRA hour early. After explaining last year’s issue and how long we had been coming there we expressed our concerns and even offered to open a secured $ 500 tab to ensure we got great service this year. I showed up with my other half and we were seated and then ignored for over 15 min before getting our drink order. 20 min in I addressed the situation with the hostess and clearly stated that the rest of the party was arriving and I would appreciate it if we got better service once they were seated. They exchanged our waiter for another who was just as bad. Long story short we got served wrong meals, no drink refills and the bus boy even tried to get us drinks seeing as we were sitting with empty glasses for quite some time! Unfortunately for him he brought me a wrong drink to go with my incorrect meal but this isn’t his job he was trying to help the inadequate staff. I separated from my party to speak with the GM and explained how thoroughly dissatisfied we all were and that they did not want to originally give this place another shot after last year’s foul up but I insisted to keep the tradition going heat I handle the reservations and bill this year. I wish I hadn’t because I was so fumed by the time we left that it ruined our evening completely!!! The manager offered 50% off our bill for the credit service and instead of just letting it be that had the guts enough to come sit next to me at the table as if we were friends and tried to discuss the situation in front of the people I had intentionally separated from to have the conversation in the first place. We visited here before going to see Alvin and the Chipmunks live with our six year old. The food was delicious, staff was friendly, and the place was clean. The only complaint is that our waitress disappeared for 15 minutes when it was time to pay and we were nearly late to our show. She only had three tables, so I felt it was ridiculous that it took her that long. At one point I went to look for her but she was not to be found.

Discovered they deliver to my house from Eat24. We were happy with everything we ordered. We ordered caprese salad, linguini with clams, fettuccini alfredo, and cheese ravioli. I liked how the clams came without the shells. The delivery driver was very polite too. Great discovery for my laziness and hunger.

We lost a loved one recently and picked this venue to hold her celebration of life ceremony because it was her favorite place to eat in Houston. My family rented out the large downstairs area which is a little stuffy from a lack of windows, dark wall color, and Art Deco décor. We had a few issues setting up the power point picture presentation because my sister had it stored on her Mac computer and they didn’t have a converter to plug that into their wall projector. A quick trip to radio shack fixed that as well as having to get a small blue tooth sound system since we couldn’t connect our music to their speakers either. The waitress working the event was kind and accommodating. My family had paid to have coffee and waters set out for everyone as well as a variety of desserts including chocolate mousse, tres leches cake, and tiramisu. All of it was delicious. A large number of us stayed after the celebration to eat dinner, which they told us we would have to do in that same room instead of the much prettier upstairs space because it was all booked by reservations. My family wanted to get garlic bread as an appetizer for the table(there is no free bread here) but realized it was actually cheaper to get two large cheese pizzas instead which I found insane. The pizzas were good, but the rest of the meal was not. I ordered rigatoni with pesto to keep it simple and am glad I did because I ended up being the only person not to get sick from the food. We think it was the cream sauce because everyone but me had at least one item with that on their plate. My sister ordered the chicken Alfredo with spinach pasta, my grandma had eggplant Parmesan that she said was dry along with one cheese stuffed manicotti, and both my dad and step mom had stuffed pastas with cream sauce as well. The employee in charge of booking the room told us we needed to be done at a certain time because they hold their Saturday night murder mystery dinner in there and needed time to set up. As we were gathering our things after dinner and preparing to leave people had already started coming in and sitting at the surrounding tables. We saw some people pick up the leftover desserts from our celebration that the waitress hadn’t finished clearing and help themselves to them. On top of that and my family getting sick a short time after we left, my dad came out to find that his truck had been hit while we were there and no one bothered to leave a note or any information. His entire front bumper now needs to be replaced. Our car was fine because we paid the $ 10 to park in their garage but he had parked his truck on the main city street out front of the restaurant. I would give them one star but because of our phenomenal server and some of the food actually being good I said 2. I do not plan to come back to this restaurant again and I do hope that no one else had the misfortune of getting sick last night.
