Very overpriced for very small portions. Pasta was gross. I could make a better microwave pasta!

The food was good and our waiter, Jason, was very friendly. We were disappointed when we received our bill and we had an automatic gratuity of 18% for 4 people. The waiter said they do it for everyone. Not good!

I’ve been to Jake’s several times, but last night was an exceptional experience. Both servers who waited on us were fun, personable and efficient. The food was fabulous; we had Guiness battered onion rings, a blackened Grouper sandwich, and shrimp tacos. Even my beer connoisseur filled family was pleased with the selection of bottles.

I like music but this was way too loud, could only stay for one drink. They drink was a little on the weak side as well, service was ok.

My first meal in Florida. The service was good, the food was actually pretty good too; well I ordered one lobster taco and one fish taco(grouper fish), the plate came with chips, I’m guessing to add texture to the plate cause it didn’t come with salsa, the tacos tasted good BUT, if you weren’t told you wouldn’t be able to tell that it was a lobster taco. It just tasted like two different fish tacos(by texture not taste) but it was flavorful. The rum punch was on sale for $ 5 a cup so I got my first drink there too. I think the rum punch is always on sale there, it was written on one of those sidewalk boards, but they also had like a neon light sign that said the same thing, which leads me to believe with a sign like that it’s a forever sale. So anyway I get my cup and right as I was gonna take the first sip there’s a dead bug floating in the ice; I didn’t complain because I figured the next cup would probably be about the same since the bar is right on the beach. I just got the bug out, finished my drink and left, hopefully the rum killed all the other germs the bug brought in .lol Oh! One complaint, pricey ass food for the plate I got, $ 21 dollars for 2 tacos and a $ 5 dollar drink, now that’s some BS.

Wow. Ordered a shot of Captain Morgan’s for my boyfriend. $ 9. For a shot. One shot. Of Captain Morgan’s. I was baffled at first, and asked if there was a mistake. The«waiter» said, «no». I asked, «is this the Saturday night price?» he said, «no, this is the going rate down here». WOW.

Went again on Sunday. Again, great fish tacos, conch fritters and my son had the burger which was excellent. 4 or 5 really good microbrews on draft and great views of ocean and people watching. One of my favorite places on Hollywood beach. Live music was as good as it gets. Great place.

Jakes is what a beach bar should be: — a relaxed atmosphere — a changing menu and bar — a great cast of characters from staff to patrons I’m not one to experiment with a lot of different meals but everything I have had(burgers, nachos, salmon, margarita pizza, etc) has been great. The one time my burger wasn’t prepared as I liked, the staff quickly had another made and brought out to me — and that’s what service is about. From the casual atmosphere during weekdays to the rocking live music weekends, Jake’s nails the proper atmosphere for a beach bar.

This was my second time visiting jakes on the beach. I really enjoyed it the first time, hence why I came back. This time was a whole different story. First of all we were the only people in there and the service was so slow. I ordered a water and they charged me $ 2… Really… $ 2 for a water… My husband questioned the charge for water and asked it to be removed the response was«well did she drink it?» Also, there is an automatic 18% gratuity added which I thought was insane for 2 people. Honestly I am a generous tipper and if they hadn’t of charged for the water that $ 2 would have gone into a tip… Also, with the new IRS law that started jan. 31st it is illegal to charge«gratuity» they can charge a service fee bit not gratuity. My advice is to stay far, far away!

Terrible Service! Wow! What a poor experience. Food was ok, but the level of customer service from our waitress was so bad that I wondered if she was working or hanging out with her local buddies. There’s a lot of places up and down the boardwalk… I would highly recommend keep walking and find a pace where they truly appreciate customers.

I came here to see my friend, «Acoustic Bodhi» play on a Friday night. I had no idea what to expect and was pleasantly surprised! They had another performer as well — the music, of course, was great! Bartenders were friendly, there was a nice selection of beer on tap and prices were reasonable. We also enjoyed really good calimari and nachos. The only drawback is that it was really windy and cold that night, and Jake’s is totally exposed to the elements. Being right on the beach is awesome in more clement weather! Good think I had a jacket with me!

