If i’m craving for sushi, this is my go-to place. I love their lion king roll!!! It’s the bomb! I also like the salmon teriyaki bento box. The prices are not that expensive compared to other Japanese restaurants. Me and my husband always get the teriyaki so we have not really tried the other bento box. But you guys should really try out their sushi. It’s really fresh and delicious!

+/-THE FOOD For a «fast food» type of sushi restaurant, this wasn’t half bad. I had the double salmon roll, tried the lion king roll, the California rolls, and gyoza. The salmon was definitely not the best or fresh, but it wasn’t the worst thing on Earth either. The lion king was much better but it seemed kind of small to me. It was pretty simple and didn’t wow me too much. It seems like the lion king rolls are their best seller because they had a stamp card for just the lion king rolls. The California rolls was the only roll that was worth it. I’m not usually a fan of «simpler» rolls like these, but the portion sizes for that was pretty big. The gyoza were not crispy at all and was probably a pack of Costco-bought dumplings. +/-THE PRICES The special rolls are definitely not worth it. They’re $ 8 – 9 for about 8 small pieces. At a higher quality sushi restaurant, the prices would be only a few dollars more but it would taste significantly better. The only foods that would be worth it are the 2 for $ 5 foods. This would mean the California rolls since they give around 8 pieces per serving and that would be 16 pieces for $ 5!

Craving for Sushi? This might be the answer. I called in for a order pick up. It’s relatively cheap but don’t let the price fool you because the food was definitely good. Will come back for sure.

I came here on a Friday night with my family and the restaurant had a lot of people. Chef Teriyaki reminds me of the Sarku Japan Teppanyaki restaurants in the Westfield malls. They have a small seating area, but I was able to get a seat with my family because most people took their food to go. Staff was nice and friendly. They are helpful in showing you what their menu items are and what they offer. They also offer a stamp card where if you buy 10 teppanyaki plates, then you get 1 chicken plate free. Walking into the restaurant, the staff offered samples of their Lion King roll, which I thought was okay. I couldn’t really taste the salmon from my sample, but I’m pretty sure it’s a good roll to try. I wasn’t in the mood for sushi that night, but I did order the steak and shrimp teppanyaki plate with vegetables which was $ 7.25+ I believe. They give you A LOT of food and I felt full after eating the meal. However, I felt like the plate had more rice than meat and veggies. I barely had any of the steak on the plate, but the amount of shrimp they give you is reasonable. Their sauce was sweet and not too salty compared to other teppanyaki places, which was good. I tasted the chicken teppanyaki plate as well, but the chicken had too much of garlic flavor for me. Overall, food was okay and I would come back to try their sushi rolls.

Good food, excellent service. Delivers sushi for large orders. We order here a couple times a week for the office. Everyone enjoys the food. The staff is friendly. The rolls are pretty creative and fresh. The nigiri shows good knife skills and the sushi rice tends to be very good. We will continue to order from this awesome place. Thanks!

The California roll is good, but everything else is mediocre and similar to each other. I didn’t like that there were bones in my unagi. I would come here again if I want cheap California rolls.

One of the ways to my heart and stomach is a bomb Lion King Roll and this place makes probably one of the best that I have ever had. Chef Teriyaki isn’t your average Japanese/Sushi restaurant they are more of a fast food Japanese grill but don’t let that deter you because they make some really good sushi. They do Teppanyaki, bento boxes, sushi, gyoza and other Japanese specialties. I have been here a few times and have gotten a few different rolls and tried the Teppanyaki and I have not had a bad meal or item here. I really love their Lion King roll because it is made quite different, after it is baked they top it off with this yummy garlic aioli and unagi sauce and it just gives the roll a very smooth and garlicky taste but it goes well with the salmon and ca roll. I could probably eat two of these rolls back to back. The crunchy roll filled with crab, tempura shrimp, cucumber and then topped off with tempura crunch and unagi sauce is also another yummy roll and I would definitely go for that one( ). Their sashimi is good and fresh but the portions don’t really coincide with the pricing( ). Other than the pricing for the sashimi all the other rolls and items are pretty much cheap $ 10 and under. The service here is also wonderful you are definitely getting great food with a smile and great customer service. While fast food Japanese may not be for some people I really think it is worth a try because they are making some good food here and it’s good for those who may be in a rush and are looking for sushi that’s not overpriced. I will keep coming back for that Lion King roll and plan on trying some of their other rolls and bento boxes as well as their new special two items for $ 5. Come check them out!

This place is super close to home! I hear their sushi to-go platters are really good. After months of no sushi, I was craving and my husband called for an order for pick up. Based on our to-go order, this place is A-OK. Prices are super affordable, thats for sure! The quality of sushi is average. The size of the rolls are meh! Super small to my liking. We may come again for those party platters. As far as take out for dinner… I’ll drive a bit further to my tried & true — Sushiland! But welcome to the hood, Chef T!

The food here is a hit or miss. The chicken and rice plate is good and hey it’s local and cheap. However, they do tend to get very skimpy on the chicken. I remember opening up my order and there were tiny chopped up pieces of chicken, maybe 8 – 9 pieces. A lot of rice and no flavor vegetables. Other times it’s very good, packed with chicken and actual flavor. The sushi is alright, honestly I’ve had better so I rarely ever get the sushi there. Esp since if I want to pay regular price on sushi I’d just go to sushi house. All in all I come here when I’m lazy to go anywhere else for cheap chicken over rice food.

