Everything was excellent from the décor… to the service… to the great meal. While it is a «steakhouse» it is not a Flemings, Ruth Chris, or Sullivan’s kind of place. I go there when I want STEAK. We went to Beelow’s because I wanted some better seafood on Father’s Day… had scallops, and loved them. My wife had a filet, and she said that it was good… but if she wants steak she will go to Sullivan’s. But we will definitely be back to Beelow’s, because if you want a great meal and service it is where to go.

Went back to Beelow’s this past weekend to take advantage of the outdoor patio and beautiful weather and was disappointed by the food. The food, this time, was very different from the first wonderful experience we had. Both steaks were overcooked, with medium rares coming out medium well. The warm, yeasty bread we had the first time was cold and dry, bordering on stale. The kids mac n cheese, which was rich, complex and cheesy on our first visit, was bland. Service was good, but wish the food were more consistent.

My wife and I have been to the Beelow’s in Lake Zurich many times and always enjoyed it. So we thought lets try the newer location that is even closer to our home. The food did not disappoint. Started with the grilled calamari and it was excellent. Followed by two entrée’s, one of the extra thick 24 ounce prime rib and one of the scallop special topped with crab meat, asparagus and hollandaise sauce. Prime rib was tasty, cooked perfectly at medium and plentiful. The scallops were thoroughly enjoyed by my wife. Sever was very attentive and no complaints there. I would have certainly given them a 5 star rating EXCEPT I just had the MOSTEXPENSIVE Tito’s Vodka on the rocks EVER. With no warning it shows up on my bill as $ 20.00. Now maybe they put 2 ounces in the glass but it wasn’t full and was a regular rocks glass like all the other restaurants serve drinks in. I have NEVER been to a restaurant and paid $ 20.00 for any regular or call brand vodka on the rocks. Not even downtown Chicago. Thank goodness I did not order a second or even a third as I sometimes do. I guess one should ask how much a cocktail is prior to requesting it.

Local steakhouse. It’s nice in the inside and quite fancy. If you aren’t wearing dressy clothes the bar area is more casual. I think this is a nice addition to highland park. There are not loads of places with a good happy hour and I was impressed with this one. I came here for a steak and it was expensive. I’m not a big gourmet steak person so it’s not my favorite, but nothing to do with the restaurant. I’m glad this place moved into the area. I hope it makes it!

It does not happen often that I radically changed my mind about restaurants. Beelow’s managed to go from zero to sixty for me in a matter of only 2 visits. Our first visit was disappointing(mostly due to our unconcerned waiter) and we avoided the place for several months — until now. I have heard good things from several people so, to be fair, I decided to give it one more try. As we already ate, the goal was to have drinks, dessert, and check out the atmosphere once more. Greeting: We were greeted by the host right away. We sat in the bar and a very friendly waiter showed up almost immediately. So far, very promising. Drinks: The drinks menu offers many choices of cocktails and wine by the glass. I went for the barrel aged white whisky Manhattan. It was well worth the premium price. Naturally, you will not find this gem on the daily happy hour. Dessert menu: Even if you are not planning for dessert, I urge you to ask to see the dessert menu. Seriously, do it. What they will bring you is not a printed or handwritten, no, they will bring you a tray with the desserts. And they look amazing. You just may change your mind and order one. Or two. We did the cheesecake. It was heaven. Did I mention that all their desserts are made in the house? Yup. Overall: I really enjoyed the drinks and the dessert. The atmosphere in the bar was great. As much as I liked the steak on my last visit, the overall menu and the dining room seem old fashioned to me. This could be that the clientele is older with traditional taste pallet. I’d say, if you are under 40, keep to the bar area. And why not see a movie next door afterwards?

My wife and I had a very nice dinner and enjoyed the experience. We both had grass-fed steak which was cooked perfectly. I ordered a blue cheese, stuffed olive, martini and my wife had a Malbec by the glass. Both were winners. Our waiter was personable and professional. Honesty, we were very pleasantly impressed.

