I’m a big fan of fish and chips and am always perplexed that there are so few in the U.S.(no, I’m not British but U.S. born and raised!) The fish is very good and the portions are very good. The only thing that prevents me from coming here a couple of times per month(the last time I was here was well over a year ago, probably closer to two years) are the relatively high prices. I realize that seafood is, in general, fairly pricey and assume that’s the main reason. If I could afford to I’d be a regular here, the codfish is very good and cooked perfectly. One other thing: as others have mentioned, not being able to pay with a debit card is a MAJOR inconvenience. In the past I’ve bought upwards of $ 70.00 of seafood in one order and it was a bit of a pain to go to a local bank to get cash before visiting Simon’s!

My son and I were looking for a place to grab some seafood, that wasn’t a marisco restaurant. Found Simon’s on Unilocal and it had great reviews. The place was completely empty. The one employee, seemed like just hated being there. Not very outgoing at all. Ordered the fish and shrimp combo and some fried clams and chips. Although the food tastes great, the service was severely lacking. And no malt vinegar to be found!!! Only had two wedges of lemon available. If it weren’t for the taste, I would have rated it less.

Clean place. Cash only. Fish and clam chowder are delicious. Fish is pricey but large pieces. No desserts. All seafood except for chicken strips. Great food. Nothing fancy. served on paper plates, plastic utensils.

I just came here for the first time and this small place is clean and neat. The prices are similar to LJS, but the pieces are huge in comparison. The fish is not greasy or too fishy. My new favorite spot!

I got the 3 piece cod fish and chips. I like the French fries. Nice and crunchy and salted enough. I got 3 nice sized pieces of fried cod. With drink was about $ 12.00 which was a little pricey, but it was good so… The place was empty when we got there on a Sunday. Kind of odd for solid 4 star rating. The gentleman working there was courteous and was the only server. No body else around. Still … No complaints. Next time in Hemet I’ll come back.

This place is 5 out of 5 the fish is fresh, and the clam chowder I got was just made and delicious, I come from Vegas and I couldn’t find one very good and calm place to get fish and chips, but over the summer I come to California to visit my grandma and she told me about this fish and chips place and I was just dying to try it, and now that I’m here it’s absolutely wonderful, I’d definitely come back here next time I come, the place is calm and not packed so the service was wonderful, the food took a bit to come out but it was worth the wait, I recommend it to everyone!

We were nervous to try this place because we were the only customers the entire time but maybe it’s a just secret spot in Hemet. The food was good. Chicken fingers were out of a bag but the clam chowder was yummy and the fish too. They take cash only, just a warning.

Best fish & chips that you will find anywhere around or even near the Hemet/San Jacinto Valley. Small mom & pop joint that has been around for well over 30 years. Not the original owners, but still the same quality!

This place has been here for years, although it is not the same owner from when I was younger, they kept the same recipe over the years. If this was 15 years ago I would give them a five plus rating. However they are not the same anymore. The prices went sky high and the fish is very greasy now. Still has flavor and like that you have the choice to get cod, but at the same time I don’t think it is worth the money anymore.

Great family owned business with quality fish… My wife isn’t a fish fan and she loved and their Tarter sauce

Wife and I just ate here based on Unilocal reviews. We both ordered clam chowder(made daily) and fish(cod) and chips. The chowder was small but very good. The fish was also very good. Lots of other things on the menu(scallops, clams, zucchini, etc.) Small, locally owned café in a strip mall in East Hemet. Highly recommend this place.

Food was decent. Owners wouldn’t give us a lid for our cups, no refills, didn’t change cup when we asked for water, used cheap paper plates and décor is out dated. On the other hand, owners were pleasant. Bring cash — debit cards not accepted.

We have been going to Simon’s for years, and it never disappoints. It is simple food, but delicious. The fried oysters and clams are the best!

We were the only party in the place at 7PM on a week night. Was a little worried as they brought out the condiment tray from the refrigerator as we ordered. And when I asked for a cup of water, they gave me a real little cup(a pet peeve of mind, but when I’m being cheap and ordering water I roll with it). Cash only. The fish and chips came out hot and were good(think HSalt). The worker(owner?) brought us plenty of little condiments, and kept my little cup of water full. The place was spotless clean with eclectic fishing nick knacks on the wall. My little boy wanted to sit under the sailfish/blue marlin(?) and touch the puffer fish.

Simon’s fish and Chips is simple, you eat what the sign tells you to… Fish and Chips. Very clean and respectable this small Family run restaurant will fill you up and be glad you found decent fish and chips all the way out in the desert/valley of Hemet.
