I come here for aroz caldo, but I’m really disappointed today. They gave me my soup right after I put in my order. In other words, it’s a microwaved bowl. I am okay with that, but the egg yolk was still cold. Can they make fresh aroz caldo? I am hoping.

Beside Red Ribbon’s ube cake, ube macapuno rolls, butter mamon, butter cakes, and chocolate rolls, all those are delightful but this review is basically about the Mango cake. Yes, Mango cake! You must give it a try! Salamat to Mel B. who had this mango cake at his last UYE for all of us. After one piece, I just knew where to order my next cake. Thank you for the recommendation! Red Ribbon is located 555 N. King St. located at the beginning of Kalihi. Corner of N. King St. Red Ribbon is in the back of Jollibee. Parking can get busy crazy at times. You can enter the parking lot thru Dillingham or N. King St. If you are making a turn in to the lot, the opposite direction, you will have a hard time with, the traffic. It is best that you are on the same side as the parking lot. Lets talk about the mango cake. They come in 3 sizes, you can get a single slice of cake for 2.50, or purchase the whole cakes in 2 sizes. The round one, which is 22.99 and the bigger size, which is the quarter sheet for 29.99. My advice, get the quarter size, for 6.00 more. You can have leftover mango cake. The leftover mango cake will be such a treat! Placing a cake order is recommended. Their mango cake comes from the warehouse and they don’t bake them at the Kalihi Location. What makes this mango cake so good? The cake oh, so soft, so moist, sponge cake and its oh so good, with mango cream and real Philippine mangoes. Its really that good! If you didn’t try this cake yet, you are missing out! This is the cake for me since I love mangoes! but you don’t have to love mangoes to like this cake. I take my time in eating this cake, so that I can enjoy every bite.!! I stopped by over the weekend to pick up my order, quarter size mango cake, When I placed my order, I requested purple frosting, for personalized cake. 0per manager, there are only 2 colors available, which is white & Pink. I requested pink since its for my mom’s birthday. After you make payment is, when they will personalized the cake. ** always make sure you check cake before you leave. My cake wasn’t personalized in Pink, it was in white. I was a bit disappointed, This is not ok for my mom since white is not a good color for celebrating birthdays. After explaining with the manager, that I requested for pink. He mentioned their policy for cakes are only white.(already confirmed info. on the phone) After all this, I finally got the frosting in pink. This is the only minor complaint that I have and the reason for 4 stars. At the Gathering, everyone enjoyed the mango cake, even my mom. She usually doesn’t eat cake, due to her diabetes but I was happy she ate this cake. We had leftovers which makes me even more happy, she ate leftover cake the next few days. Its going to be hard, deciding who will eat the last piece?! I’ll sacrifice and give it to my mom. Now who’s birthday is coming up? I need more mango cake! 2016 #43/100 Unilocal Challenge

Their palabok is always delicious. Even their sansrival was just as good. Fast and friendly service. Parking around there is bad and be wary of some of the weirdos walking around the area.

One word: UBE!!! UBE is one of my favorite flavors of anything and it’s somewhat hard to find nowadays, so if you love UBE You should definitely try the Ube Mamon! They even have a ube overload cake that is more delicious then anything I’ve ever tried, we usually try to get it for birthdays if we can remember. This location is super clean! The staff is friendly, and if you go early enough it isn’t that crowded! I was so lucky to stumble across this one yesterday since I was in the neighborhood, I was a regular at the one outside of don Quijote and I was super bummed when they shut down. Things to try, 10⁄10 Ube Mamon. 10⁄10 Butter Mamon. 10⁄10 Ube overload cake. You won’t be disappointed! They also have Filipino food you could order too, not too much of a selection for that. It’s more of a bakery :) I’ll definitely be back! :)

I’m from Chicago– so if I go to a bakery and see kalochki or how ever you spell that polish cookies and then French style pastries. When in San Diego– there are tons of Mexican type bakeries– and I have relatives telling me what I would like to try from an array. So here in HI sometimes I am unfamiliar with some of the treats at a different kind of bakery. So walking in here– it helped that the staff was friendly and welcoming– otherwise I would have walked back out that second as I didn’t recognize things I was in the mood for– since I wasn’t going to eat a whole cake by myself. Staff was able to suggest a few items– helpful. IN general– it seems that it is heavy on the Spanish/Philippine side bakery. What I got is not over sweet– so it hit the spot and I was happy. I’ll be back to try something different next time.

