My husband and I stopped by on Sunday, March 6. We were really excited about stopping because we used to visit this place when we were in high school a long time ago. We purchased a few donuts. Our bill was $ 4.70. When I checked my bank statement, there was a $ 3.00 tip added, which I did not authorize. Unfortunately, we were also disappointed with the quality of the donuts. This place is not the same. We will never go back to Flakey Cream.

My wife and I had only sat down for breakfast once before. Last Saturday we though we would stay for breakfast. This has been our doughnut place for a couple years now. So we had my 3 year old, and 2 month in his car seat. They sat us down at a table for four but we were so crammed they moved us to a bigger table in the back of the restaurant. Shortly after we ordered our food a party of 7 arrived. We were asked to move for the party of 7. So we moved back to the crammed table for 4, we were a bit frustrated but no big deal. We moved on even though the staff didn’t exactly apologise, or even offer to comp our meal. Then the food came. I got 3 or 4 bites in before I saw a good size hair in the center of my eggs Benedict. The hair was wedged in pretty good, and I knew it wasn’t mine. This actually really sucked because the eggs were done perfectly. So I showed our waitress and she took my food back, 20 minutes later and after wife and daughter were done eating I finally got my meal again. With very undercooked runny eggs. Again, no offer to comp my meal for the inconvenience. I probably should have made a bigger deal about but that’s just not how I am. This was the first time in my life that I did not leave a tip. They could have really done something here to make up for the bad experience. Hopefully the table to 7 left a big tip. After all that’s why they made us move to accommodate them. In my opinion, if you show up without notice and you’re a party of 7, you should expect to wait about 30 minutes before being seated. We will be looking for a new doughnut place.

Average run of the mill donuts, cannot comment on non donut items. Staff was very friendly though. Next time I would love to try the non sweet items to really give an accurate review.

I have to admit I hesitated posting this review because it may make it harder for me to get a seat at this old fashion donut shop. But, I do want to recognize a great place to go for breakfast and acknowledge the hard working staff. First the donuts are pretty good they make them fresh very early every day. The real gem is their breakfasts and especially their pork sausage gravy, damn it’s got to be the best gravy in the bay area. I test a good breakfast place by their chicken fried steak, some of you call it country fried steak. It’s one of those things that can easily be messed up like most bfast places and really suck. But done right it’s a piece of heaven on the plate and these guys nail it!

Great food. Friendly wait staff. Cheap. Much better than the uppity Downtown Bakery. The corned beef hash is delicious and definitely made from scratch.

Our normal breakfast breakfast place was really packed so we dropped in here and we’re pleasantly surprised. Nice staff and good food… generous servings for sure… plenty to take home and still be full.

Nice small town feel, with the best breakfast burrito around. Service is very fast and friendly. Only downside is that it closes at 2pm.

I hate even posting this but I have to give credit where credit is due. This place is a hole in the wall. A local diner. No different than you might find in a small mid western town… The staff is very friendly. The food is greasy spoon but my goodness, wonderful greasy spoon, portion sizes are plentiful, and it’s very reasonable especially in this amazing yet extremely expensive town. Open for breaky and lunch… skip the«do-nots» and grab yourself a stool at the counter and grub down before headed out to wine country. Great little hidden gem in Healdsburg…

As you probably know, the city of Healdsburg can be very expensive. And not visiting/living in Healdsburg can afford the lavish prices. For those of you who are looking for a more cost effective restaurant, this is your place. The portions are very large, the food is delicious, and the service is friendly. I have been to flaky cream dozens of times, and my favorite order is the supreme breakfast burrito. It may not be the prettiest or most luxurious restaurant, but the food will not do you wrong.

TIP: split your meal. The portions are huge! Basic diner fare here, just good down home cooking. I’m living in Healdsburg for the summer and getting really tired of the over priced pretentious restaurants in the area. Here most meals are $ 7 – 10 and will easily feed 2. My only complaint is that they are only open until 2 pm as I would really like to have dinner here.

I was skeptical when they changed ownership but it actually seems cleaner now. Yummy donuts, scumptious down-home breakfast, friendly people, excellent service, plenty of parking, close to town square without the uppidity price and attitude. There you go, open till 2:30 pm.

