Good Mexican food for the price. I’ve only gotten their fried burrito plate, comes with choice of beans, meat, guac, sour cream. Get it wet and ask for jalepenos(no extra charge) all for $ 8.22(with tax) Friendly service from the Korean lady who does the cashier and from the Mexican guy who does the food. I’ve never been disappointed so far.

UPDATE(2⁄17) — Ok, it wasn’t my last time here after my initial review… I couldn’t stay away, and was intrigued by the Super Nachos which were delicious, but a little small for one of the most expensive items on the menu at around $ 8…you do get your choice of meat of course, along with cheese, guac, sour cream, and chile sauce, etc. All good, but the amount of chips is just not enough… let’s be serious, chips cost NOTHING… you can dazzle your customers and pile that shit high and deep! But alas, they didn’t… Otherwise, the burrito(while generic and formulaic) is quite tasty, I’m not gonna lie. However, a 3-star isn’t bad and they’re not so delicious(or service oriented) to warrant another star. Still a tasty and fairly affordable lunchtime meal regardless, go check ‘em, go check ‘em, go.

This review is for their breakfast burrito, I’ve also had their super burrito for lunch and I’d give that a four star. I just love the breakfast burrito with chorizo, $ 5 and just the right nice and so tasty. I definitely recommend checking them out if you’re downtown for breakfast. Also friendly staff.

If you want oily goodness, this is the place to go. The tacos are pretty big and the tortilla is nice and toasted with a slightly crunchy edge that’s amazing. The meets could use a bit more flavor and are of lower quality, but eh, this is tacos we are talking about, the last place with quality meats went out of business.

Being a Hawaii Pacific University student, I always look for the cheapest and most filling place I can find, and on Fort Street, La Mision Taqueria is a hard place to beat. They have a verity of Mexican style dishes, but the dish people keep going back for is the burrito. They are about $ 7 and are packed with your choice of meat, beans, cheese, rice, and condiments. I personally go for the plate combo. with the plate, you get two tortillas and all the taco fixings with sour cream and guacamole. Whatever you choose, it’s hard to go wrong here.

I went here yesterday. Location-Fort street mall in Downtown it’s easy to find. Service-Quick and fast I was surprised how fast it was for my food to be read. The staff was awesome! Food-I ordered a super burrito and my oh my I was in shock when I seen it. My burrito was huge it was kind of scary but I enjoyed it a lot especially with the hot sauce. It was my first time eating there and I’m most definitely going back.

La Mission Teq Fort St. Mall has some quick yet still good eating places. I know it is not ‘real’ Mexican food –but for what they do– it is way better than expected. McD has sad excuses for breakfast burritos — one can pull them apart and find the just 3 pieces of sausage and be like– this is worthless. NOTHERE– the burritos weight a good hefty weight so that you don’t think to yourself– ‘ohh I just wasted $ 9′ you feel like, ‘man– I won’t be hungry for a while at least that that filled me up.’(hint hint — I am still hungry after I eat at taco bell from 1 menu combo meal– those TB commercials lie!) For real– I usually have bigger eyes than my stomach but the burritos were plenty full to satisfy even my appetite. The is a good mix of tasty beans(not just mush that used to be beans), rice that isn’t just white rice but has a deeper taste, enough meat in it to make it feel like a rich meal, and a spice kick to it that is not over powering but still gives me that ‘enjoy food’ taste. Lunch times can be super busy — so be ready for a wait or do what our office usually does– order by phone and pick up not at 12 noon but before or after. The place is small — so have plans to sit somewhere where you will be happy– hint hint, there are many homeless in the area that may be ‘drama’ although security usually walks around for when(not if) things go wrong. All in all– pretty good food for what you pay for, it has taste, it has kick, It makes you full– what is not to love?

I stopped into this place a few days ago on a whim. My friend and I were at Walmart downtown and wanted a quick bite to eat and she suggested we go get«carne asada fries» from a place near her school. She’d been going to this place for breakfast burritos regularly and had wanted to try their fries. So we walked up Fort Street Mall and his place was tucked in next to a phở place, hardly noticeable. Once inside though it reminded me of all the taquerias I used to frequent in Nor Cal. The menu boards, the sticky tables and chairs, the deep fryer smell, it all brought me back. It’s like I was at a taqueria in San Jose. We ordered our food, which was surprisingly cheap for downtown. Although we only got the fries, everything else sounded good so I’ll definitely be back to try more. Our food came out pretty quick and while it looked exactly like what I thought it would, it tastes even better. The fries were crisp, the meat had a good spicy sauce, and the salsa and guacamole were fresh. We devoured it pretty quick. I’ll be back.

