I love Indian food and I came for dinner here with a friend. We ordered some traditional food like tandoori chicken, roti’s and meat with rice. The food that they served was beyond disgusting. This is not a traditional Indian restaurant at all. I do not know what to call such cuisine? New Indian-American cuisine? The food does not taste Indian at all. I think they have modified the food to appeal to American diners. I mentioned this to a Indian friend of mine and he said Sakoon does not serve Indian food and I got yelled by him because I came here.

Terrible Indian restaurant. We ordered chicken biryani and tandoori chicken. The biryani was not biryani at all. It was a mix of chicken curry and rice. We complained to them and they told they never cook authentic Indian food as it takes too much time to prepare. We told them they should not advertise Indian Biryani as it does not taste like one and that’s not how it is prepared. No wonder you will not find any Indians dining there. It’s sad to see that they sell Indian food by lies and deceit.

Amazing lunch buffet for $ 8.95!!! Sag paneer or palak paneer or something with that amazing fried cheese every single time, and chicken marsala or chicken Makhani too. And like 20 other delicacies!!! And, the most important part for non-Indians, THEFOODISNOTSPICY!

Consistent Excellence! Very creative Chef putting out great, healthy additions like the Yucca; the fish cutlets made from tuna made for a delicious appetizer. Fish Curry still reigning as best on the Island! Service is top notch and on the ball. Wait staff Shravani and Joy are amazing and just love that they check with you when you would like your hot bread basket brought to you, allowing for thorough enjoyment of the apéritif! Solid Restaurant, Delicious Fare and Excellent Service!

Ordered takeout here from seamless, was pleasantly surprised at the portion sizes. Solid Indian food in Hicksville, amongst all the other Indian restaurants out there. Mango lassi was perfect sweetness, garlic naan was thin and not too doughy. Will be ordering from here again!

Best Indian food on Long Island. I have gone so often with my family and we keep coming back. Achari chicken and rasmalai are the best.

This is the best Indian restaurant in Hicksville, New York. For an appetizer, we ordered the Chicken Pakora. When the dish came out we were pleased with the portion size. We also liked the crunchy chickpea batter that coated large chunks of tender white meat. We have eaten here many times and typically order Chicken Tikka Masala«Medium Spicy» however this time we ordered«Indian Spicy». The dish was seasoned in a creamy combination of deliciously spicy ginger, turmeric, coriander and cumin along with chunks of white succulent chicken. «Indian Spicy» might be unbearably hot for those who do not typically like hot spicy foods. «American Spicy» might be the better choice for those who prefer milder dishes. Overall our experience here has been excellent every time we have dined at Sakoon.

This place is still serving up dishes better than the competition. My family and I, used to drive out to santoor and woodlands for more authentic indian food. We now just go here as the food is actually better than their other location. The lunch buffet service has been hit or miss lately. I remember being here twice where the waiter and manager asked me if I would like more bread, which would come after, I’ve completed my meal and am desperately trying to get the check for over 5 min(on a slow weekday). Service was much better at santoor, and the original staff when this place opened was incredible. I suggest you ask them for two servings of bread, one after another when in a group, during the lunch buffet. The deserts are also great here.

One word… GO! We stumbled onto Sakoon through Unilocal.Boy, were we happy! When we walked in the place was completely empty except for a large private party, so we were a little wary. Glad we stayed. Lots of families started to file in about a half-hour we arrived. Everything was fantastic… the waitstaff was attentive and so pleasant, making sure we were satisfied every step of the way. The food was EXCELLENT and the cost was soooooo reasonable. The only problem was that we ordered too much food. We live two hours away, but will absolutely visit again when in the area.

Came to this one in many Hicksville Indian for their lunch buffet. They have a wide variety of different dishes to sample. Standouts include the aloo chat, aloo gobi, daal makhni, goat curry and the tandoori kebobs. Full of flavor and just the right amount of spice. Chicken tikka masala and vegetables biryani were meh. Service is not so attentive but prices are very reasonable making this one of the better Indian spots in the area.

I stopped in for their lunch buffet @ 8.95 per person. I was lucky to get in early and everything was still fresh. I hate it when the food sits on the warmer for too long. They have the typical Indian buffet dishes and very well prepared. It is definitely worth the money. The garlic naan was a treat.

I ordered take-out from this restaurant after reading all the positive Unilocal reviews. But unfortunately, this was one of those rare cases where Unilocal was wrong. I ordered the Chicken Makhani. It was more light pinkish then it’s supposed to be. They overloaded on yogurt and it had a very bland taste.

Nice room, nice people, nice portions. So why only 3 stars? It was because of the chicken. Chicken soup was great chicken in the Tikka Masala was awful — borderline inedible. Naan was also substandard. This is Hicksville — aka little India. I fear that if Sakoon doesn’t up its’ game it will soon be just a memory.

The lunch buffet was great, awesome spread of food from salad to appetizer, mains, and dessert. Bonus: FRESHNAAN! Nice friendly service and quite attentive w/water, changing plates, and asking if we needed more. The food wasn’t ‘watered down’, the sauces were rich and so were the chutneys. As far as the pakoras, they were a let down… it wasn’t hot or crispy. The poori, samosas and pakoras should be made to order in my honest opinion. Also, it would be great if the dishes were stirred occasionally, to keep them evenly heated. Side note: The bathroom was cute & super clean!

Excellent addition to Little India aka Hicksville. Sakoon is only about 3 months old, having taken over another restaurant that resided here. The buffet is reasonably priced, the staff were extremely warm and welcoming, offering us garlic naan and another quick fry bread with the buffet. The food itself is somewhat spicier than some of the other buffets and they had some extremely hot South Indian fish curry for example. They did offer some other items that the other buffets don’t such as delicious samosas and biryani rice. The fried chicken wings were silly, they should stick to the Indian delicacies. I think they are off to a good start and only really dropped a star because of the truly«authentic» spice level which could detract some potential customers. However, if you like spicy this buffet is a 5 star choice.

Went for their buffet lunch on Friday to see how it compares with the many other Indian buffets in Hicksville. Located next to a strip mall on Old Country road, it used to house a Peruvian place that flopped. Sakoon was clean and had nice staff on top of things and refilling the food as needed… important! Food was hot, tasty and seemed well prepared. Really like the Goat Curry, spinach and the other sides. Tomato soup was tasty and not a usual choice at an Indian restaurant. Garlic Naan was tasty and for dessert they were nice enough to give us a great Rice Pudding which was not out for the buffet. Will def return.
