Ugh been waiting to write a review as I thought I needed to sleep on it since I have, I am now prepared to say it was just oh so average. What I have learned about Hawaii is to never go to a Mexican/Latin restaurant for great food. We had drinks and nachos and everything is over spiced as noted in other reviews. Skip this and try the other places is my tip!

This place is AWFUL! Both food and service. Beer was flat, waiter brought out my wife’s meal 20 min before mine, my burrito was cut diagonally which was difficult to eat and was the first time I didn’t finish my whole meal. My wife’s Caesar salad was missing croutons because they were out and the chicken had cinnamon on it which tasted weird. Don’t eat Mexican food in Hawaii. At least at this place!

Drinks are great. Food is mediocre. But hey, you are stuck at an airport, what are you gonna do? Drink, of course! With a purchase of beer, you get a shot(any shot, even top shelf) for $ 6. That’s a deal. As to be expected, everything else is pricey.

I got to the airport crazy early and wanted to sit somewhere and have a decent meal so I chose here. I figured I’d be safe ordering the taquitos because those are easy and who could mess them up? They were okay, not as crispy as I’d like and served with a sauce that’d be more suitable for pasta. I don’t know what the green sauce was because I refuse to call that guacamole, there wasn’t even a hint of avocado in it. The margarita was strong(not worth $ 18 even though it was a double shot) but the service was great though! Shoutout to Maria for killin’ it during service!

The only reason I gave it one star is because the server was genuinely sorry and didn’t charge me for my entrée. When asked if we wanted the«spicy» salsa we were excited… only to find it was bland tomato water with red pepper flakes sprinkled on it. We ordered nachos with beef, etc. No flavor of any kind. I took one bite of my entrée and spit it out. I had a «spice rubbed» chicken quesadilla. The spice was cinnamon and there had to have been a cup of it in my meal. I spent the next 15 min vomiting. Awesome way to head off to my flight. Save your time and $$!

I was afraid to even try it because of being an airport restaurant and because I was afraid of what Mexican food in Hawaii would taste like. I tried it because it was the only restaurant in the terminal and I was starving. To my surprise, the taco plate was pretty good. I tried the fish and chicken tacos and although it didn’t taste completely authentic it was pretty good. Also, our server was funny and helpful.

Yeah, this place was pretty terrible. I had the fish tacos, and while they were passable(I guess. I mean, the fish in them was decent, and that’s the main part, right?), they were COMPLETELY unadorned: No chips, no garnish, NOTHING. I had 2 Mexican Style &1 American Style(in a single order of 3 tacos). American Style was pretty gross: Just covered in mayonnaise, with some cheddar cheese sprinkled on top. Mexican was at least passable. $ 17 for this order of tacos! VERY overpriced for the quality of food you get! And a beer costs you $ 9.50 before tax. Ultimately, this place is a joke. …on all of us! Shame on me for choosing this place. As one of the previous reviewers stated, save your money, and just go to Burger King.

Really isn’t much to say about this place. The food is mediocre… the man who I assume is the manager was belting out demands to his waitress across the restaurant and they didn’t have 60% of the ingredients for the margaritas listed on their menu. I wish I checked the rating of this place before I entered. If I could give it one star I would but I figured that was to harsh it is an airport restaurant.

The service was good. They over spice the food(even the salads) to get you to buy more drinks. The drinks are watered down and the beers are poured with a head to maximize profits. Go Hungry! Kill time and money doing something else.

We had an extremely bad experience at this place a few weeks ago, the Sunday evening after Thanksgiving. The food wasn’t that great(well, this is airport food at its mediocre level) but we felt completely ripped off by those $ 17 weak margarita. Those prices were not in the menus. We asked to speak to the manager, not to get any kind of refund but to notify them that this was a very bad practice. The reaction of the manager was unbelievable as he told us that he couldn’t let us say that the prices of those margaritas were not clearly listed; so basically he was asking us to deny the truth. He was telling us : ” The prices are not on the menu, the prices are not listed at the bar, this is a corporate decision, but I can not let you say that we are hiding our prices”.

We had quite a long wait for our flight from Honolulu so decided to stop in for a few drinks. I’ll be honest, I was a little wary based on some of the other reviews, but our experience here I’m glad to say was very good. Drink service was fast and our server, Mildred, extremely friendly and chatty. I really have to give her a shout out since she was an awesome host, very personable, and even hugged us when we left. You don’t generally expect that sort of service at an airport. Drinks were good and the selection decent. We also wanted a snack so we ordered the chips and salsa appetizer. No complaints here, chips were fresh, the salsa tasty, and it was a nice big portion size and hit the spot perfectly. Beyond that I can’t speak for other food items since that’s all we ate here, mainly due to being somewhat food-ed out after a week long cruise! Certainly though I’d be willing to try more and would if I find myself back in Honolulu airport. For an airport location this has a nice, welcoming, and open atmosphere. The relaxing background music was a nice addition. There’s a full bar and then lots of regular seating. Initially we sat at the oddly shaped tables at the front, and while very cool looking and novel, they are not overly practical when you’ve got luggage with you. So we decided to move to the back section which is all regular tables. It’s a seat yourself kind of place, so moving presented no issue. In fact the table we moved to was great since there was plenty of room around it for all our bags. So overall, a very good experience for us, and we would come back.

