I was very disappointed by Scotty’s. I went there for the first time on Sunday morning. I was seated pretty quickly and then a waitress never came by the table. All other tables seated after us had someone come and take their orders except for ours. Unfortunately, after 9 minutes of sitting there, I decided I would leave. I have never done that before but I thought that was completely unacceptable. Moreover, the waitress who attended to the table behind us must have known the party and stayed to talk them for a long time. It was very disappointing.

One of our favorite Sunday spots since the 80’s… But. the hostess was a total sour puss. She didn’t speak a word… even when my pregnant daughter couldn’t fit in one of the booth tables… I was disappointed by her attitude. She sat us and walked away. We got up and went to ask for another table. She was emotionless and rolled her eyes. I saw a clear table and asked for it. She acted like a bitch. Sorry… I have never seen such attitude. The food was delicious as usual but there was definitely a weird vibe today between staff and management. If this place was not such a family tradition I am not sure I would return.

As soon as we walked in the restaurant a few servers just walked around us without even a simple hello. after waiting a few more minutes we finally got greeted and were taken to sit down… then it gets worse… we waited almost 7 minutes before we got service from any waitress as plenty of waitresses walked us by without letting us know we would be served soon & we quickly placed our orders so that we wouldn’t have to wait longer. We placed our orders… very simple orders. pancakes, eggs, bacon & sausage. we got our food delivered cold 17 minutes later & the sausage was forgotten about. I ordered blueberry pancakes & they had no hint of blueberry… they were just blue in color & had blueberries but didn’t taste like blueberry. The server attempted to take my plate away before I was even done eating. I also noticed we were not the only table going through this. across from us was a family of 6 that also waited just as long as we did for service & for the food to arrive. I must add that they were getting served by a different waitress. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE customer service. I will never be back… the server was slow to serve but VERY quick to bring the check & get paid.

Small town diner with very good food at a fair price. Located on the sidewalk adjacent to the sand. Great view of the pier and Palos Verdes. Roller skaters and volley ball courts. True California.

It’s an above average diner with a small town feel — now add the beach, breeze, people watching, and some food and you’re in for a vacation. The pastas are a delight. The staff is very friendly and the cooks are the usual hard working Mexicans with genuine smiles and natural welcoming gestures.

Mushroom Burger from Scotty’s on the Strand. This place is a dive dinner spot with an awesome location on the beach. The food is average. But once in awhile you find a gem. The Mushroom Burger was that. Great savory, gooey, cheesy, earthy flavor. I do love a great mushroom dish. The combo of swiss, mushrooms and mayo set the flavor table. Then complimented with crisp lettuce, fresh raw red onions, decent beef, good portion and a soft Burger bun. This was a quality burger. I can’t imagine this place not getting bought out soon but I’ll support local over big business most of the time.

Been coming to Scotty’s since the 80’s. The quality, portions and service has diminished every year. It used to be a 4 star joint. Now the 11.50HPD(Sandwich with sliced ham and turkey with cheese on sourdough) is the size of a muffin with very little meat. A bottle of miller lite will cost you 6 bucks. 6 bucks. My cousin recently came in from out of town so took her here hoping for the best. The corned beef n hash with eggs special, for 9 bucks, arrived at the table looking like regurgitated food. Not exagerating. The scrambled eggs looked fake, rubbery. The hash looked stepped on and burnt. For 4 beers, Pancake n eggs, 1 oatmeal, 2HPD Sandwiches, Corned Beef Hash n Eggs and a kids chicken fingers? 104.86. C’mon. Save yourself the crappy expensive breakfast and go to Brothers Burritos across the street or Hennesy’s on the boardwalk. Hate saying it but Scotty’s is no longer the go to and it was for our family for 30+ years.

This place is gross, dirty, and the food is disgusting. First water glass had scmeg on it. Wine glass was filthy. Wine was so skunked I smelled it when the very lovely and professional server(who would make SOMUCH more money anywhere but here) brought it to our table. After an appetizer that we each had one bite of, because it was so heavily breaded AND swimming in lemon butter sauce that was literally coagulating before our very eyes. We just had to go. I recommend nothing, except someone going in and sharking that girl right outta there.

My entire family has been going to Scotty’s for breakfast as far back as my memory goes, my entire life, 27 years. The service is ALWAYS friendly, fast, and attentive. The two egg breakfast with their home fries and fresh muffins is my go-to. With the great view of the strand, the huge windows, and consistently perfect breakfast, I will always love this place. It really has a special place in my heart.

I like it but windy and less comfortable ice tea is good. All I can say great view. Good their in progress to get closed for the hotels. But their food alright.

Typical American diner food on The Strand. You have your choice of burgers, pasta, appetizers, etc. The beer and wine selection is not super fancy but it will do the job. My Dad and I used to order pizza and a pitcher of beer. The combo is a decent price and my Dad is a fan of the pizza. Unfortunately, because of my newfound lactose intolerance, I don’t order it anymore. Course I will still drink the beer! The atmosphere is casual but fun since it is right on the Strand. You can see the ocean from pretty much anywhere in the restaurant. I have been coming here since I was very young with my parents and it hasn’t changed much. The only reason I don’t rate this place 5 stars is because of the service. I think it could be bumped up a notch. In my opinion; it is a bit slow.