Such Mexican, much yum. In case you didn’t understand the above statement, this place is a winner! Where else can you have a Mexican lunch for two WITHGUACAMOLE(lol) for less than $ 20.00?! THISPLACE! I had the super taco plate which came with two hearty tacos atop flour tortillas, mexican rice, pinto beans and a heavy dash of tapatio sauce while my friend had their super burrito. They were nice enough to let me do my order of one chicken and one steak taco. So yummy. It was so good. My friends burrito looked massive as well which came with a side of mexican rice and pinto beans. The next time I want Mexican food for lunch, I’m definitely gonna come here, even though I have to find parking in downtown(which is a nightmare)!

Best burritos I have found since my move to Oahu. The price cannot be beat and they taste amazing to top it all off. I’d pay probably double for one of their burritos. A carne asada burrito, under $ 7, with rice, beans, salsa, and sour cream. It is huge and delicious.

This is my go to for breakfast burritos! Actually my review is going to based on their breakfast burrito alone… because sad to say, that’s all I’ve eaten here. I frequent this place during the early morning hours when I’m in downtown(normally for District Court). I always and only order their«breakfast» burrito because breakfast is my favorite meal of the day! Their burrito is ginormous! Good enough to share… or if you’re really hungry. I’ve always shared my burrito. $ 5.50 for a burrito. can’t go wrong! You choose your type of meat: beef, chicken, chorizo or steak. I tend to mix it up depending on my mood of the day. Second, you choose your type of beans: black beans, refried or pinto. I normally choose black beans. You can minus the toppings or keep them all. I always keep them all: lettuce, tomato, sour cream… I can’t recall what else is in the burrito. Cooked fresh and the wait time isn’t too long… unless there’s a line out the door. Location: Conveniently located inside of Fort Street Mall, a little more towards Beretania Street, near Hangs Smooties. Parking: Maybe around Chinatown. this is more of a walk-to place. Food: I love their breakfast burritos… I keep going back! Price: Cheap… $ 5.50 for a HUGE burrito… if you share, that’s like $ 2.25 for breakfast lol Service: The Asian cashier is friendly, the cook is the one that recommends what I eat in my burrito. Super nice people. What else can I say? I love their breakfast burrito!!!

So sorry for the bad review; wanted to give a good one. I was starving after fasting all morning for a medical procedure for my messed up back across the street(and don’t believe this altered my opinion) and seriously needed some comfort food. This was one of the worst burritos I have ever encountered. The boss of this place says he is from the ‘SF Inner Mish’ which means a lot when it comes to real Mex food. Seriously bad burrito, much worse than anything from Taco Bell. Most of the supposedly ‘carnitas’ was fat or gristle. Even paid for the extra guacamole on the side; just a ribbon of oxidized green. Ughhh. Didn’t get sick though and friendly people so two stars… Life is too short to eat bad food… I strive to write good reviews of places I want to point out for my fellow Unilocalers, .maybe I hit this place at a bad moment in time, but I will not return unless I hear some real current kudos…

No nonsense quality burrito at reasonable price. Freshly chopped carnitas, rice, beans, pico, hot sauce and onions/cilantro for $ 6.20 tax included. Cheese, sour cream, guacamole available for a bit more but who needs it? Not huge, but good size. Fast service. Excited to try their other meats

First and last time here. Did I have a big ass burrito? You’re damn right I had a big ass burrito. Was it tasty? It was delicious! Was it affordable? Sure at $ 5.95 for choice of beans and meat, and spanish rice, it was a good value and I’m stuffed. So why three stars only? It’s cookie cutter. It’s exactly like Mondo Burrito in every way, including how they fold the burrito… down to the Pico de Gayo… or maybe Mondo is like them… chicken and the egg, it doesn’t matter. The point is the food is uninspired, tasty yes, for a quick and filling meal. You can get relatively healthy versions by going with shredded chicken and black beans, etc. Or even staright up vegetarian with no meat and mixed veges and tofu instead… which is good for an after gym meal… …but the food is typical of the new age«Subway» of burrito joints… it’s the new fast food burrito. So sorry, but not interesting enough… they don’t have the flavors I crave. But they are friendly there… so hit em up and decide for yourself.

