Under new ownership now. Management wasn’t the friendliest before but even worse now. It is ok to crack a smile, say good morning and be friendly to your customers so they want to come back. Establishing a customer owner bond and relationship is one of the best ways to see your business grow! Coffee is terrific, strong but perfect foam. Bagels should come toasted versus cold. Suggest covering food vs letting it stay open on counter.

This WAS a good spot for studying, great coffee, friendly atmosphere, clean. Too bad that it is closed now and there are signs showing there will be a new café here. I’m not sure if is the same ownership but it is a different name, it isn’t going to be Planet Earth Eco Café anymore… RIP Auf.

I was in town visiting a friend and I needed to get some work done, so I came down to this little coffee shop to get some internet. I got an iced coffee, which the barista informed me was«very strong» flavor-wise, «like a fine whiskey». I thought that was odd, but I like strong coffee(and whiskey as well) so I gave it a shot. It didn’t taste any stronger than the coffee that I cold brew at home, but it was good. I’d definitely come back if I was looking for a place to grab some coffee and get some work done.

Was excited about this place considering that vegetarians dont have a lot of places dedicated to them. Came to Planet Earth Eco Café about 6 times until the last time when my credit card receipt’s tip section was tampered with. I notified the owner and she was nice about it and apologized, however, this experience made me weary to go back. Always check your receipts with your statement people.

I go to Planet Earth about 1 – 2 times a week. The baristas are so nice, and they know the names of all of the regular customers. I don’t think I’m a regular, but they even know my name. I always order a Cappuccino with Almond Milk and it’s perfect. I’ve tried the iced latte with Almond milk also. The Veggie wrap is good, and they have vegan bakery items. Good for a light lunch. Closes pretty early, so it’s not a late night study place. Bright and cheery with Free wi-fi and nice outdoor seating area. Street parking is free before 10am, but I always walk there. So glad I live so close to such a great place!

When i am in town, i take long runs along beach, this place is great to say the least. Its a great place to relax, and enjoy a great cup of coffee with a vegan cookie. Has a little patio if you are lucky enough you might get a seat out-side and enjoy reading the news or a magazine. I always order the caffee latter and its always good!!! service is great as well.

If you’re looking to healthy vegan café’ and a place to relax… this is your destination for a staycation. The menu is small and simple so do not come here if you have large dining expectations. I think this is a perfect place to grab a wrap after a job or Pilates… I ordered the veggie and hummus wrap which came with a cashew and sesame dipping sauce. The veggies were fresh and the dipping cause was amazing. The tortilla was dry but it was sprouted so there’s not much wiggle room and I was okay with that. The filling was hummus, shredded carrots, diced green onions, fresh spinach, tomatoes, zucchini and a tiny bit of fresh cilantro. The employees were very laid back and generous and the décor was zen and peaceful. I loved sitting out on the patio and just relaxing and people watching.

Wow! I was treated to a Chemex –drip brewed coffee, and an acapella Jazz rendition by Julie(one of the workers) original tune. Sublime! I’ll be back for more. Thank you Dave for your kind gift of filters! Kudos and best wishes to all.

The cappuccino I had here was pretty good. I might have been thrown off a bit because I’ve never had organic coffee before, but regardless it’s better to support this place than go to Starbucks or any of the local chains. The atmosphere here is very comfortable, and quite suitable for studying. I definitely plan on returning soon.

This café is adorably cozy. First off, the location is sooo small beach town. It is located just a few blocks off the PCH so it’s really easy to find; however, it is far enough away that traffic is pretty minimal. It certainly doesn’t hurt that all the quaint storefronts are really inviting. The service was great. I’m guessing it was obvious that I hadn’t been here before, so a really nice woman pointed out their menu in addition to the pastry case. They were also great about making change for me to feed the meter out front.(Someone please explain why card reading meters aren’t everywhere yet.) They also noticed when I finished eating my breakfast and downing my latte; they cleared the dishes away with no fuss and a friendly smile. On to the food review. I got a soy vanilla chai latte that was superb. Amazing. Delicious. Dare I even say perfect? It had just the right amount of foam and tasted spot on. I also got a bagel with cream cheese, pesto, tomatoes, and cucumbers. That was pretty darn good as well. If you are keeping track, that means this little spot is batting 4 for 4.(Location, ambiance, friendliness, and deliciousness) My magical 5th star rating is more about perks of going someplace than any set standard. This one earned it because I could have my dog with me on the patio, and they didn’t flip out once they saw him. I have a boxer /pit mix and get a lot of looks from people like they think he is going to eat their first born child. That wasn’t an issue here; he and I were able to linger for almost two hours and just enjoy the morning. There’s even a water bowl out front for your four legged friend.

