Went to visit my grandparents in Birmingham for the weekend and booked this hotel room due to the 4 minute drive from my grandparents and the included breakfast. Appearance wise, it looked nice and clean upon entering, but the hallways smelled of cigarette smoke, which was noticeable every time you left the room. Some places you would expect to smell cigarette smoke, like at a bar, not a hotel room. The blanket that was for the sofa bed was stained and worn out. The king bed was however super comfy and the guy that checked us in was friendly. Breakfast the next morning was ok… i enjoyed the frittata but the bread was stale and the coffee was horrible. Just an average experience…

Completely poor service. Night staff was upset they asked us to change out feather pillows then the breakfast attendant snapped at us twice. We had booked a return trip a week later before our vacation and were hoping to cancel. We booked on and the rep there was trying to be helpful. After talking to Rhonda at the hotel, the rep informed me that they would not cancel the night. Then, I spoke directly to Rhonda and she was rude about the decisions the staff made and also was rude about the fact she would not cancel. I would highly advise not booking a stay at this hotel. Not to mention the whole first floor smelled of smoke.

Checked in at 10:30pm on a Tuesday. It wasn’t our first choice but everything else was full. They gave us a studio king for $ 98. It was clean and everything worked we only stayed one night and did not try the breakfast but other than the occasional moaning from next door which we thought was hilarious we got a good nights rest if you need a decent place to stay for $ 100 dollars or less I would highly recommend this hotel.

Very clean. Breakfast was good. King suite room was good as well. Blanket for the sofa bed was worn out and should have been thrown away. The owners family lived near my room on the fourth floor and had loud and unruly family members or guests –I had to tell them to be quiet at 10:30pm. This hotel runs the a/c in the hallways at 80 degrees — too hot and too humid. I would have given 5 stars, but hotel owners and their family should know how to behave in their own hotel.

Nice, clean and well appointed suites hotel. I was in B’Ham for my nephews law school graduation. Close to everything and although hidden I’ll stay there again.

Have you ever stayed a hotel that’s brand spanking new? This Country Inn and Suites still has that new hotel smell. I was told that it just opened a month ago and the room we stayed in had possibly not been occupied before. How cool was that? There were still some labels on the furniture and tub that they had forgotten to take off. There are two nice flat screens and the suite was well-appointed. The king sized bed was very comfortable and was a nice quality. I won’t go into too many details… I just wanted to tell the world that a new hotel on Lakeshore is completed, has great service, great cookies, and was the cheapest mainstream hotel in the area. Seriously, what more could you ask for?