My first meal to kick off 2016, at work in downtown, was La Mision Taqueria! Thanks to a suggestion from my co-worker(added with my love of Mexican food) we headed to Fort Street Mall across of HPU for lunch. The line was out the door so I knew this place must be good! As I stood in line, I was able to read the menu clearly as it is well organized, large printed and high enough above the counter for short people like me to clearly view. I decided on the regular burrito($ 5.95) not knowing the portion size. Unfortunately, they do not offer ground beef(yeah I know ground beef isn’t authentic Mexican, but still!) so I got the next best thing which was Shredded Chicken. The ordering process is similar to Taco Del Mar and Oahu Mexican Grill — line counter ordering. The counter help first asked what type of tortilla I wanted and I just went with regular flour. He then asked if I wanted cheese which I replied yes to, not knowing that it’s .65 cents for a slab of cheese which I don’t mind paying for but would appreciate if they told you it was an extra charge. Returning back to the picture of the menu I took(see below) the regular burrito only comes with meat, beans, rice and salsa. Also, the cheese they used was white cheese which seemed strange to be as I expected cheddar but it was still good. I got regular hot sauce, which was not hot at all and trust me, I Do Not Do Spicy. After the salsa, rice and refried beans were added to the burrito, I was greeted with a huge«regular» burrito!!! I watched as the counter help handed my order to the cashier who charged the man in front of me for my order. She handed my order to him in a bag and I couldn’t help but to ask him if he had also order a regular chicken burrito in which he stated he had not. So I told him that he had my order. The cashier took back the bag and confirmed my order was in that bag and instead handed it over to me. Of course I paid, but unfortunately the man in front of me had to stand on the side and wait for his order to be made because somehow it was lost in the transactions(they are busy!). I sat down on a 4-seater table, they have a handful of them, and started to unwrap the foil on my huge burrito. The tortilla was mushy and damp, so damp that it stuck to my teeth with every bite. I did not enjoy using my tongue and nails to get it off my teeth. The shredded chicken had 3 pieces of large cartilage mixed up in it that I spit out on my napkin! And overall the burrito temperature was hot, I waited a while for it to cool down and had to blow here and there in between bites. The burritos are large and very filling especially for only $ 5.95(not including cheese) which is hard to come across because I know for a fact that Taco Del Mar and Oahu Mexican Grill’s burritos are $ 7+ in comparison. The quality of the meat and tortilla are subpar but for freshly made, cheap Mexican lunch… in downtown, it’s not so bad! *They take credit card!

I’ve always wanted to try La Mission Taqueria but my work hours conflicted with their 7AM — 3PM hours of operation. Well, had the day off and I just had to go give them a try! The $ 5.95 standard burrito with meat, rice, beans and salsa is a great price, but more importantly very tasty and filling. Now, the protein portion wasn’t huge but I think at $ 5.95 it was way worth it. I noted that for $ 2 you can add extra meat. The current Owner, Steve, is from the Bay Area(as I’m from originally) and I miss the Mexican food from San Francisco(Valencia Street!). Hawaii has a very short list of good Mexican restaurants. La Mission is the closest that greatness in my 20 years here. Thank you Steve! I wasn’t sure when the next time I would be able to make a trip here and I loved their carne asada so much I had to get a second burrito to go!

