Taste — ok(not great, below par than most Thai restaurants); portions — small; Interior — good. Will try other Thai restaurants around, not this one anymore!

More of a 3.5. We order delivery from here often when he have a Thai craving at work and it’s fast and easy. As far as the food, I’ve had a lot better but it’s decent. They have good lunch specials around 10 bucks that come with soup and spring rolls. The spring rolls are really good. The soup. Not a fan. Very bitter and smells odd. I had the red chicken curry and it was pretty good. The pad see ew wasn’t bad either and I do reccomend it overall but it’s good not great

Bottom Line: Good food, convenient, won’t break the bank. TASTYFOOD My favorite dish is the Pad See Ew. The add just enough flair to make it unique, but not so much to make it different from other places. CONVENIENT I often order to go, and it is always ready in under 20 minutes.

It was Christmas Day and my husband and I were seeking a bite to eat for dinner before heading back home. We found that Tara Thai was open and decided to give them a shot. It wasn’t that busy when we entered around 5:30 but after we left it was getting that way. We started off with two drinks and each a cold glass of water. My husband ordered the Bangkok Sunset which was more of a Christmas drink. There was whip cream around the rim and little christmas sprinkles on top of the drink. I ordered a zombie and it was way too sweet for my liking. We ordered the fried calamari as a starter that came with sweet and spicy sauce. The batter was crispy but it wasn’t tasty. The sweet and spicy sauce helped a little bit because it added some flavor. My husband ordered the honey roasted duck with crispy noodles. The platter was gentle and enticing to the eye when it came out. I tried a piece of the duck and my taste buds were not impressed. The duck was was tough and lacked that delicious succulent flavor. My husband said the rest of the duck was tender but he had better duck before. I had ordered the pad pik pow which is rated with 3 chili peppers for spiciness. No spiciness to this entrée at all. It tasted more garlic which is more like their kapow meal. Sad panda :( I am picky on my thai food because of my travels to Thailand. Overall this food was just meh and I have had better Americanized Thai food in this area. I would suggest to skip this place.

Best Thai food in Herndon. Been ordering carry out now for a couple of years and well just out of this world! My favorite dishes: basil duck and their green curry with tofu and/or shrimp!

I’ve been to this Tara Thai a couple of times and enjoyed it very much both times. Very fast and attentive service as well.

Rude services. I politely asked for a simple question but they just wanted to get the order fast and didnt even care about the customer‘s request. They used to be smile to their customer and had great food. Not anymore. Food was awful and the portion they gave me was like a kid‘s meal.

These guys are going downhill fast, it used to be decent but not great, but lately it’s gotten much worse and even the portions are shrinking. Definitely better Thai places in the area, avoid this one.

Food is good and consistent. But, the service is pathetic. The staff are rude and I always feel like we are being snubbed because of the race factor. They send many coupons to us in mail, but NEVER accept those.

The food was barely doable. Granted, I’m from Seattle and we have excellent Thai food so I’m spoiled, but I was definitely disappointed. The Pad Thai was bland with too much fish sauce. The spring rolls were okay, but blah. The interior is fine and staff decent if not a bit slow with service.

Went for lunch; Tom yum soup was with a twist: cabbage; was nice! I had cashew chicken which was made really well. The panang curry also looked nice.

The food is good. But avoid the online ordering. I placed an order thru their website(which directs to a third party food ordering service), which did me no good at all. When I showed up some 15 minutes after ordering(when it said it would be ready in 10 – 20 minutes), they didn’t have the order. They had to go online, pull the order up, print it on a sheet of paper, then enter it into their computer so the kitchen would start prepping the order. I would have been better off either ordering over the phone or driving in & ordering in-person. Online saved me no time. Luckily I wasn’t trying to do this over a limited time frame lunch hour.

I like Thai foods, I ordered Panag curry and Green Curry, it was OK. I asked for water and waiter brought me a glass of water which had a dead bug in it. I asked to change it with bottled water; the waiter was rude. Overall, the service was really poor.

The worst Thai food I’ve tasted. Actually the worst Asian food I’ve tasted at all. I ordered the most basic plate for any Thai place, the Chicken Pad Thai because I figured they can’t go wrong with this one. Well I got a plate of food that smelled like it had been recooked in old oil and the chicken frozen cooked and recooked. Never will go there again. When I spoke to the manager she tried to argue with me that she cooks everything fresh when it was obvious that the chicken had been cooked at least a few times before. The service was nonexistent I was there by myself and it seemed that they were busy serving other tables with more people. Probably hoping for bigger tips. What a turn off.

LOVE: their delivery, online menu, going to the restaurant, desserts, drinks LIKE: their food, environment, music, MANY menu option DisLIKE: 1. staff don’t understand what I’m saying and I don’t understand what they’re saying most of the time-not in a accent way but in a not know English way. Although I appreciate that they’re Thai and not random. 2. The big TV.

I have mixed feelings about this place. The service was very absent and unattentive. Some of the food was good and others weren’t so good. The good=thai iced tea and kapow chicken; the ok=spring rolls, the not bad but not so great=pad see ew beef. I might try it again one day because the flavor of kapow chicken was good but I’ll try all the other thai restaurants in the area first.

My husband’s co-worker said Tara Thai had the best Thai food, so we finally figured it must be tried. We ordered a Thai iced tea(somewhat watered down), fish cakes, vegetarian fried rice, curry chicken, and the pad ped(duck). I thought the food was pretty good, not the best, but good enough to feed the internal Thai beast. The fish cakes were a little chewy, but they came piping hot and the dipping sauce was good with cucumbers, jalapenos, red onion, and peanuts. They weren’t too gingery(thank God) and were tasty. The fried rice came with fresh veggies, but it was completely bland. Only the oils from the vegetables themselves flavored the rice. The curry chicken was light with a thin sauce. The duck was flavorful and mixed well with the fried rice and curry sauce. My husband wasn’t as happy as his favorite was Sakul Thai in Alexandria, which is now closed. Service was ok — there were some lulls here and there, but nothing aggravating. The weather was nice so we opted to sit outside. I believe we were the only ones dining at that specific time, so there weren’t any issues. The food is decent and if we want to grab some quick Thai food, we’d be willing to eat here again.

Sorry Tara, I wanted to love you but I can’t. Cute place but I didn’t like that the floor was sticky, the rice cooker I saw on the floor, and the food was meh. I ordered the calamarie, too chunky and too battered; the sauce too sweet! The fish dish I had was not terrific and I had to send it back to get it warmed up, the mussels were cold! Service was decent enough but not enough to make the food worthy of a return visit!

I love Thai food. I make it a goal to visit new restaurants and hole in the wall locations as much as possible so I was excited to meet my friend here for lunch having never been. The restaurant is busy and noisy at lunch which can be expected but the awkward booths and close seating make it impossible to hear anyone across the table. My waitress though not out right rude was very quick, to the point and rarely seen. Now the food… :( Worst Thai food I’ve ever eaten. That says allot considering I eat it often. The soup was full of huge cheap vegetables like cauliflower? I was then served cold panfried noodles with no seasoning with cold uncooked and not all the way thawed seafood. This is a hot dish mind you… I ate the watercress under the noodles and that was it after gagging on the rest. If my friend had not gotten a deal on some website for this lunch I’d have demanded my money back. I will not be attending again or recommending this to anyone.
