After reading the reviews before I wrote this I thought to my self wow I must be weird. I love this place! But now I’m realizing how sketchy it is… however, whatever the heck I’m getting it’s delicious. For breakfast they have a 2.75 two choice plus rice(fried or white) special. I’m a vegetarian so I just got a double helping of eggs but they offer bacon, orange chicken, sausage and spam as well. I pretty much got two meals for 2.75 because I ate half for breakfast and half for lunch. Can’t beat that. For lunch they have specials as well, not too sure about the price at the moment but again I’m a vegetarian(I occasionally eat fish) so I just get the vegetables and the fish thing(probably bad that I don’t know what it is…) with lo mein noodles and again thats 2 meals in one for like 5 bucks(I think). Even though you probably shouldn’t eat here, you really should. P. s. They don’t accept AmEx

Update — I actually traveled to Mexico again recently. And yes, I can confirm that the Chinese food there was better than this place.

Roast duck noodle mein. I had better There used to be a Mini Garden down the block from here but they closed down and now it’s Lucky Belly. I used to go Mini Garden for their Won Ton and Roast duck Noodle Mein. I love getting it when i have a running nose or feeling under the weather. So I was in a such for a replacement and I came across this place. Yes I was bit disappointed. Instead of choi sum, theres a bunch of cabbage and hot mustard was very watery. I would come try this place again because they do have plate one or two choices from beef & broccoli, orange chicken, and honey shrimp(just like panda).

Chinese fast food restaurant that’s slow… The food here would be dry and the meat kinda smells… Their noodles and rice taste plain. This place is not too horrible yet the worst chinese fast food place I have every been. Yikes.

This place isn’t amazing, but it isn’t bad either. If you are craving quick Chinese food — this is the place to go. I like the kung pao chicken, sweet and sour pork and orange chicken. The place has plenty of seating and takes card.

Chinese fast food. I knew that before I ordered. No surprise. Many specials written on a board. The sweet and sour pork I had was tasty. Best of all, I got it for under $ 5.00! I was hungry and was able to satisfy my hunger with that order. My expectation of this place was not high but they met it and I left satisfied. Got what I came for, ate the food outside(al fresco) and left.

I like comin to eat here! Not an expert in Chinese food but its pretty good! I love their beef broccoli and their char siu, its ono ono! But the fried rice is a little dry sometimes, still edible though. Prices are pretty low for 3 picks, I think its like 7 bucks, well… reasonable! The workers are really nice too, not once that I have been here have da kine been mean, they always got a smile on their faces. I recommend you come here and try their food, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Mandarin Express sums up in two words what we should all fear: Chinese Fast Food. While everything tastes good while you eat it, it’s one of those meals you regret immediately after. You wonder things like, «is my life worth living?» «Why would I make such a poor decision?» and you finally settle on never eating there again, until you forget and repeat your mistake. And then you’re doomed! Mandarin Express is about a step above Panda Express. The 2 choice plate will run you about $ 5.50(a good deal, if you don’t take into account your post-meal emotional turmoil), but they are a bit chang with the pricier items. Yeah, I said it. Anyway, if you’re at fort street mall you have at LEAST10 better food options, so make the most out of your luck and get something you won’t regret. Unless my review has instilled in you a morbid sense of curiosity. If so, consume at your own risk!

Welcome, Mandarin Express! The newest eatery on the Fort Street Mall«block»! This Chinese restaurant has a food selection very similar to a Panda Express. Orange chicken, sweet & sour pork, beef & broccoli, honey shrimp… take your pick. Also available is won ton min, a nice alternative! I ordered a one-item plate with orange chicken and chow fun. The portions were generous. I was impressed with the quality of the orange chicken. I like that it was crispier yet still tangy and filling. The chow fun on the other hand, was bland in flavor. I had to season it with more soy-sauce. They have a good amount of table seating for those looking to eat there. I sat inside because the A/C was on and I wanted to cool off! It has been way too hot to sit outside! Anyway, this was a plus, especially because the tables and chairs are all clean and new! Because it just opened, Mandarin Express is offering a ‘Grand Opening’ special discount at 15% off your total. It’s a great way to bring in HPU students & others looking to try something new. Unfortunately, this restaurant does not offer anything that different from other Chinese ‘take-out’ places. However, they do have the opportunity to get great exposure and business in such a frequented area of Downtown. Try them out!
