I decided to get my nose pierced. Googled areas in hilo & came across «sin city». My fam is related to kala, so it made my decision easy. But, everyone in there is very friendly! I like that they take walk-in’s for body piercings. When we walked in the shop, its very clean & smells very sterile. Kala is amazingly awesome! He knows what he’s doing & he does it so quickly. The piercing was very affordable too, & that’s including the solution to clean the piercing. I recommend this place to everyone. They stand by everything they advertise

I’ve been seeing KALA for all my piercing needs for about 8 years now. & he is the most cleanest, trustworthy piercer I know. He takes his time and makes you feel at ease before that big needle goes through. He is also funny & really an all over nice guy.
I’ve had my tongue, eyebrow, piko, lip & just recently got the vertical tragus done on both on my right and left side.
If you’re in need of any type of piercings I recommend KALA!

I’ve gone here twice now for tattoos and this place is great. Chance Hulse is an amazing tattooist! GREAT line work, portraits, I don’t think there is anything he can’t do. All the other guys in the shop are nice and seem to be at the top of their game. Place has an inviting vibe and is clean. There are a lot of tattoo shops in Hilo and it’s best to just save your time in searching and come to this one.

Kala is amazingly professional, expertly trained and very relaxing.
Robert is an amazing tattoo artist who doesnt halfass anything.
The shop is VERY clean, organized and professional.
There is no reason to go anywhere else.

I have gotten majority of my piercings here (ear piercings, surface piercings, microdermals, skin divers), and I would not trust anywhere else on this island, and furthermore, anywhere else in this state!!! I have heard my share of horror stories about less-​than-​reputable places here and on other islands… places botching a regular nose piercing, places not knowing what to do with a piercing that won’t stop bleeding, places not using standard implant-​grade jewelry, places charging ridiculously high prices for piercings which aren’t even likely viable… Unlike piercers who only care about your money and will do any piercing regardless of saftey/​suitability for the client; Kala actually cares about his customers and is always very professional and informative before/​after doing any piercings. He talks you through the whole process and makes you feel comfortable with whatever you’re getting done.
Standard piercings (ear, bellybutton, etc.) and surface piercings are $ 30. Microdermals are $ 60 each. I think this is very affordable pricing because I’ve heard of other places which charge, for example, upwards of $ 75 for one microdermal. On a sidenote, If you’re getting surface piercings, I would highly recommend the punch & taper method & flat surface bars!
So overall, Sin City is very clean and sterilized, you can tell the atmosphere is completely professional. Kala, Jessi, & Robert all do amazing, quality work. I would highly recommend Sin City to anyone who would like to get a piercing/​tattoo. Getting even regular ear piercings done at an actual piercing studio like Sin City versus somewhere like Claire’s may be more pricey (and somewhat intimidating?); but it is VERY worth it for the PROPER piercing methods, jewelry, and aftercare info you will get out of it.

I have gotten almost all of my piercings here, and I would never go anywhere else. Extremely hygienic and professional.

Extremely professional. Very clean. Very Informative. Ive gotten at least 5 Piercings from Kala. My mom even felt good taking me there when I was in high school for piercings. Last year, I got my nose pierced again. But I did something stupid, and went to Pirates By the Sea in Kona because I was impatient, and I was already In Kona. The guy that pierced me was nice, but did not explain anything to me, or suggest any sort of after-​care. I knew it was kind of sketchy because I was already used to Kala, and him keeping me very well informed. Luckily I already know after-​care for piercings from Kala, because I wouldnt have gotten that knowlege from Pirates By the Sea. So there you have it. Sin City, don’t be impatient and go anywhere else, you will be sorry.

I am a 41 year old from the SF area who decided to get my left nostril pierced in honor of Obama winning the election. (I gotta be me.)
I was staying in Kona and asked around. Sin City was recommended. So we drove over to Hilo and I asked around some more because the outside of the place looked a little questionable. They were the recommended folks in Hilo too so we went in.
Nice people, making a sort of scary thing a lot more comfortable.
Everything was explained to me in detail. Very professional.
BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY— CLEAN!!! Very, very clean. I am a nurse so I knew what to be looking for in the technique. The instruments were sterilized, the needles were taken from sterile packages, the guy washed his hands, etc.
Aftercare was explained to me in detail.
I just really was pleased with the overall experience and don’t anticipate one once of trouble with this piercing.
Furthermore, they were cheaper that what others had quoted me.

Kala at Sin City is the most down-​to-​earth, professional piercer I have ever met. I have gotten several different piercings from him and he has always been very gentle, hygienic, informative and knowledgeable. His shop is pretty cool too and it is really clean and with a lot of cool international (especially African-​themed) décor. If you ever see him, you will immediately trust that he knows what he is doing. He is covered from head to toe in piercings, tattoos, branding, scarifications, you name it. He is a work of art, and he is awesome so if you are looking to get pierced on the Big Island I highly recommend you go to him.