We went here for Valentine’s Day dinner and were seated immediately, even though we were early for our reservations. We were given menus right away, but we’re not rushed. I was amazed to see that Bourbon County was available. I had that, water for the wife. We ordered pan fried cheese, and ate way too much complimentary bread! I had the 12 oz. Filet, she had the 4 oz. and crab legs. We both had the lobster bisque and garlic mashed potatoes. Everything was amazing, but we couldn’t even come close to eating it all there, so we didn’t have room for dessert either. Excellent food, excellent service, and the price was lower than I imagined as well! Thank you Beelow’s!

Ordered scallops, were not cooked right. Returned 3 times, still not cooked right. steak special just ok and not worth the price. Crème Brulee was a vanilla pudding, tasted OK for what it was but it was not good Crème Brulee. They have no French or Italian Reds. Incredible. Despite objections the waiter handled our service problem poorly. We will not return.

We have been here more than once. The location is great, the ambiance is nice, in general, the service has been satisfactory. Our last experience was less than great service-wise. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived, but was by the time we left. The food that we had was delicious across the board. Service needs to be better coordinated, however. Tonight the restaurant was busy, but for whatever reason, our table was somewhat ignored. We had to ask for water. We were pro-active and asked for coffee, which came. We were interested in dessert, were never asked, and watched as a tray of sample desserts went from one table to the next. We had difficulty getting anyone’s attention but finally did. We inquired whether they might be short handed and they said no. It was very strange. We will go back again, the restaurant is relatively new in this spot, and we figure that they will get their act together.

Beelow had me at Heelow. This review is for their take away. The beef sandwich was juicy and fresh and cooked exactly how I Iike it –Medium Rare. The giardinaria was hot and crispy fresh and that plus the meat weren’t too salty. The crusty roll really soaked up the aus jus. Price was ok and staff very affable. I would def dine in for future the space looks nice and menu intriguing.

Lot’s on the menu which doesn’t appeal to my tastes, and steak was still quite pink, when was ordered well. Service was slow, and though restaurant was sparse on customers, finding a service person was far too much work. Please…lose the commercial with the chicken?

Visited Beelow’s with a group of friends and our collective review was — eh. There are a lot of steakhouse competitors and I think that in the area, there are better choices. The restaurant has a comfortable layout and the noise level was tolerable. That said, for a Saturday night at 7pm, the restaurant didn’t stay crowded for long. We tried the fried cheese and the spinach dip appetizers. Both were a bit odd and not worth the calories. The bread basket selection with mini-corn muffins was nice. We weren’t overly impressed by the wine list and the Manhattan cocktail made with white whiskey was far too harsh — not a mixology joint. The main courses of ribeye, strip and two burgers were all okay but certainly not over-the-top. I certainly would not recommend the«brown grain rice» side which tasted like out of the rice-r-roni box — truly. My wife and I both looked at each other and said«microwave rice?» The fried onion rings served with the steak were tasty, but not hot nor crisp. We liked the side of sauteed spinach although the portion size compared to peer restaurants seemed small. Desserts were standard steakhouse fare. We tried the key lime pie(crust was a bit soggy) and the banana chocolate cake wasn’t to my liking but our dinner partners enjoyed it. Friendly server, but slow service.

I didn’t particularly love the place. To be fair they have a lot of great options I don’t appreciate. They have like 32 beers on tap and all kinds of new things in regards to wine and beer fusions.

Went to Beelow’s tonight for dinner. Had the oysters Rockefeller as an starter. They are absolutely the best on the North Shore. We continue don with the Salmon, NY strip(45day dry aged), and a small plate of shrimp scampi. My wife loved the salmon, and I must agree after tasting some you will defiantly not be disappointed. Now for the NY Strip bring your appetite it is delicious, tender, and more than I could finish. As we were leaving my wife was texting friends to set up a return trip with the group.

