It’s still as good as it used to be. We went after so many years but the quality of food was as good as it used to be in the past. Not sure how the family owner is able to maintain the price much lower than any other place. Bless the lady who cooks and serves.

Saras Aunty makes the best food and has been for decades, she is always cooking fresh food and her taste is always distinguishable from other types of Fijian Indian food because she makes her own masalas etc, great great food always worth it. Thank you!

Came over for the first time. No Menu! The kitchen doesn’t look clean at all, left over food all over her pots and not even covered. Very dissapointed, it needs to be more sanitary. Did not order anything as she said all she had was vegetables. luckily for me, Not coming back!

Not what I was expecting. The place doesn’t look as clean however the food is really good specially the rice and lamb. She doesn’t have a menu so whatever she feels like doing that day that’s what you are going to get. The price is not bad either and she is very generous with the servings.

I never had Fijian food before and noticed this place tucked in between other Fijian and indian storefronts. It is a tiny spot, hence the ‘take away’ in their name. There are two two person tables though. Seems like she makes meat and veggie dishes for the day early on and that is the menu. So if you’re a picky eater, you should call and ask what’s being served. As for me, I eat just about anything and find that’s the best way to eat. The chef seems accommodating. Lady in front of me asked if everything is spicy and since it was, the chef/cashier/all in one gave her just chicken and rice which was not spicy. And she charged her $ 4 which was nice. I decided to try it all. My to Togo container was full with yellow rice that had bits of mixed frozen like veggies studded throughout. It was cooked perfectly. I had nice portion of curry chicken which was tender and the sauce was thin. The chili chicken was my fave. There was a small pool of chili oil but the chicken was well flavored in that good stuff! Also there were green beans and tomato sauce n the rice as the veggie sides. I liked the tomato sauce which flavored the rice. One gripe, although minor, were small bone fragments in the meat. I get it is chopped with bone in pieces of chicken which is prob authentic but be careful as you chew. Maybe need sharper machine like at butcher shops to keep those fragment from happening. The food doesn’t appear to be fancy but it is tasty. Feel like a comforting meal and I was starving when I began and finished 95% now feeling stuffed. I would say it can last two lunches. Or a lunch and snack. It is also hot and made my nose run. The owner was very nice to me and the two othwrs ahead of me so I wouldn’t let former reviews of their«bad experience» with attitude keep you from coming. Maybe that Unilocaler had a bad day. I’ll be back when I’m nearby. Eight dollars for homemade food.

A tiny store in a strip mall with an open kitchen, and you basically get a little of everything that the lady inside has made. Service is a little haphazard, the lady was chatting with the man in front of us for a while which was a bit annoying. There were two veggie options and both had potatoes(alu gobi and alu palak), they tasted nice like my moms cooking. The rice that came with the dish was quite bland though. My dish only cost 5 $ so no complaints really, if I worked nearby I would come here often but I wouldn’t seek out this place otherwise.

MAN… What can I say, this little place is one of my best finds I have ever made!!! Sara make one pot of curry a day. You get what she makes!!! You don’t get to choose. You get what you get… Now what you get is one of the most amazing meals your ever gonna get!!! Yes!!! I said that… So when the pot is done she closes her doors! Yes. It’s like that! I have been here lots! I turn on a what I call a meat and potatoes buddy of mine to this place and it changed his life! He has lunch there every Thursday now! Sends me a text every time he’s in there! So I really really think that you gotta try this place one! Take out only! She only has Two very small tables and 3 chairs. But its so so very good with using bad language. Lol must try!

This lady is so nice, I came in at about 4pm on a Saturday and she was nearly sold out of food. She gave me nearly everything that was left over from the pots which was A LOT of chicken and rice! I was so hungry and eager to buy everything but I was bummed out when she said she doesn’t accept debit. I was about to leave to get some cash from the atm down the street when she said she’ll give me the plate for FREE! I gave her the cash in my wallet and she only accepted 5 $ stating she«wishes she could give more, but she’s sorry that she’s sold out.» Food was very good and the chicken was spicy. The fish is spicy too and lightly salted.

I don’t know what the high reviews are about. This place is barely open, inconvenient. She is even meaner when you want to do a special order. Food is… meh. The worst part is how rude this lady is. She picks who she is nice and mean too. Extemely moody. Probably one of the worst customer service I have encountered. She thinks she makes the best food in town which is a joke.

You get what she cooks for the day and whatever it is… it’s going to be amazing. This is a hole in the wall place and there’s only one cook and she’s as authentic as they come. It has a «you indian grandma is cooking for you» kinda feel. I mean I don’t have an Indian grandmother but if I did, this is what I assume it would feel. I’ve been here twice already and both times my dish consisted of rice, one chicken stew type thing and a pork dish. There was something fried as well and I didn’t really care what it was because everything was good. Definitely try it out if you’re ever around Hayward.

I couldn’t pass this up! I was driving around and felt like Indian food. Jumped on Unilocal and this is what popped up. I couldn’t believe the price and how much I got!!! Everything I had was great. Price was great. the lady cooking, was fast and friendly. Definitely somewhat of a Hole in the wall spot.

Whoa. $ 8 for a HUGE helping of authentic Fijian-Indian food? Worth. Sara cooks what she feels, and you eat what she makes. No fussing with a menu, and the whole«what should I eat?» questioning. Perfect for indecisive people/couples(lol). The day I came, she served curry chicken, spicy shrimp, zucchini, apples, and rice. What surprised me was the lack of MSG she uses. This was perfect for me, especially since I had to drive 2 hours straight right after. The zucchini and rice was a good compliment to the balanced flavors and very enjoyable to eat. The down side, though, the spices were a bit too spicy and the chicken was dry. Also, for a lazy person like myself, I’d appreciate it if the shrimps were peeled beforehand: P. But seriously. For $ 8, I’d return.