Save your money and go to Burger King. I ordered the chicken nachos and 2 margaritas. The margaritas tasted good, but the we’re served in a double shot glass. They were maybe 6oz each. The restaurant charged me $ 17 per margarita. That’s probably why there are no prices on the margarita portion of the menu. What a ripoff. The nachos don’t have normal cheese on them. It resembles a brown sludge that is supposed to be cheese. When the«cheese» begins to cool, it starts to separate and get clumpy. Save your money and go somewhere else. You were warned.

I had a flight in the early afternoon and apparently most of the restaurants close for lunch for a few hours in the airport. Makes a lot of sense… hungry travelers and no food… ok cool. So my options were Quiznos or this place. The guacamole was horrible, it was obviously a pre packaged dip poured into a bowl. The tacos were edible. Expensive prices for sub standard food.

Visited for a drink while we waited for our delayed flight, ordered chips and salsa and later guacamole. She could not give us extra chips after ordering the guacamole without charging us another $ 8…wtf?! Ignorant. Service was horrid towards the end of our visit, they got really busy and only had two people working the entire place besides the bar tender.

3 stars because the waitress was very friendly and brutally honest !! LoL She also was kind and gave us a free shot! So I realize going to the airports especially around odd times(early mornings/late nights) Options especially @ the HNL — limited Seating — seat your self Ambience — well themed restaurant Quality of food — not authentic Mexican food Drinks– go for it no one can really mess up on liquor duh !!! Price — typical airport prices for guacamole that tasted like it came from the grocery store $ 10 — of course I was the lease surprised! Seating — comfy Customer service — very attentive waitress !! Bottom line– if you have time to spare –drinks go for it — if you came with a appetite — my opinion I would pass! Would I return? Nah that’s ok I’ll stick to a snack box or try fasting !!

We came in to watch a bit of the Cowboys game before our flight. I ordered a mango rita. Once my bill came, I saw I was charged for a double shot in my drink. I didn’t order that and it also wasn’t specified on the menu. So to my dismay, I had drank a 16 $ margarita. Not top shelf alcohol. I will not return here.

Heads-Up to Unilocal: there is a duplicate business listing for this restaurant; this one has a higher number of reviews and more recent reviews. Okay, with that out of the way, why are airport restaurant food reviews always so sad yet entertaining? It’s as though people are expecting to have an «authentic» or «amazing» experience at an airport, and for it to still be «affordable.» Guess what? Not gonna happen, unless you find yourself at certain places in MSP, ATL, JFK and maybe SEA. You also are likely beginning or ending a vacation(or business trip) in HAWAII. Smile! Okay, so Tequileria is a chain that is found in many airports, and they’re all fairly consistent. They’re just A-OK, and if you’re lucky enough to have the waitress we had, Kristina, you may actually receive well-trained, friendly, and efficient service. Right, the food. Y’all who follow me on Unilocal know I’m a self-proclaimed snob of «toda la comida latina,» particularly Mexican cuisine. I’m not expecting much from Tequileria, I just need some tortillas, hot sauce, and meat in my belly before I board a long-haul flight. Tacos — simple choice. By default, they are of course flour tortillas, which probably would have tasted better, but we’re more corn tortilla folks. Probably an odd request, but at least they tried. Problem was that the tacos were served on cold corn tortillas, and we all know that’s a no-no. With their taco plate, they also give you a choice of salsas of varying«spice,» so the salsa de chile de arbol was acceptable, as was the salsa molcajete. Though neither will knock your socks off, they worked to amplify the flavor of the meat and distract us from the cold tortillas. Oh, and there were two varieties of Cholula hot sauce at the table, so that was nice to have. The meat we both chose was kalua pork, which is a Hawaiian cuisine staple, but probably not the best-executed at an airport. I found mine to be average-acceptable, but my husband’s portion had so much fat and grease that it was hardly edible. Stil, I didn’t find the prices to be all that exorbitant, especially when you consider that our three-taco plates were $ 15 each, there service was surprisingly good, and the atmosphere was calmer and less frazzled that other restaurants in the airport, such as the Maui Brewing Company disaster. Keep your smile on and your expectations in check. Salud!

We had to catch a late flight home and were waiting at the airport. The wait was LONG and choices at the gate were limited. Since we had arrived from another island, we did not get to check in and see other food options. Hence out of the two choices we had, we landed here. First off, everywhere in Honolulu they crank up their Aircons. I mean chilly to your bones kind of cranking up. Since the airport was chilling me like the arctic blast had just hit me, I decided I would like to have a tortilla soup. «Oh no. you won’t like it». The lady waiting on us told me. «It is not very good». Okay! So what can we order? quesadillas she said. And that’s what we ordered. And some drinks and Guac and chips. To give the server some credit, the quesadillas were not bad. we were hungry and they were edible. But the guac was like some green paste, blah and yukky and the chips were stale. The drinks were nothing to write home about. It’s a very expensive place, even for an airport in Hawaii.

I always stop in here on my way back to the mainland. Get a beer and they offer a deal on a side shot — why not! I’ve never had their food, just liquid love.