Ive been going to Flakys for over 10 years! And even though its gone through a few changes over the years, I keep going back. The service is always friendly, the donuts are always good. I have always ordered the same dish and even though its not on the menu anymore, I can still order it and its exactly the same as when I first had it in 2001. Love this place and as long as I can get my Chili Omelette fix, Ill always be back.

Cute little stop for a hearty breakfast. The menu is great and has lots to choose from! Our good took a little longer than usual to come out and it wasn’t very crowded. Donuts are already made and a quick bite before your meal if you’re starving. Overall, very enjoyable!

A great place for breakfast to go! Great quality food and I was surprised at all the options. Not a big doughnut person so I got one of the egg croissants(they’re huge!). We did get a doughnut to share and it was really good, very thick. Not a great place for a nice sit down breakfast though, more of a quick bite place, but don’t let the setting fool you, the food is really good.

I am reluctant to review«Flakey» as it is known, because it is one of the very few places in Healdsburg that is still for the locals. Personally, I love old décor of the place. They have been updating it, and many have complained they liked the«dated» look. Saturday mornings are my favorite, as seeing children bop in their p.j.‘s getting donuts never gets old. The two best features are that it is the only place open at 5:00 during the week and blueberry donuts are really good. I usually don’t order off the menu, they will make whatever you ask. Friendly staff is nice too

I like greasy spoon diners, but they need two things to counteract their aging furniture and chipped tile/linoleum — charm and good food. Sadly, I feel that Flakey Cream is lacking in both. Service was sufficient, but that was it. The breakfast we had here was subpar — mediocre at best. Even the flies were more interested in bothering me than my food. While this was not a terrible experience, there was just nothing at all that made me want to come back here. Judging by the overall 4 star rating of this place, my opinion is in the minority. Try it for yourself if you must, but I personally feel that you can do much better elsewhere.

Since Flaky Cream DO-Nuts was closed the last time I was in Healdsburg, I made a point to come up earlier to stop by since I’m still on my best donut quest. I had a bad feeling the donut probably wasn’t that great since the entire assortment of donuts looked really blah in the display case, but decided to purchase one anyway. Sadly, the Original Glazed Donut($ 0.90, ) was not good at all, and I was really disappointed. However, I did eat the donut the next day, so maybe their donuts need to be eaten the day of. Not even a few seconds in the microwave was able to resusitate it, and the donut became really difficult to chew, and there was no taste. The coffee shop is pretty small, and hidden in the middle of a strip mall. It’s about a block from the main downtown Healdsburg area, but not too far of a walk. I wish I had a better experience, since I like to support small businesses, and will have to come back to eat a donut the day of, or try their breakfast/brunch dishes. The cashier was really nice, and there is also plenty of parking in this center.

This is the place to go! I cant believe this place isnt packed on the weekends, especially at the time we went. This is also the 2nd time weve been here and the first time was no disappointment. We ordered the turkey club eggs benedict, it was perfection. Their french toast is also a winner too, and their donuts are so fresh And are some of the best ive had since I was a kid! The omelettes, breakfast served all day, friendly service and Im looking forward to trying their whole menu and their strawberry banana french toast and blueberry pancakes! ^_^

I love the name. I assume the only reason cream gets flaky is if it’s been sitting out way too long out of the fridge, but I think the name is meant to make their donuts sound tempting. It’s really an old-timey diner with old-timey food but good and unpretentious. Funny thing is that it’s just a couple of blocks away from the city plaza which is surrounded by pricier eateries catering to the more upscale wine country denizens. But this place is for the rest of us who aren’t big on ambiance after a long drive from Mendocino. Short and sweet, Jamie W. had a $ 7.25 Patty Melt with Fries, and I had a $ 7.75 Mushroom Cheeseburger with Fries(see photos). No fuss, no muss. Just straight-ahead, affordable grill grub completely unadorned with either aioli or arugula. Just a dill pickle chip. That’s it. It hit the spot and nothing more. It doesn’t promise to be anything more but grub by George. We were served by a really nice waitress who merely did her job with efficiency and a smile. We didn’t want anything more. Well, maybe a donut or two. FOOD — 4 stars… unfancy diner grub done right AMBIANCE — 3 stars… long counter and tables for two dominate with photo montages of local customers on the wall… doesn’t get more homestyle than that SERVICE — 4 stars… she was great, no complaints TOTAL — 4 stars… if just for the great name