My first experience with Curry Corner was pretty bad. My friend and I waited for hours because Sara was late. Moreover, the food was only so-so. Seven years later, my hungry stomach brought me back as I was strolling on Mission Boulevard. What makes this place different is you eat basically what Sara decides to cook that day. There really isn’t a set menu. Sara is very friendly and personable. You can tell she enjoys cooking authentic Fijian food. In addition, the portions and prices are super reasonable! I was served curry chicken and shrimp along with vegetables the day I went. Although, I’m not a big fan of the spices used, the flavors were very well-balanced. My only complain is the chicken was dry and overcooked. The spices were way too hot for my liking. And it was inconvenient that my shrimps weren’t peeled given how small they were. All in all, it can’t get any better than this. It is hard to eat a so called home cooked meal at restaurants now a days. I can truly say Sara cooks up some mean authentic Fijian meal. No MSG either guarantee!

Had this place bookmarked for SoOoOoOOOO long and finally had a chance to go! True definition of hole in the wall with it’s divey location and storefront. As soon as you walk in you get the smell that a lot of good Indian food has been cooking here. Places like this is what Unilocal was made for!( ) No menu, it’s $ 8 bucks for a monstrous combo plate of Fijian-Indian home cooked goodness. The plate was made of curried chicken and curried goat, 3 sides(spinach, stewed tomatoes, aloo mutter(peas/potatoes), atop a bed of fluffy yellow rice. Everything was tender and you can tell cooked with tlc. The flavors were familiar but a little different from the Northern and Southern Indian food I’m used to, still 100% delicious.( )

Came here based off all the Unilocal reviews I read. As soon as I walked in the lady that owns the place and her husband started talking to me and were so friendly. I ended up talking to them for about 10 minutes before even placing my order, lol. I ended up getting chicken curry because they don’t have crab curry right now; There’s barely any crabs this season she told me. She also gave me a «sample»(pretty much a size small) container of fish curry to try and it was delicious. I like that the food is so fresh and not made with a bunch of butter and oils like more chain places; You can taste the difference. For the chicken curry plate which was chicken curry, rice, potatoes and zucchini in a sauce, and a «salad» of cabbage I believe, carrots, and some other stuff it was $ 8. I didn’t even know what I was eating the whole time but I ate the hell out of it. Needless to say, I will definitely be back here. PS: It’s a VERY tiny place, get it to go and go the Cal State Hill to eat :)

This place is really a hole in the wall. When I drove up the neon ‘OPEN’ sign was off, but the door was open. I pulled up and parked in front and walked on in. An older lady was there cooking on her stove top and the cooking smelled amazing. I got excited. She noticed me right away and asked if I was gonna take it to go or sit in. I told her my order was to go and she started packing a little bit of everything on a to go plate. She let me sample some of the food before she packed it and was very generous with the servings. I mean, what I left with could feed a family of 3 – 4! All for the price of $ 8. She keeps the menu fresh by replacing the selections with a different selection once it is done throughout the day. Also, the menu is different from day to day. Today was chicken and pork, tomorrow will be shrimp and fish. Give you something to look forward to and keeps you wanting to come back. Today, I had the chicken curry and spicy pork. Both meats were fresh and tender. They had a well balanced flavor and a kick with the spice! I was served yellow rice and some yellow sauces on cubed potatoes along with some green beans. Also, she threw in some pickled veggies. Overall, it was a good first impression/experience. You know what your getting is fresh and good. I will definitely try this place again when I need a fix!

Advice: Call in to know the day’a menu/special! She changes the menu every day, so it’s best to call in to see what she is serving ! We didn’t know what to order. We asked her to give us the popular items ! The meal was good. I would describe the meal more in details but I don’t know the things she put in my Togo box. The rice was good as well as the spices in the sauces ! Awesome and sweet lady too! She serves a generous amount of food too!

Came here on the recommendation of a friend who got the recommendation from a Fijian Indian friend. Because otherwise you’d never think to stop by. It’s a real hole-in-the-wall in a strip mall with very little going on — just a car mechanic, tiny grocery store, Indian saris, a banner store and Curry Corner Takeaway. The restaurant is really meant for takeaway. There are only two small tables inside with a few chairs each. Most of the restaurant is taken up by the kitchen. At least there’s a bathroom in the back. Every day the dishes change. For $ 8CASH you get a plate of rice and whatever dishes the chef’s come up with for the day. On a recent Tuesday it included potatoes, chicken, and pork dishes. I’m not doing it justice but I don’t have any descriptions since there isn’t a written menu. Everything was good but the potatoes and pork were amazing. Really flavorful. The chicken and pork were tender, not dry or tough. There’s enough food for $ 8 to last two meals.

This place is so awesome. As authentic and homemade as one can possibly get without you hopping in the kitchen and making it yourself(oh wait — owner offers classes for that: p) I’ve only had it once, but already, I am won over by the price and just the loving nature she makes the food with. The meat quality was good, but I especially loved the veggies! So much flavor… MMM! And she always fills the whole container with food. So much food, that it lasted two meals easily! My one critique is that for me at least the meat seemed a little tough, and having the bones kind of splinter sometimes made eating messy and slightly less enjoyable than I usually would prefer. However, I do understand the culinary advantages of it, so I’ll just say that’s my personal preference. Really, people — visit if you have not! Keep this business alive & well for many years! :)
