Candlewood Suites Birmingham/Homewood

Service at this hotel is the worst ever in my years of travel. They checked somebody else into my room under my credit card. When they tried to fix it, they had somebody else credit card for my room. There is no manager on duty. When I called the hotline, an Indian lady answered the phone and told me NOT to worry about it.
I walked out. Pretty sure I will never come back to this place.

All in all this was a pretty nice hotel. It was clean and the front desk staff was very friendly. The bed wasn’t the most comfortable but it was okay. However, if I am ever travelling with my pets again and need to stay in Birmingham this is not the property I would choose. When I made the reservation, I thought I was booking a different Candlewood property. I called a week or so before my arrival to find out the pet fee and it was $ 15 the first night and $ 10 each additional night. I was overjoyed! Unfortunately, I was calling the wrong property. I tried to check in at the wrong property but obviously had no reservation. I called the Homewood property to see if I could switch my reservation but they said since they are owned by different people I could do that if I wanted to but I would still be charged for my room at the Homewood property. That made sense and I didn’t want to pay for a room we didn’t use. So we drove to Homewood. I checked in with no problem since my reservation was actually at this property. However, the pet fee at this hotel is $ 75 for the first night. I don’t know how much it was for each additional night since we were only staying one. I was really upset. That additional $ 60 hadn’t been in my vacation budget. I told the desk clerk the fee at the other property is $ 15 and she said, «Wow. That’s a lot better. We should change ours.» And she’s right. I’m not complaining about the hotel. It was nice and I would stay here again provided I don’t have the dogs with me. But if the pet fee at this hotel is still $ 60 more than at the other property, I will choose the other property every time. I would have paid the same amount if I had just stayed at the first property and let my room in Homewood go

Amazing! I can’t believe that the same company owns the two Candlewood Suites at which I’d stayed in North Carolina and Alabama. The Alabama hotel rocks! Very clean, helpful and friendly staff and a joy to return to after a long days work. If I’d had one issue, I suppose the wifi could be better, but certainly tolerable. I’ll be back and look forward to staying there again.