SUCH a lovely café — worth the 12 mile bike ride from my place for a cup of frothy subtly sweet Matcha green tea. They also have a tasty drip coffee(or so I’m told — my biking partner being the coffee drinker between us). In the food department, they have vegan and vegetarian offerings — from fresh baked goods to sandwiches, soups, and wraps. Since I’m going sugarless at the moment I didn’t get the chance to try anything this time around but have tasted a few of their goodies before, and they’re worth the bit of naughtiness. The café is also filled with local artisan jewelry, crafts, and art — fun to look at — and buy if you’re so inclined. They offer free water and treats for four-legged friends, cozy, indoor/outdoor seating, convenient bike rack parking right in front(and metered car parking) — seriously, why aren’t you there yet? :)

So at first I thought this was one of those frou frou type of places that is desperately trying to be over-über-hippy-tastic. I thought it would be full of snobby rich people who would be willing to pay $ 5 for an ordinary cup of coffee just because it’s packaged nicely. Boy was I wrong! I mean, don’t get me wrong, they package everything VERY nicely, what with the housemade granola being served in a special jar, and their chemex coffee in a nice pitcher… and it IS a little on the pricey side compared to other cafes, what with the $ 7 smoothies n all. BUT… WOW. I don’t say this often because I’m cheap as hell, but I have absolutely zero qualms spending money here! Yes, I even went for the $ 7 smoothie! And it was amazing! Completely wholesome. And yes, the Brazilian Bourbon is as good as they say it is. They even put extra effort in serving their loose leaf teas, because they come with timers so that you’ll know EXACTLY when your tea has brewed to its optimal flavor. I am yet to try the lunch items or baked goods, but the menu seems to get updated daily, depending on what quality ingredients the chef has on hand. The staff is BEYOND sweet as pie. Seriously, people like that exist? All the ingredients, from the coffee to the food to the smoothies, are really top notch. This is a café that really really takes pride in what it has to offer, and you can really feel it. Quality, positivity and health are part of their culture. Okay, now I“m just gushing and it’s getting embarrassing… but falling in love always makes me corny :)

So it’s my 2nd time in here ever. First time was over a month ago. The guy(Zade) looks at me and says, «Dave right? You were in here about a month ago and had the Brazilian Bourbon blend, right?»(It’s not alcoholic, fyi.) On top of that, this place deserves a Will Farrell ‘World’s Greatest Cup of Coffee’ «Good Job! You did it!» cheer. When I banned sugar, carbs, milk, and many other things that make it easy to make food & drink taste great, finding an actual good cup of black coffee was non-existent. Well they have a great cup. It’s fresh ground, organic, and slow dripped by slow pour through a ceramic funnel. Never seen this method before but sign me up. Also great sitting areas, both inside and out and it’s all exposed to southerly sunlight.

I stopped in the other day only to be reminded of what I Love most here as well as to discover some nice new surprises! The super-friendly and sun-shiny owner Christina has changed up the menu and has some exciting new items. The cold beet soup sounds like a treasure~~ isn’t it harder to find homemade soup in the South Bay than it should be? Let alone, fresh & organic~ Thank you, Planet Earth Eco Café! Great place to grab a beverage(huge variety of organic & healthy choices) plus an avocado wrap. Best breakfast or lunch spot in the area. *~ In Utopia, there are Planet Earth Eco Café’s far & wide! ~* Pier Ave is now open, so it’s even easier to get to… now nothing stands in your way!

