TownePlace Suites Birmingham Homewood

Reasonable priced, cozy and comfortable hotel just outside of downtown Birmingham. The room was spacious and the kitchen had miniature appliances perfect for a hotel room. The TV was strategically mounted on a wall and could be rotated to face almost every angle of the room. Breakfast was adequate with a waffle maker, variety of cereals, fruits, bagels, and English muffins. The only con was a tiny pool awkwardly located in front of the main building and facing the parking lot.

2) Studio apartment quality including kitchenette and den, along with the bedroom
3) I stayed in this hotel over 6 months ago (April 19^th to April 21^st) but the stay is still fresh on my mind
4) A REAL complimentary breakfast with things you don’t normally see, including sausage biscuits.
5) Great deal on Priceline

After staying here again, this place has really been run down. I’m not sure if their standards have dropped or what. First, we had to change rooms because the first one was a handicapped room and was oddly laid out so that was no big deal. But when we got in our new room there was a nasty smell like someone threw a party in it the last day ago. The chairs and couches were nasty and worn out. The couch had some sort of dried white stain on it which I don’t want to know what it was. In our bedroom, there was throw up on the side of the bed by the table. The fire alarm battery was low I guess so it would chirp every 10 seconds and the TV in the living room wouldn’t work. This hotel has been neglected, it used to be nice but now it is a 1 star motel in my opinion. Thankfully the staff was apologetic and refunded my money and I checked out of the hotel two days early to find another.

Hotel staff is very friendly. Rooms are open and spacious. Full kitchen is a very nice benefit. Location is desirable. However, the hotel is older. You can still smell the smoke in the walls from years past. They use a very pungent deodorizer in the room that is overwhelming. I’ve not been impressed with any of the 3 Marriott brand hotels I’ve stayed in in Alabama.

Continental breakfast from 7 – 10 a.m. Beds were comfortable. I have stayed in nicer places but it was clean and I was tired. I would stay here again.
