In a nutshell: Their are better places to go to lunch in downtown, skip this joint and go to Jasons. You’ll definitely get better service. The longer story. My work buddies an I went to Angelo’s today for an early lunch. We had eaten there about a month ago and thought it was pretty good. We ordered our food and sat down. We were grooving to the décor and the music when the waitress came over and told us that one of our party’s food could not be changed because it came«already cooked». That did not bode well, but he was OK with leaving the meal«as is». I also wonder why the girl taking our order didn’t know this. So we waited a little longer and got our food in reasonable time. Now, I had ordered a sandwich from the sandwich and fries section of their hand written and kind of hard to read chalkboard menu. My chicken and avocado sandwich was OK although the avocado was kind of under-ripe and the chicken breast didn’t cover about ¼ of the bread. My buddies however were served a limp sandwich that looked like a pizza slice that had been folded and microwaved. As they had ordered from the chalkboard too which listed their Panna something as a sanwich with fries, they were suprised to get a salad instead. When they asked the waitress for fries, she kind of argues with them saying it was the daily special and comes with salad. They said that the menu(pointing to the chalkboard) says it comes with fries. The waitress said she would check and went and looked at the printed menu, then walked away into the back and we didn’t see her again for 10 minutes or more. She never said anything about the fries. What the heck? So, we ate our OK meals and left, deciding that we WON’T go back.

After a little more experience with Angelo’s, I’ll go with an ‘a-ok.’ The party I threw for my coworkers went well, seemed to be a hit, food was good, drinks were filled up as quick as you could drink em, and we had a lot of room. The space we had was decent, a little hard to socialize while we ate though. I’ve been back a few times since and seems it’s forgotten in my book when the inevitable question of where to eat comes.

Last Friday night I found me and a few friends staggering down to Angelo’s after a few brewsky’s at The Flying Saucer(Mecca). Alot of the waitresses who work at the Saucer tend to hang out and drink at Angelo’s after work, and regardless of how cold it was outside they still were pimping the knee high socks and short skirts. Lovely. By the time we got there it took the bartender lady about 15 minutes to pour 5 beers(Lonestar on tap). Average of 3 minutes/beer tells me shes getting a little rusty in her old age. She was 30. I was waiting for the manager to come out to the mound and bring on the lefty but no avail. She was getting roped all night. It was gonna be a cold shower for her. Poor thing. The music was ok. Ok Im lying, it was quite piss poor. Even for a cover band they were awful. Now I expect bad cover bands at Sherlocks on a Wednesday night, but Friday night downtown? Really people? They messed up the words to Sublime! Legally I can physically assault anyone who does that. Other than the outside«pub» look to it, the cheap drinks, and pretty decent Za’s(pizza) — I really wasn’t that impressed. But then again I did just go to hang out with some of the waitresses from the Saucer anyways.