First time I went, steak was over cooked and could not find waiter to tell him my Med rare was well. This second time, great waiter. The cook got the steak perfect. Very good value Only negative, when you serve prime rib, Don’t slice the piece then grill on a flat top to heat it up. Never saw it done that way anywhere. Must be s reason for that. Worth the trip

We’ve been to Beelows about 6 times already. It’s a great space, better use of the space than the 3 restaurants before it. The ambiance is spectacular. The staff is friendly, with the bus staff actually better than the wait staff. The minor issue: the food. It’s not bad. It’s just not great. I’ve tried just about everything, and there is nothing that stands out. The best and tastiest item on the menu is the basic cheeseburger. It really is great, served on a nice roll. Appetizers are typical. The only one I recommend is the calamari. The melted fried cheese bowl that others have Unilocaled about is actually a very odd app. The pork chop is ABSOLUTELY huge and very lean, but it is unappealing with the homemade BBQ sauce, that is a orange/tan color. Not the color or flavor most are expecting. The chop is OK, but the smaller sized portion at Carsons is rated a 10, and is delicious, and this one is not. The skirt steak portion is tiny compared to Wildfire, and the price is the same. And the flavor is just not up to par. Switch your fries over to matchstick fries, the thicker ones you serve aren’t crispy. Instead of putting bread out on the table, a lady walks around with a basket and hands out delicious bread rolls and butter. This might be a money saving technique, but I want a basket on my table. It has a great bar. If you like a unique beer, they have it. If you like a nice glass of wine or a cocktail, this is a wonderful bar. TV’s for sporting events. Here is what this restaurant needs to know about HP. We judge everything. Mr Beelow, go have a dinner at Wildfire, then, the next night go to Carsons(get the Mediterranean Charcrusted Pork Chop) and take some notes. It will improve your beautiful restaurant. Customers who haven’t been here yet, give it a try for yourself. It’s not bad by any means, it just needs some adjustments. Make a reservation and support your local business.

Our dining experience was ok. For the price, I had higher expectations. We started with the cheese appetizer which was good but they were a bit chintzy on the amount of cheese. My husband had the filet which looked huge and more than 8 ounces but it was very fatty. I opted for the steak and blue salad. Rather then slices of filet as described, it had a few fatty chunks. I recently ordered the same dish at Francesca’s North and it was out of this world so I was picturing something different. The good news is that my two dogs were happy because I brought the meat home for them. The waiter went through the motions but he wasn’t very friendly and I don’t think he smiled once. When all was said and done, we spent about $ 150 and I was not satisfied. We won’t be back.

Should have named this place Be Slows. Food was fine, server not so much, snarky, aloof and sloooow, we watched an entire basketball game waiting and waiting for service. 30 beers? I think it’s for show because it was like pulling teeth to get one! Not returning, too many other quality choices in town.

We decided to try Beelow’s for my birthday celebration. The fact that we would go to a new place for a celebration was a rockstar move on our part but we were not disappointed! I realize that even the North Shore has quite a few steakhouse powerhouses already but there was something about Beelow’s that makes it classy enough for a special occasion yet also cozy enough for just a regular night out with the family. The craft beer selection was impressive though it was my birthday so I decided to go all out and order an Old Fashioned. That the drink was made with Woodford Reserve(my fave!) was a sign from above that it was the right choice for my first drink. We ordered a spicy shrimp as our app and my only regret was wishing there were more than just the 5 pieces. Our entrée lineup included the salmon with dill sauce(delish), rib eye, pork chop(phenomenal with the glaze it came with), prime rib for my daughter(it was big enough for a grown man!), creamed spinach(loved that it wasn’t drowning in cream), and truffle fries. They were nice enough to give me a brownie sundae with a candle on it but what I devoured was the coconut cream pie! Great addition to the ‘shore and can’t wait to return!

We are SO-OOO going back here a lot! I can’t wait for their patio furniture to come out. So let me back up… Hubby and I were BIGTIME Rosebud fans for many years while it was in this location. It was as much for the location as it was for the food and the service. So when this location went through a few mediocre restaurants, I had my hopes up for Beelow’s. It did not disappoint! We came in after a movie next door and sat at the bar for dinner. The bartender was very knowledgeable and explained a bit about the restaurant. She was attentive as well and made a good cocktail. I got the salmon for my meal. You can see from the picture it had a dill sauce and some excess butter. Some people don’t like the extra grease/fat, but I do. Just be sure to ask for less butter if it bothers you. The fish was moist and cooked just right. I added a side of creamed spinach. Very good! When we were deciding where to go tonight(a few weeks after our last visit), Hubby said how about Beelow’s. That means Hubby would give it 4 or 5 stars too!
