I’ve tried the Sunrise Café 3 or 4 times since new management took over, but things just haven’t worked out. The food quality is inferior to Lone Star, prices are marginally higher, & the service is poor. It’s too bad they opened in this location. If it were somewhere else it may have had a chance, but because Lone Star was a local favorite, Sunrise will always be trying to climb out of its shadow.

Had been here before when it was still called alone Star Café. The service was great, fast and friendly and food was delicious. Now, the service was so slow, the waitress took the order at our table for drinks and we did not se her for almost 20 min again to take our food order. We asked for a high chair for our 11mo old and she just pointed and said they are over there around the corner somewhere and walked off. The waitress was having an argument with the cook about an order that was mixed up and she was using profanity while doing this. We walked out, not worth the wait. Didn’t even wait for the food.

The Lone Star has recently reopened under new management. I had never been here before now. It was Christmas Eve and fairly quiet. The food was good, prices seemed fair. Service was decent. I will try it again, everybody seemed very nice. It was clean and comfy. Older building but in decent shape from what I saw. If your looking for a decent breakfast place in Hereford this is much better then the other option further down the highway.

Under new management. I really hoped this place would have been revived from it’s old glory after being closed down for about 6 months. Wait staff was great. Attentive, and friendly. We ordered a split plate of chicken fried steak. For 9.00 we expected something good. Wow. After waiting 45 minutes for one plate of food, I think it was the worst breakfast I’ve ever been served. We ordered English muffin as pur toast were given white toast of the cheapest bread and told after it was served they ran out of English muffins. The eggs we’re cooked alright. The chicken fried steak had been frozen and was still RAW in the middle. The ‘gravy’ they put on it was a gray thin watery slop. Obviously a packet mix gone VERY wrong. The hashbrowns that I ordered extra crisp were a sad pile of what looked like greasy potato pilaf? The potatoes had been over worked or something but were like little chopped bits swimming in old grease. The coffee was decent. If you want a decent cup of coffee, and eggs, and don’t mind waiting all of eternity with friendly wait staff, this is your place! Otherwise, skip it!

Ate here yesterday and we were the only people in the place. Food showed up cold and my toast was nothing but cold buttered bread. I sent it back and waited and waited and waited. No toast. Ate the rest of my breakfast and the waitress finally brought my toast. Told her to forget it now as it had been 20 minutes since she returned it to the kitchen. She stated that the toaster was on the blink but my friend’s toast was done to perfection. Service and food here are never consistent. Done trying.

Total Mom & Pop place… had breakfast this morning at Lone Star. There was about a ten minute wait and the restaurant was extremely busy, but still had good, prompt service and a decent breakfast. I didn’t feel there was anything to fall in love with on the menu here, but it wasn’t bad at all.