This manager has the parking enforcement on a speed dial, if you don’t eat at this place you can’t even wait in your car next this place cuz he has to call the parking. PLUSTHEFOODISRIDICULOUSBAD, my friends eat there today and it bad.

Sadly, we have just eliminated this place from our favorite places to eat. We have been eating here for years, but the owner is not ADA friendly. We’ve brought my daughter’s small well-trained service dogs in with us for years, however, the past two times the owner has tried to make her set them on the ground. They are trained to sit on her lap or next to her legs. She explained it last time and he grudgingly gave in. This time he started to insist on her removing them once from the vinyl seats(for fear of grumpy customers). She started to re-explain her issue again. I stopped her and chose to find a friendlier place to dine. Fortunately, there are many establishments that aware and accepting of the disabilities act and treat her with more respect. I will say that the servers there were very kind and embarrassed. We had a lovely, welcoming lunch elsewhere.

This place was alright. My mom and I had just gotten to LA and wanted a solid brunch near the water. This place definitely had the view and a good family friendly diner vibe but the food and drinks were just so-so. I thought the service was actually wonderful, I wish I remembered our server’s name because she was delightful and made our experience much better. Anyways, I ordered a mimosa and my mom ordered a bloody mary. Neither of these drinks was anything special. A mimosa can’t really be bad… but it wasn’t great. The bloody mary was the spiciest one we’ve ever had and not the best flavor. We then ordered the Crunch French Toast and the Buenos Dias Quesadilla. I thought the french toast was alright but i did really enjoy the quesadilla. it was a bit more like an omelet but was very tasty and I would definitely recommend that to people getting breakfast here. Giving this place 3 stars for the service, amazing view of the beach/water(it’s literally 5 steps from the sand) and the Buenos Dias Quesadilla.

Scotty’s is my favorite lunch spot in Hermosa Beach. I’ve been there countless times and I’ve always had great food and terrific service here. You can park you bike right outside and enjoy a meal with some beers while you people watch right through their giant windows looking out to the water. This place is a little gem where there’s no attitude and just solid food and service.

Both food and service was lacking. I was pretty disappointed dining here during late breakfast, early lunch time with a group of friends. We decided to come here based on pure convenience because of their free back parking lot for customers. We all had a few beers on tap to help wash away the food down our mouth but I ordered their breakfast menu — scrambled eggs with two sausages and wheat toast. Pretty simple menu but it was lukewarm and if it wasn’t for the company that I was with, I would have rated this place even lower. The wait staff was nice but she kept forgetting simple things like getting us our glasses of water, small condiments as requested several times and their bar is basic. They only serve select beers, mimosas and bloody Mary’s. When we requested to see if they can make a concoction, they were pretty limited with what they can offer since they didn’t have a full bar. I won’t be back that’s for sure. There’s plenty of eateries down Hermosa beach by the pier so pick elsewhere. This place was absolutely mediocre.

I came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Surprisingly there was no wait and a few parking spaces available. Scotty’s has it’s own small parking lot so you don’t have to pay for the metered spaces. I got the Acapulco omelette with homefries. I was thrown off by the name«homefries» thinking they were actual fries, but they’re not. They’re delicious breakfast potatoes. My omelette was really good. I added cholula for some spice. Service was attentive so I never went without coffee. I love that Scotty’s has the ambience of a real breakfast spot. Nothing fancy, just great food with a nice view.

The food and the ambiance is mediocre. Hence, the two stars. The staff, the view of the water, and the fact that they have parking is fantastic.

I’ve come here at least 20x with my family throughout the years. My mom always gets the sandwiches which are great! But, the best thing here is the spaghetti. Any time my family comes to Scotty’s it’s always going to be on a Monday. 7.95FORALLYOUCANEATSPAGHETTI. ANDIT’S. SO. GOOD. Try it, you won’t regret it. The view is beautiful especially when you grab a window seat and come around sunset time, it’s literally 5 steps from the sand.

For lunch, we decided to come here and check out their food since we were going to hang out at Hermosa Beach. First off, let me just say that parking can be a bit tricky. There’s only a limited number of parking spaces; there are a couple of 1 hour parking spaces for Scotty’s customers. We ordered the French dip, which had roast beef and au jus sauce. The bread was okay; I didn’t really like the taste or texture of it. I have tasted better bread. The roast beef was good, however the au jus sauce was a bit too salty for me. Overall, prices are somewhat reasonable. Service is a bit of a hit and miss. Luckily, we had a friendly server, but we noticed that other servers weren’t that nice to their customers. Overall, the quality of the food was just only okay and mediocre. Nothing really stood out or surprised me.
