August Moon Chinese Restaurant

The only Chinese restaurant with good sesame seed chicken. Also the crab Rangoon is really good. Best part: decently priced and super fast delivery.

EVERYONE PLEASE READ! I been eating at august moon for a year and a half now, and although the food is usually pretty good, I will never eat there or let anyone I know eat there again!!! Today as I was serving my delivered dinner special! A huge COCKROACH WAS MIXED IN WITH MY BURBOUN CHICKEN! THE ROACH WAS COOCKED! AND you can even hear a thud as it hit my plate… I am so disgusted! Then when I spoke to a manager he said I would have to bring the food back in order to get my money back!!! So he wanted me to dig up food I already threw in my trash can, including a COCKROACH! That came from their restaurant!!! Ppl I advise you do not eat here!!!

FYI when the front customer areas and restrooms are nasty, you can bet your good money the kitchen is REALLY FILTHY!!!

Worst resturant ever witness in my life. There is no respect in this place. I was hurried to eat, there is no service here.

I ordered based on the reviews. My delivery guy was a white older man with glasses. He said couldn’t find my apartment so I let him know where it was and when he got there (Its a duplex with 3 doors) he kept cutting me off (I was trying to make sure he was at the right door because he never knocked) saying rudely «I’m here, come outside. can you come outside I’m here. just come outside I’m here I’m here». Mind you he was outside my door for all of 8 seconds. I had to tell him on the phone to quit being rude because it will effect my tip. That’s when he stopped. I opened the door and gave him the money WITH tip anyway. The pepper steak was really saucy but the sauce had next to no taste. AT least the garlic wings were good. Wouldn’t recommend sorry.

Wow placing an order for delivery (healthy tipper btw) I work 2 min away and I was just calling for some lunch and the girl tells me to hang up and call later because she’s to busy to finish taking my order! So disgusted by the service and the way I was treated on the telephone not even to my face! She was very rude and impatient and I didn’t appreciate that one bit! Especially since me and all my coworkers always order from them and spend money there regularly! Very disappointed and disgusted by your service August Moon! I will never return not even if I’m starving or desperate! TRY HUNAN WOK! Very polite staff not a sketchy location and the food is always so good! And it’s near this area! August Moon=Desperate Diner Alert! Disgusting service! Disgusting staff! Disgusting location! Stay away!

Stopped in one afternoon for sweet-​and-​sour chicken which was lackluster at best
So my order was $ 10.17 and the next day I look at my bank account and they charge me for $ 29.39 Buyer beware!!! they will rip you off and give you a receipt for one price and then charge your card for another
The whole building is disgusting and they need to shut this place down.

If your desperate for something cheap and psuedo-​Chinese, place is okay. Nothing to write home about the food is authentic as the Spanish food Taco Bell serves. If you don’t have an iron stomach, get something for your stomach first.

Good, cheap, fast chinese food. Its not extraordinary but its pretty good and the prices are very reasonable.

Ducked in prior to reading the reviews. Had I consulted Unilocal first, I never would’ve visited. But you know how it is, your schedule gets away from you, and your best thought plans to manage your diet fall apart, and you are desperate and hungry. That was me. And when I get hungry I get impatient, curt, angry, and short of temper.
So I ducked in and got a large Pork Fried Rice and a large Won Ton Soup to go. The soup tasted a little «off.» Specifically the noodles /​pasta pockets that reside in the soup. I shall not order that, here, again.
The PFR was actually pretty tasty. I enjoyed it, and so did Buddy Cat. He got quite a few pork morsels. Both of us feel fine. Yay!
I visited during the lunch time of the work day. Nobody inside except staffers. The décor, both inside and out is TIRED. Dirty. Sad. It is hot inside, too, because they use window A/C’s (I counted 2) to cool a space too large. And the joint looks beaten down, run down, dirty, and bedraggled.
The guy who took my order was well-​spoken and very friendly. He and an older and less-​enthusiastic woman (his mother?) got into quite a discussion in their native tongue after I ordered. I now imagine she was telling him «you don’t sell soup!» but I don’t know.
I wish them well, I really do. But it appears from the soup and physical plant that they have already surrendered.
Sad face. I wish all businesses to succeed.

Went to this place a few days ago to pick up an order on the way home that my wife ordered… Boy I will NEVER EVER! Buy from here again and advise all STAY AWAY…

I just read a prior review about the guy with food poisoning. I now understand why.
Stay away, there is something wrong with this place.
PS we did NOT EAT THAT food I picked up, I refused to give it to our kids. Or me for that matter.

August Moon’s a Hollywood staple for cheap, humdrum American-​Chinese food.
It’s run of the mill from every other Chinese place you’ve been to, the difference is that it’s probably been in the Hollywood area the longest.
I’d say they’ve been in business for 15+ years? Even with all the new American-​Chinese addition, August Moon’s always under the aegis of the locals.
The food’s average, but the service is always on point — always.

Decent, Americanized Chinese food. I’ve ordered delivery from them a few times and nothing really disappointed. However, nothing really impressed either. Very standard all the way around, and I have ordered a variety of items. Normally I would give 2 stars for this but the staff on the phone and delivery guys are really nice and they bring the food on-​time and don’t mess up the order. Prices are also very reasonable.

I’ve lived in Hollywood for a long time and many locals go to this place. I do NOT understand why. I’ve been the lucky recipient of food poisoning TWICE here… The 2^nd trip my in laws wanted to go there, despite my previous experience. STAY AWAY!
