This is one of my favorite spots in hoboken. I order here regularly for lunch and they have great service. They also have great seating at the restaurant, very casual. I have loved everything I’ve tried! They have a great house salad with goat cheese and chicken; so good! The maximus sandwich is on point and a good size. Their pizza is awesome and fresh. Also, a lot of my coworkers like the Buffalo chicken balls! Definitely a great addition to hoboken. Everyone needs to eat here!

Been waiting try Frankie and Ava’s for a while now. It’s a nice generous space, very open and has outdoor seating to enjoy the summer. The husband and I split the Endive salad and the Gardillo sandwich — both were fairly okay. The sandwich was simple, and slightly under-seasoned…on the drier side. The spread on the sandwich is a basil oil, but it was quite sparse, making the bread hard to chew. I appreciate that they have an extensive menu and something for everyone. I’m curious to try their pastas.

We ordered delivery and it was fast! Unfortunately for us that was the only good thing. The Gnoccho Ava was pretty bland, possibly because it’s made out of white sauce. Plus the Gnocchi is pricey so I was pretty disappointed. The buffalo chicken balls were decent but the sauce with it could have been better. Lastly we ordered meatball parmigiana and once again fairly disappointed in the taste. It was nothing special. There are plenty of italian places around so we most likely going to skip Frankie and Ava’s italian eatery in the future.

It’s not worth the hassle. You order on the counter and then sit down. If you have a problem with a dish you either take it up to the counter or wait for her to notice you. They forgot dressing on my salad. Then gave me balsamic vinaigrette instead of house as mentioned on the menu. I mean what’s the point then. But the pasta was tasty. Lots of sauce just as I like it. Not spicy though even after requesting. Service isn’t bad. Just not attentive.

I’m Italian who grew up only eating out of the delis that had old, bald, half-English speaking Sicilians slicing the di Parma in front of my face. This is not that place. The atmosphere is modern and really cool, I’d take a date here for lunch. The sandwiches are awesome. Probably the best grilled chicken/chicken cutlet sandwiches in Hoboken. And the toppings actually have taste. I remember biting into a sandwich with sun dried tomato and thinking how good the tomato was. Pizza is solid, it’s lighter then your average slice though. Buffalo balls are amazing. Rice balls are good. Eaten here 5+ times, 0 bad meals.

I ordered an arugula salad with grilled chicken to go. It was prepared pretty quickly, which was great. And the ingredients were fresh. What I didn’t appreciate is that when the menu states one thing and that’s not what you get, then change the menu. When it says roasted almond, then roast them. Don’t toss in raw almond splits, they are so bland. And grated reggiano will never make it up for a great shaved reggiano as you listed would be in the salad. Lastly the dried cranberries unfortunately never made it to my salad bowl. There are so many places to get salads from in Hoboken, so you need to do better to stay in the game. You have a lovely little spot, make sure the cooks know how to combine and prep things.

I stopped by this place on Friday afternoon while working from home to pick up some lunch. I orders a chicken cutlet, mutz, broccoli rabe, and balsamic sandwich. The order process was quick and easy, however I was quite disappointed with the quality of the ingredients. The chicken and the broccoli rabe were a bit too oily for my taste and the bread could be a little bit fresher. There are better Italian delis in town than this place if you are looking for an Italian sandwich.

I wasn’t wowed by this joint(but there’s a reason for the 4 stars). I think it has a little bit of an identity crisis on whether it wants to be a take out or a sit down kinda place. The inside of the restaurant is setup kinda strange. It’s a little too open and the tables are placed kind of oddly, making it awkward if you are a walk in customer. I had the chicken parm sandwich which was just ok. The chicken cutlets seemed properly breaded and fried, but we’re soggy on the sandwich, and had a lot of fat or tendon making it kind of tough to bite. Also the sauce was just ok. Not a lot of flavor but better than you would get from a regular old pizza joint. Now, for the 4 stars. This place has the best buffalo chicken balls I’ve ever had in my life. And I’ve had a lot of balls. These perfectly crispy balls are loaded with shredded chicken, tangy buffalo sauce, and just the right amount of cheese. Often balls like this are loaded with fillers like rice or veggies, but these are just loaded with the perfect amount of chicken. I am really impressed with how they were able to get them to be perfectly crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. I’m not sure if this place can survive on buffalo chicken balls alone, but if they can step up their sandwich and ambiance games, they could hit it outta the park.

Wish I could give 3.5 stars. Ordered take-out at 6:30 on a Friday and they delivered by 7. Very impressive! We split one order of rice balls(2 with a side of marinara), one Caesar salad, and a chicken parm sandwich(comes with fries). Food was pretty good, especially for the price! Enjoyed the salad and sandwich… liked their mozzarella and sauce, Italian bread was good as well. Wish the rice balls had a little more flavor. Our total came to around $ 20, and there was plenty of food for both of us to split everything. Would definitely like to come in for lunch!