Is this a new business from La Taqueria Ricardo? They are taking ownership of the previous establishment’s reviews. LoL Kinda Shady misrepresenting themselves… Sign out front says La Mision Taqueria, but the branding inside still says Ricardo… Takes money to make money. Spend a little and rebrand! Noticeably smaller than the previous owners burritos. Flavor was good, but i was expecting it to standout a la Mission District, SF…(owners hail from the Bay Area and tout Mission District inspired food) Ho hum…

Good spot for some hefty Mexican lunch plates. Located on Fort Street Mall, this place is a good go to for a full and heavy plate of Mexican food. I’ve been here a few times and the line is usually out the door.(Good sign.) The good thing is that the line moves fast. There are the regular choices of burritos, tacos and the like. I get the FRIEDBURRITOSPECIALPLATE. It’s a jam packed tortilla, flash fried with cheese, then add a choice of meat(chicken, carnitas, beef…) Then add your choice of beans, salsa, guacamole and mexican rice. You leave with an extremely heavy plate of food and a huge kanak attack. Give it a try if you’re in the area. You’ll likely have lots of leftovers.

I’m not a lover of comida de mexico but when the craving for it hit’s I like to try new places because nowhere on Oahu are there Mexican restaurants that do it very well. La Taqueria Ricardo is no different but they do have a decent breakfast burrito and that’s all I’ll ever eat here after trying their regular lunch burritos and being decidedly unimpressed. The beef in the beef burrito was old and rubbery tasting and I was regretting not walking down to Maria Bonita’s down on Hotel Street. Prices are cheap though.

Better than average Mexican Food for Oahu. It has one of the better vegetarian burritos on Oahu. I’m pretty sure most of the other food is good too. It is worth the hassle of finding parking and walking over here when I want a good burrito. I think the owners are Korean but at least some of the cooks are Mexican. It works for me. Venue: Fort Street Mall hole in the wall lunch place with limited hours that has no parking. But it does have a few tables that can get filled up at lunch time. There are other places to sit outside on Fort Street Mall too. Most people are on a 30 minute lunch break so they won’t be sitting for long. Food: My point of reference is the vegan burrito. 1. Whole wheat tortilla available at 65 cents extra. Steamed to soften so it can be wrapped tightly. 2. Spanish rice, choice of beans, pico de gallo, steamed cucumbers, grilled veggies and hot sauce. 3. Requested no cheese and no sour cream. 1 + 2 + 3 equals lots of flavor. This was a big and seriously good veggie burrito. I requested refried beans and Spanish rice as side dishes. Total price was less than $ 9 !! 4.5 Star burrito! This is about as good as you will find in Hawaii. Service: Fast and friendly! Perfect for office workers on a lunch break and poor starving HPU students. Eat half a burrito, after splitting it with your classmate, and you will sleep through your afternoon classes guaranteed. Vegan/vegetarian: They get it! So request no meat, cheese or sour cream. No problem! I’m saving that extra star for the time, if and when, when California Style super burritos arrive on Oahu.

Mexican paradise! I’ve been wanting to try this place for a month now, but the hours make it nearly impossible for anyone who works outside of town. I got off early this week and was able to swing by for lunch, and I am so glad I stopped by La Taqueria Ricardo. Atmosphere: Right new HPU campus in town. Near many other small restaurants in the Ford Street Mall. The place itself is pretty bare bones with small inside and outside seating. Service: Fast-casual. Reminiscent of Chipotle. Good service. Food: Best mexican that I’ve had so far on this island. I tried the super chicken burrito with black beans and man I am so glad I ordered this. My mouth had fireworks going on inside after my first bite of my burrito. Intangibles: There are many choices but this place tops my list of best Mexican places on the island. I only wish they had dinner hours or were open on the weekends.

At first I personally came here just to see what all the talk was about these jarritos. Jarritos is a flavored soda that is manufactured from Mexico that’s what it is basically a Mexican soda. It’s pretty good and I like the fact that they have a wide varieties of flavor I personally like the mandarin one. Think of La Taqueria Ricardo as a Mexican fast food eatery but in a good way. They have a customizable menu which I love and everything’s made in house from the daily fresh salsas, chili verde, guacamole, refried beans, Spanish rice, and all the meats. I like the fact that they make it in front of you so you can see and pick what you want in your burrito or tacos etc. However the downside which is why I only give them 4 stars –1 is the lack of personal hygiene. The person who was making my burrito did not wear gloves nor wash their hands after doing someone else’s order and starting on mines. But the size of that thing damnnnnn could fulfill you like a big order of a plate lunch. And the meats were sooooo good. They serve other traditional Mexican dishes as well like chimichangas, enchiladas, tacos etc. But most of the time I’m on the go so I usually just get a burrito my usual is a carne alsada«steak» burrito with refried beans, Spanish rice, cheese, and sour cream. La Taqueria Ricardo is another great eating establishment located in the fort street mall strip. So if you’re in that area and craving for some fast Mexican to go food try this place out.

