Walking around HNL, trying to get lunch, I was super disappointed to not find a good poke bowl spot… INHAWAII. The closest I could find was sushi & bento when walking from interisland over to international flights. When I walked in and asked for bento, they didn’t have any. They just had sushi boxes. Fine, ok. I’ll get the spicy crab roll. This is disappointing for Hawaii. No ahi? Just KRAB? It satisfied a craving. And yes it was fresh. They have a small kitchen in the back pumping these babies out. However, this is really mediocre sushi for such a sushi haven. Without much competition, this place will continue to succeed. But cmon HNL, we can do better than this!

I got sushi from here, but when I ate it, the rice was old and hardened. That tells me it was probably at least good 2 –3 days old. And a pack of sushi and a bottle of green tea costed me $ 17!!! That’s outrageous for a leftover. I rather should’ve gotten a freshly made sushi to the order from another sushi restaurant inside HNL airport. This place has a serious health hazard and should be inspected by the health department. Other people were complaining about dangerous food poisoning from their sushi products, but I wouldn’t be surprised when I see how they handle raw fish product in this store. It’s the worst experience in HNL, and I wish of I can give minus stars.

I had to get something to eat before my flight and just walked into this place. The staff was friendly enough but that doesn’t make up for the food quality or value. The sushi didn’t look too good to me so I just got the $ 9 turkey sandwich. I know there’s a premium at the airport but it was small and soggy. The bag of chips I got was $ 2.50. I realized afterwards you can get chips at the newsstand for $ 1.50. Maybe the next time I’ll just walk a few more steps and do Burger King.

I purchased the Maki Volcano roll yesterday and was ok with paying their prices because the sushi looked beautiful and it was a lot more tempting than the other choices in the concourse. I had food poisoning within 2 short hours of consuming it and my flight home was filled with hot flashes, chills, body aches and nausea. I spent 5 hours curled in a ball on the flight and it ended with me vomiting 20 times in the bathroom — the worst experience ever. I hope there were no others that suffered from this gross neglect and beware of dining here. I am still ill and wish this on no one.

Samurai Sushi and Bento is really nothing more than a little snack concession inside Honolulu’s International Aiport. It has drinks like water and soda, Japanese unsweetened green tea, and the like. It also has premade sandwiches and sushi. The food is prepared in the back of this little grab and go place. The sushi is not good, but they do offer a prety good variety for $ 15.99. You get 2 Ebi, and one each of Tobiko, Ikura, Tomago, Ika, Maguro, Unagi, and that Tuna salad sushi like a California roll but without the avocado and crab. 9 little pieces. The best thing is, if you get sushi after 2pm, they give you a 30% discount, since they close at 4pm! So I got $ 4.80 off! I asked Emily, the older Filipina if the Ikura was safe to eat, and she assured me it was made just a short while ago in the back. Uh, with a 7.5 our flight to Guam coming up, I sure hope it is! Samurai Sushi is near Gate 24 in the international terminal.