I ordered the Super Green Shake and it was delicious. The food and drinks I saw also looked pretty delicious. There isn’t an actual menu and they write their items on a chalk board, so be sure to look for that when you walk in. That’s really the reason for my 4-star rating, there was no menu and the items being served today were very few(although looked and smelled very good!). If you don’t mind only a few selections then go for it! The shake is totally worth a drop in.

Oh I am so sad. I love this place for it’s ambience and it’s tree-loving vibes. I often try to «eat healthy» and venture in here to try some new raw item from the menu. The other day I thought I’d get ballsy and try an actual entrée. I got some sort of dish that said«taco» in it., and boy am I sad. As expected, it was pricey $ 14(?) but I was ready to take the hit for an amazing experience. OOOh. No. The salad was GOOD! But the«tacos» were like this grainy weird stuff inside of this rolled out tortilla like thing. I ate about 1.5 of the 3 «tacos» before I just couldn’t take the weird taste and texture. I am not a vegan/veggie/raw connoisseur, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but damn. It was kind of nasty. I swear, I consider myself very open-minded to healthy, vegan, raw foods etc and as much as I wanted to enjoy this entrée, it really was nastastic. I think I will stick to drinks and salads! On a side note though, this woman had two men«dropping in to visit her» while she was doing some work in the coffee shop. It was kind of hilarious because she was raving on and on about how AMAZING, delicious and nutritious all of foodstuffs were and that the men should try them. I was thinking — NOREALMAN is going to like vegan/raw food. Let’s just be real here. So anyway, one of the poor schmucks was conned into getting the same«tacos from hell» dish as me and he had to pretend to like EVERYBITE. I was dying laughing because when she asked, «Isn’t it delicious?!» he truly was at a loss for words. Anyway, still love this place. Staying away from entrees.

Great local coffee place!!! Starbucks doesn’t even compare. Planet Earth Eco Café has great organic coffee, yummy vegan treats, parfaits, and has a super home-y feel. Their coffee tastes really good and definitely not has over-roasted as Starbucks. I also like Coffee Bean down the street, but parking can be annoying and Planet Earth is much more convenient. They also have good«specialty» options like Agave sweetener, really good teas, soymillk, almond milk, and really good healthy shakes. Give it a try, you’ll totally switch ur «coffee place» after this if you live in the area :) Price example: Medium Agave Soy Latte was $ 4.45

I’m so happy that a place like Planet Earth ecoCafe exists in Hermosa Beach. On the heels of the Grand Re-Opening on Saturday, October 17th, 2009, the owners have expanded the menu and created a new and exciting Vegan Raw Food café for our area. Always famous for the delicious fair-trade, express filtered water coffee and organic teas, PE continues to have a full selection of Organic, Vegetarian and some Vegan and now Raw desserts. A compliment to an already existing format, Chef Lawrence of Planet Earthsong has created a dynamic and exciting raw food menu that will delight and inspire those in the raw food movement, and those who want to try something new. During the 8 week reconstruction, the owners and landlord worked diligently to upgrade construction and offer more Eco-Friendly options that are unseen to the public. Always health-conscious, this is a progressive and growing eatery — and a fun place to hang out. Note: Free Wi-Fi. Metered Parking is free until 10A. Expanded Hours 7A-8P Tues-Fri; 8A-8P Sat-Sun. Closed Mondays.

This could easily be a 5 star place & I might add a star in the future. Thanks to Ankur for inviting me over to join him for coffee today, and introducing me to this delightful new café. They have been open a couple of months and I simply had not noticed. I had jasmine tea only, but I did notice humongous blueberry muffins and cupcakes as big as I’ve ever seen, with frosting piled high. So, yeah, to go with the fair-trade organic coffees and teas there are muffins & pastries, as well as live vegan desserts. They also offer live green cocktails, vegan soups & health shakes. This is a welcome addition to the neighborhood for those of us who seek out organic & vegan options. The staff was wonderful — friendly & eager to please. I wish them much success. There is free Internet access and indoor & outdoor comfortable seating. Planet Earth is closed on Sundays.
