I’m not gonna lie, I wasn’t thrilled. BF’s mom lives in the Village now, so every time we get to visit she has 20 places she wants us to try. This is GREAT for my Unilocaling, not so great on my tummy always. This restaurant is located in the Oaklawn Gaming Center(casino) and they boast a $ 1.99 steak night on Fridays. of course there is a bunch of red tape to actually GET the $ 1.99 steak dinner(players card and so many points, yadayadayada, we didn’t qualify) and so mom was the only one getting that deal this night. I think regular price is like $ 20 or $ 25, something like that. We got a wedge salad, Caesar. that was what they were offering that night. A wedge of romaine with some random croutons and not nearly enough dressing. Nothing to write home about for sure. We ordered our steaks and you get baked potato and a veg. broccoli was on deck. The steaks came out and they had this compound butter on them. I can’t tell you exactly what the taste was, but it was strong, and for me, unpleasant. Luckily i was able to scrape most of it off. BF wasn’t so lucky as his was all melted already. The baked potato was really good, and my favorite part of the meal which wasn’t saying much. The broccoli was WAYYY over cooked, like nursing home style, and was cooked in chicken broth? I say it as a question because I have never heard of that before, and it was gross. So, if you can get the dinner for $ 1.99 then I guess that’s a deal. If not, I can only advise to stay away.

Bottom Line Up Front: Avoid the place like the plague(or the plague is what you might get!) Started our evening at this place, a little restaurant(looks more like a cafeteria) before hitting the casino floor. The food was atrocious. We sent everything back and were thankful that we didn’t get sick from what we did eat. Do yourself a favor… eat before you go the casino.

I have to say that everyone is so friendly in Arkansas. Came here for lunch, no gambling, here for the races. The prices are great. I ordered a side salad, for a light lunch, and the salad was huge! I didn’t eat the whole thing. My companion ordered the turkey bacon sandwich. Could not eat it all, soft bread, crispy bacon and came out hot. Actually reminded me of eating a turkey dinner at Thanksgiving. I live in Phoenix, so may have something to do with it, but it felt like it was 50 below in there. If it was warmer I would have stayed for another round of drinks. Will stop by next time I’m at the races.