I love this place. …and love is a strong worddddd. :) Discovered this little hidden joy while walking to have lunch with my boyfriend. Wasn’t too sure about how the food would be, but based on my past experiences(with the help of Unilocal of course), I thought I’d give it a try. Im so glad i did! :3 First things first, the food is very affordable. I had a super burrito(I think thats what its called), which comes with your choice of meat, rice, beans, lettuce, cheese, sour cream; basically the works. All for about $ 6 or $ 7. My boyfriend usually gets the salad, which comes with a choice of meat. Its a pretty big sized portion, all for about $ 6. Second thing… the food. So amazinggggg. The rice is nice and soft where its not mushy but just right. The meat is seasoned perfectly and juicy, and the salsa gives the burrito a nice kick. They grill or idk, do some heavenly magic to make the wrap(ughhhh, brain fart –___-’) where its nice and warm, soft but with a touch of some nice crispy spots. I just… cant…no words… to…describe. JUSTTRYIT. Now im the type of person that once Ive found something that I like, i stick to it. So ever since Ive tried the burrito, Ive stuck to it. But unfortunately, that means I havent tried other stuff, like a good Unilocaler should do. But I promise Unilocal,I will try that quesadilla one day! ^_~ Now as for service… Ive read complaints about how there wasnt much of good service. But every time Ive gone there, Ive had nothing but good service. The guy that makes the burrito is hilarious and always joking with me. I order my burrito without beans and he always jokes, saying«No! You will have the beans!» xP And the asian lady is always pleasant to me. *shrugs* Maybe we just catch them at the right time? It does get busy though; and they come in spurts. So dont be surprised if you come in and see a huge line. But dont worry; the guy moves pretty quickly. I promise Unilocal.I WILL try those quesadillas one day! :)

Cheap & plentiful does not trump flavor in my world. I ordered the special of the day, ‘fried’ burrito(your choice of meat) which came with rice and beans. While the fixins like guacamole and pico were decent, the carne asada was terrible. I expect some sort of char or grilled aspect to carne asada. Instead it tasted boiled and grainy. And by the way, the tortilla wasn’t ‘fried’ at all, it was simply marked on a Panini-like press. Mexican rice was okay, and the black beans weren’t too bad as well. Again, cheap and big portions, but I would not go back. Also, their assembly station is crazy messy… ingredients splattered everywhere. Sorry guys, I’ve had way better Mexican food at hole-in-the-wall eateries, this one just doesn’t quite cut it.

I have been eating in downtown for years. I don’t know why it took me so long to try La Taqueria Ricardo! I guess I never really crave Mexican food because it’s not that great in Hawaii. However I was meeting my bestie for lunch and she wanted Mexican food. That’s why I finally got around to checking this place out. When you get to the front of the line, they take your order on the left side. It kind of reminded me of a Mexican subway. Because they have all the ingredients out and load everything in the tortilla in front of you. After your food is made you pay for it at the cashier on the right. The Grub. [[ SUPERBEANANDCHEESEBURRITO $ 5.75 ]] This burrito is HUGE. For only $ 5 what the heck? Why did it take me so long to come here! The burrito is loaded with your choice of beans(pinto, black or refried), cheese, sour cream, rice and salsa. I don’t like spicy food so I was super relieved that the salsa inside was not spicy :)

If your ever in downtown there are many small places to go and eat. If you are here in the morning this is a go to place for breakfast. Located on fort street mall right by HPU La MIssion Taqueria serves the best burrito in downtown. This is a hole in a wall type of place. If you don’t mind that then come here. There is always outdoor seating if you wish to be in the outdoors. For $ 5 they serve the breakfast burrito. This is not your average taco bell size, there burrito is serious good and filling. You get a choice of meat, beans, eggs, cheese, fresh salsa, rice and hot sauce all inside your burrito. When they put your burrito together they fry it on the grill so when you bite into it you have that crisp bite. All I have to say is that you need to try it for yourself. You will be blown away.
