These folks are fantastic! After writing a scathing review of Young’s in Manoa Marketplace, I think it’s only fair to suggest an alternative — and this is it. Come to Hakuyosha! I have no idea how the staff behind the counter ALWAYS remember my name, despite the fact that it’s always months between my visits. I don’t even live in Hawaii anymore, and they still remember my name, my mother’s name, my father’s name, and probably even my dog’s name(although I haven’t tested that last part). The service is professional, thorough, and the care they take with the clothing is impeccable. Delicate items always return undamaged, and they will do their best to get even the smallest spots out, but if they can’t, they will make a note and let you know — they have pointed out spots so small that I didn’t even know they existed! The dry cleaning is NOT cheap, but no dry cleaning is, and at least at Hakuyosha you know it’s money well spent.

I’ve only been here several times and my visits were months apart. So you could imagine my surprise when one of the ladies behind the counter actually remembered my name! They do good work here. I’ve had shirts and pants pressed, suits dry cleaned, and simple repairs made such as new buttons sewn on. Their prices are affordable, they are relatively quick, although you can pay more for rush jobs. The service may not be chatty and friendly in that way, but who needs that? Each time I recall going, I’ve dealt with older gals that were reserved and respectful. This is a solid business that has been around for a while and according to the website has roots dating back to 1906. Though I’ve never taken advantage of it, they do pick up and delivery, as well as some specialized garment cleaning. If they’ve got a location near you(which they probably do) give ‘em a try!