My last review was on a quiet weekday night — this time it was my birthday on a Friday night. Last time it was for the food, this review is for the service(cause their food is amazing) I’m so very glad we got there early for my party of 13 because if we didn’t grab those tables they would have been filled… plus the staff came over every 15 min assuring us the ones taking up one of the tables would be leaving soon lol The manager, Jason, came over and was very personable — even asking us if we’d been before cause we looked familiar. He introduced himself and then offered me a free drink cause it was my birthday! Woo! The blue Rum Runner was quite amazing and eventually my party showed up… freakin Miami time. We ordered and sat and watched the blue moon rise over the ocean, listened to two different bands we were there so long and had an enjoyable time. I ordered the lobster tacos — one thing. Last time they brought me 3 tacos filled, this time they brought a whole main lobster and the tacos for you to fix. Jason said they change the menu like that to go with the season. Well, everyone else got their food and then I was informed that the first lobster they cooked for me cooked too much and shrunk so they made another one for me. I thought that was really good of them. Plus I was offered another drink to make up for it! No more Rum Runners for me, I would have been under the table lol… a nice Pina Colada to calm me down. I say, if you’re looking for a place to sit, drink and people watch without wanting conversation with your dinner partner go on a weekend night after 8. If you want to talk to your dinner partner and not have to deal with the bar crowd go on a weeknight… The staff is wonderful and very helpful — they’re all there to take your order and help each other out.

Took 2 friends for my 3rd visit to Jake’s. The owners are lovely. The ocean breeze is terrific and the food is great. I love that it’s a mom-and-pop business.

Service was definitely lacking, I’m pretty sure only one waiter was working, and seemed very disinterested in watching tables. I had the fish tacos, which I found small, soggy and overpriced. Ordered Bacardi only to hear that they had run out of Bacardi. Or did they just never have it? It did appear they had every single Pinnacle Vodka flavor, I’m not a vodka drinking, but I guess that might appeal to someone.

Jake’s is a great place for a nice, leisurely, casual lunch by the beach. Their food seems to be better than some of the other restaurants near the water in Hollywood. I had a Chicken Caesar wrap with fries, which was quite good as far a wrap goes. The ingredients were fresh, just the right amount of chicken and dressing. The fries were just standard crinkle cuts. My husband had the lobster tacos, which he liked, but not as much as he thought he would. Two of them filled him up, though, and he believe me, he can eat. The service was pretty awesome. Our server never let our drinks go empty, and he was always around when we needed him. The prices on the food and beer were pretty reasonable. I love, love, love the atmosphere at Jake’s, and the fact that they have live entertainment on Saturday’s. I think it is my new favorite by the beach restaurant.

I came here on New Years day with my family to people watch, take in the breeze from the ocean, and listen to live music. What a perfect way to kick of 2012, and Jake’s definitely made it possible. There are tons of places along the boardwalk in Hollywood, but thus far, Jake’s really does have the best vibe and the best fish dip. I think last time I was there, my margarita was a beer margarita because they don’t serve liquor, so FYI on that if you were expecting something a little stronger than beer or wine. They almost always have live music on the weekends(not sure about weekdays), and it’s a small group of people that own and operate it, including Jake! You’ll see the same faces, and they’re always very welcoming. Prices are reasonable, portions are big, and again, that fish dip is phenomenal.

Don’t be fooled, if you put lipstick on a pig its still a pig. Same ownership as the former HBW, with the same atrocious service and food. Ok, maybe fine for an afternoon beer, but we went at 9 pm on a Saturday and place was empty. Out of two entrees, we settled for lobster nichos. Cold and tasteless, everything clumped together.

Perfect location on Hollywood Beach. Great view of the Atlantic and amazing people watching! The drinks(I had frozen daiquiris) were strong and refreshing! The service was prompt and very friendly. The Interior of the open tiki like restaurant was clean, casually but nicely decorated, and gave a good vibe. My BLT with avocado was GREAT! My friends blue cheese stuffed bacon cheese burger was also very good! A great place to stop in while still in your swim suit, have a beer and a burger. The only problem I had was the VERY loud country music — but I’ll be back!

Oh yeah, Lobster Taco’s FTW!!! And at $ 4 a pop, you can eat like a king on a pauper’s salary(because not all of us can be Bank CEO’s) Here’s what you do. Get up late on Sunday after a night out on the town, throw on something relatively beachy, or not. Schlep your ass to Hollywood and find parking(yeah, still a bitch in this part of town but persevere… believe me. its worth it). Then hightail yourself over to Jakes on the Beach. Right on the Boardwalk at New York Street. Ask for Jason. Order a UFO beer and a Lobster Taco(Spicy). Swill back the beer while waiting for the taco and order another one. Jason will bring it in a big olé tankard loaded with Iced Water to keep it cool cos MUDDERAGOD it’s FREAKINGHOT out there. Sit back, pop on your shades, listen to the Guitar man rocking some Dylan, Buffet and Van the Man and take yourself away from the world.

This is a family owned restaurant right on Hollywood beach. The food is awesome, I’ve had several dishes here, my favorite being the pulled pork, but they also have am awesome black and blue burger and excellent seafood dishes. The atmosphere is casual — open air, facing the ocean. They have a great selection of micro-brews and even have menu pairing suggestions. This is my favorite place to eat on Hollywood beach, by far, and I definitely recommend it.