It’s very very simple — this place is phenomenal. Everything I’ve tried is delicious and the staff is great. It’s one of the best places to grab a bite in Hoboken.

Ate here for dinner with a couple friends. Service was nice and friendly. Fast, casual type Italian spot. I had prosciutto sandwich that was on point and fired buffalo chicken balls that were delicious. One friend had a personal pizza that was a good size and she liked a lot. I feel like they could have a couple more tables in the event it gets busy, but otherwise no real complaints. Will come back often!

Innocent until proven guilty right? 4 stars might be a little premature since this place just recently opened, and I happened to be starving at 4:30 when Washington is still kind of quiet, but something has to be said for the fact that I devoured my sandwich in unladylike fashion. There were 2 guys at the counter, and together they helped me narrow down my choice. I picked a hot sandwich over cold, meat over veggies, and that is how I arrived at the Chicken Parm. It seemed to be one of their signatures, so why the heck not. While I waited, I saw they had some pre-made pizzas and chicken cutlets out on the counter. I didn’t see either of them grab one of the pre-made cutlets for my sandwich so that was reassuring. I’m sure when things get busy, they just reheat. Anyway, I took it to-go and when I finally sat to eat I was impressed. 3 layers of tender chicken, not overly breaded, smothered in fresh mozzarella and great Italian bread. My only complaint was that I wish there was more sauce or least some extra on the side. It wasn’t jaw dropping, but for under $ 10, very much worth it. I ate the entire thing so that has to count for something. Normally, it comes with fries but I wasn’t in need of more carbs so I went for a side salad. Eager to come back and try a couple other things.

After shoveling two cars out of 26 inches of snow I was hungry and had a craving for a nice Italian sandwich. It was then I thought I would give F&A’s a whirl, and a good thought it was. Order — Hendo sandwich, buffalo chicken balls and a slice of pizza. Pizza — wasn’t planning on getting a slice but very happy I did. This isn’t a «typical» pizza. It’s a square pie like Sicilian, but with a super thin crispy crust similar to what my grandmother used to make. I definitely recommend if you’re sick of all the other pizza places in town. Hendo — the sandwich was good. Nothing that this town doesn’t already have, but good to see it done right like others that have been here for decades. Buffalo Chicken Balls — unfortunately I can’t review the correct balls. I ordered to go and when I got home it was then I took my first bite and realized I was given rice balls. That said, the rice balls were good as well. They came with a nice marinara sauce to dip the balls in. My final thoughts are while F&A’s isn’t doing anything new, what they are doing is very good. If they can stay in business with Hoboken rent prices there’s no reason why this place shouldn’t be around for years to come.

Very solid spot. I live about 100 ft away and was very intrigued as they were building out the eatery. I’ve been there 3 times in the past 2 weeks and even with a small snag during my first attempt, I still have to go with 4 stars. We have a non dairy eating human in our family so I requested a particular wrap with no cheese and sure enough I get home and there’s cheese on it. The main guy running the counter could not have been anymore apologetic or accomidating and they even let me keep the wrong wrap anyway!(Lunch for me the next day. Bonus!) Cute interior and while I wouldn’t necessarily go there for a dinner date, it is the perfect spot for lunch or a casual meal. The food quality is super high and my 100% Italian wife vouches for the authenticity. We split 3 antipasti, all were delicious. 2 small words of wisdom of wisdom to the owner: 1 — Smile! 2 — Put some gourmet chips out for sale to go with the sandwiches, they will sell like umbrellas in a typhoon. Luca Brasi — you have some serious competition in downtown Hoboken. Keep it up Frankie and Avas, I wish you continued success.

Decent italian food. Café Michelina remains as my favorite italian spot in hoboken. I ordered the meatball parmigiana sandwich which came with a side of fries. The only thing that I enjoyed about the sandwich was the homemade marinara sauce but the sandwich barely had any of it!

Woohoo! I got crispy chicken cutlets on my sandwich today! Great job with our big lunch order. Excellent service. I was a bit disappointed when the girl over the phone said they were out of broccoli rabe, so I got the Ava instead. It had sautéed spinach that was to die for! 7 people ordered lunch for $ 70. That’s unheard of for Hoboken. Not to mention they all gave rave reviews. Definitely will be back.

Had dinner with the Family at the new Frankie and Ava’s last night. We ordered the fried eggplant panini, arugula salad and plain pizza. The food was excellent — very tasty. Prices are reasonable, and the interior is nice, clean and modern. The service was very friendly, though the staff seemed just a bit disorganized I’m sure because they just opened and are getting into their groove — so really not a big deal. I really like this place and their menu has plenty of interesting sandwiches offered. I highly recommend it and will be back!
