Bryan Booth Antiques & Restoration

A fun, interesting store loaded with some real gems. They have some great items for those serious about collecting and informative friendly staff.

Bryan hsd lots of aloha and unique and wonderful pieces. Several times I have gone into the store looking for something in particular, and found what I wanted. A few vintage items can give a lot of character to a room otherwise furnished in a spare way. I am grateful we have this shop in Hilo.

Huge store… lots of stuff everywhere and outside. It’s an antique store… what does one expect, lol!
Bryan, the owner stayed opened late for us as we arrived there right at closing. He was pretty knowledgeable and answered a lot of our questions. The bf and I browsed for what seemed to be hours. A lot of the stuff we liked were big or dangerous (i.e. knives & swords) and couldn’t bring with us on the airport. Most of the items were super expensive. The bf ended up getting a small jewelry box for his mom. We had to buy something, the poor guy stayed opened late for us.

The namesake of this store, Bryan Booth, is a very down-​to-​earth and hospitable guy. When I first walked in, him and his wife both warmly greeted me and we talked stories for a bit before I started browsing the store (which is expansive, by the way!) Later on, his wife asked if I wanted some water to drink and gave me a bottle of water right there and then! Das why I love my Hilo town. :) So full of aloha these people.
The store is pretty expansive and takes up two large sections with a smaller sub-​room in the back. He specialized in a lot of European and Hawaiian antiques and also performs restoration on some of the furniture pieces that come to him «less than desirable.» A lot of the store is furniture antiques — tables, desk, chairs, display cases, etc. — but settled amongst these are smaller objects. Koa boxes, small ceramic figurines, koa bowls, dishes, etc.
Prices will range depending on what you’re looking for — furniture started in the high hundreds on up. Keep in mind, that this isn’t the Sally Store (Salvation Army store) or Goodwill and you’re paying for items that rare/can’t be found a whole anymore. Thus, each piece is priced accordingly.
If you’re interested in antique furniture, koa items, or local vintage Hawaiiana, I’d definitely recommend this place. There’s free parking right in front of the store.