My colleague Anthony told me wherever there’s a Jollibee, Red Ribbon will be right next door. It’s like how a Napoleon’s Bakery is with Zippy’s. It’s a nice little shop with a nice interior that’s clean and very welcoming. For those of you who loves Ube, if you can get your hands on an Ube cake and some Ube Mamon, congratulations to you! Mamon is like a Filipino sponge cake that’s really moist and unbelievably good! I have had my fair share of Filipino pastries but don’t expect to see an abundance of it in my house, haha. I’ve tasted Golden Coin’s Mamon and I thought it was good but never have I tried Red Ribbon’s until today! Man oh man, moist as hell, soft and spongy… so heavenly! The Butter and Ube Mamon, UNREAL! Really amazing! They also got Cheesy Mamon, Cheesy Ensemaida, various cakes including Mango cake and many more. They even got Brownies, but those brownies, are they Filipino though?! Maybe they add Patis(fish sauce) in them that makes it a Filipino brownie, hahaha nah just kidding. Setting aside the jokes, customer service is good and parking is adequate. Being that I am Filipino, I didn’t know we make great pastries like these sponge cakes. I’m fo’ sure hitting up this place in the future for Ube and butter Mamon! Nice job Red Ribbon!

I found out Red Ribbon had a location in town and was curious to try what ever they offered. I love bakeries so yeah I was in the area and stopped by. The shop is located near Jolly Bee on Dillingham Blvd. I guess I was expecting it to be more like those Japanese bakeries but majority for their pastries were already package and ready for purchase. The only thing in their glass case was roll cakes. Which looked super good. At the time there was an Ube roll cake so I purchased a slice along with those butter(forgot what it’s called brain fart) mamoons… not sure what their called but their like light buttery pound cakes. It was good nothing awesomely incredible. I think anything Ube is great so I would suggest getting the Ube roll cake for any special occasion. This place hits the spot of you don’t want something too heavy for dessert. I’ll be back here definitely for more Ube.

Red Ribbon is a mainland chain specializing in packaged snack size cakes and party cakes – half-sheets, round, and rolls. For snack sized cakes they have Mamon(Filipino Sponge Cake), Ensaimada(Filipino Soft Roll), and Brownies. Whole Cake flavors include Ube, Mango, Mocha, Coffee Crunch, Black Forest and more. Store is clean and bright. Staff are friendly. If you are in a hurry the whole cakes will work for a birthday, office event, or dessert for other gathering. The packaged snack cakes have a week or more shelf life, so they could be included in a home lunch or quick after school snack.

…So happy they opened one in Kalihi! So much closer to where I live. I love their mamon. It’s so good and soft and moist. It reminds me of when I go home to Philippines. Kind of pricey though but can’t complain cause it beats flying home to PI to get this. Will have to try their cakes next time.

The mamon was aite. It’s buttery but for some reason, it reminds me of a light cheese flavor. I wouldn’t get it again, I’m not a big fan of the prepackaged look as well.

I recently discovered this bakery. The mamons are yummy… light in texture and not too sweet in flavor. The ube cake was also a hit with my clients who gave it thumbs up. The ladies provide great service and even helped carry the goodies to my car. Convenient location with plentiful parking too. I am assuming they get there products from a main location as when I went back another time they were all out of ube mamon… bummer. Other than that a great place to get goodies.

What? There’s a Red Ribbon BakeShop in town now? Finally! They branched out into Kalihi. A perfect location and area too, near Jollibee. They just opened up their doors for business about a week ago(week ago) and they’re located in the Kingsgate shopping plaza on King street. You can’t miss it! They have their store banners in plain eye sight. The store hours are 7am — 9pm everyday. As soon as you walk in, there’s a couple of tables and chairs to your left hand side and the showcase on your right hand side. The cashier is towards the back. I know they are brand spanking new but you’ll notice how the interior of the place is very neat and clean. The workers here are polite. As for their desserts, They have alot of different varieties here! They have the load of cakes in their showcase. They also have alot of other pastries, breads and even rolls too. They have brownies, coconut macaroons, Mamons, banana bread, pandesal and even empanadas too. For me, I like the Mamons. There’s a few different flavors of the Mamon. There’s butter, mocha and cheesy to name a few and they are all good. I really liked their Mango and Ube cakes. Really ono! The prices are reasonable. If you’re not familiar with Filipino desserts but curious about them. You should definitely check this bakery out!

So this is one of the newer Red Ribbon islands. If anyone remembers the one in town by Don Quijote around Kapiolani Blvd./Kaheka side, that one closed a while ago so this one is pretty much considered the Honolulu Red Ribbon. Actually this is Red Ribbon Kalihi. I think this is a perfect location more so because of the heavy concentration of Filipinos on the island(Knowledge Drop: For those who are unfamiliar with Red Ribbon and why I mentioned Filipinos is because Red Ribbon is a Philippines based and established bakery). Wherever there is a Jollibee, there is a Red Ribbon. Just like how wherever there is a Starbucks, there is a Jamba. Anyways, the store inside is super duper simple. They only have like two tables if you want to dine in and eat your pastry/cake dessert inside. Red Ribbon has a variety amount of cakes ranging from different flavors(ube, coffee crunch, mango, black forest chocolate, etc.). They also have their famous pastry type of desserts like mamons, mango bars, brownies, macaroons, and many more. This is a perfect stop after having a Jolly meal at Jollibee. Is just goes hand in hand, ya dig? Anyways, I always like going to Red Ribbon for my cakes whenever I am celebrating a special occassion. It’s just something different from your typical local cakes and pies around the block.