3.5 stars. It’s kind of like Sarku in Valley Fair with chicken teriyaki plates plus a bunch of extra offerings. I’d recommend the plate with noodles over the chicken teriyaki bento, just by looking at the difference in portion size. We got the bento version which you can see in the pic could have more chicken teriyaki and rice(if chicken is what you want). Otherwise you get a little bit of everything. I also got the Vegetable roll and Super California roll(unagi makes is what makes it «super») which I liked. Both simple and straightforward rolls. This is definitely fast food style food so that’s what I’m comparing it too. The service was very friendly and the food came out fast. Good for a quick bite.

First and foremost I want to shout out my man Jay for always treating me like a real VIP whenever I walk in, busy or not. If you’re looking for restaurant-quality sushi but don’t want to pay their ridiculous prices, this is the only place you should be stopping at. Allow me to start with their excellent service. When you walk in, you’re immediately given a warm greeting and an opportunity to try a free sample. The associate at the register has always been patient with me and is more than willing to offer descriptions of what they serve and recommendations if you’re having trouble deciding(pro tip: ask what they like, you’ll never be disappointed). I’m not even sure where to start with food; it’s all top-notch. The fish is so fresh you’ll be convinced it was still alive when you ordered. The rolls, while numerous and surprisingly varied, are all expertly made. From fresh rolls like the chef teriyaki, to baked ones like lion king(my personal favorite), to the deep fried ones like the Las Vegas, you’ll always find something to satisfy whatever craving you have. If rolls are t what you’re after, their tepenyaki and bento boxes will certainly do the job. I’m also convinced they’re lacing their miso soup with crack because it’s some of the best I’ve ever had. They have great specials(two CA rolls for $ 5) and also offer loyalty specials(buy eight lion king rolls, get one free), but what I appreciate most is the opportunity to make your own custom platter. I’m always going in and ordering 9 – 12 rolls at a time, so not only is this great for me, they do a remarkable job of making it look appetizing. Hands down, this is one of the best places in Hayward to get your sushi fix without emptying you bank account. This is the easiest decision you’ll make and I guarantee you’ll be back.

Great service! The reason for the 5 star rating is because their sushi rolls were on point. Neatly and tightly rolled just like how sushi is suppose to be unlike many other sushi restaurants. Not only is the sushi on point and neat, the environment there is very clean. The owner himself was very patient and friendly. The place can be very busy like it suppose to be but don’t let that stop you from eating at this great place if you want fresh and quality sushi. I would recommend this place for others if you have not tried this place before. 10⁄10 I would order my sushi from here again.

I’ve been here multiple times, and every single time I left extremely satisfied and craving for more. So far I’ve had: Chicken/shrimp/beef teriyaki: 9⁄10. Very exceptional teriyaki straight from the grill. Very large portions of hearty chicken breast, juicy beef, and nice sized shrimp. Their teriyaki plates are more on the wet side, meaning their sauce is more watery than the traditional thick. I personally like that but if you don’t, you will after trying it here. I do wish there was a char on the available protein when being cooked but it’s still delicious either way. Sushi: 8⁄10 I’ve had a couple rolls here, the spicy tuna and the lion king rolls are easily one of the better tasting sushi rolls that I’ve had in the east bay, especially for that price. They sell all their rolls for under 10 dollars, and the quality is about the same, if not better, than restaurants that sell their rolls for 15+. Sashimi: 8⁄10 Their sashimi is fresh to order and decent sized pieces for the price. I had a small sample size but, it’s quality fish. Tempura: 8⁄10 so delicious! Just the knock on this was that when I got it in my bento box is was cold, and not hot. I enjoy this place so much. They even have a frequency card for their delicious teriyaki. I’ll probably end up coming here once or twice a week. They serve quality Japanese restaurant food at a fast food price and it can’t get better than that. The service is pleasing, each employee always has a smile on their face and is always helpful, and the place itself is always clean and appealing to eat at. Chef teriyaki is going to be my go to spot for a while, and that is guaranteed.

Basically Japanese fast food. Went here for lunch and I was really surprised and pleased with my meal. We got samples of the lion king roll when we were about to order. It was yummy and its always nice to get samples! I couldn’t believe their cheap prices for the sushi rolls. I was expecting mediocre quality but I got the complete opposite. I ended up sharing the chicken and shrimp teriyaki with noodles, a spicy salmon roll with the spicy cream sauce, and a spicy tuna roll with my bf. The total came out to $ 21. We checked in and also got a free ice cream for the end of our meal. The food came out fast. I was still very hesitant about everything because it seemed too good to be true but the food was great! Yeah it’s not the highest quality fish and it’s not an authentic Japanese place but it does the job. The shrimp was nice in the noodle plate, they weren’t stingy with the shrimps which is good. I wish they would have put less teriyaki sauce in the noodles but it was a big portion and tasty. The rolls were great as well! You get 8 well made pieces for only $ 6. You can’t beat that. The spicy tuna was my favorite. All of their rolls were under $ 10. Soooo cheap. Don’t come in looking for a nice sushi bar. This is quick and easy but it does the job especially when you’re on a college budget. The people were friendly as well. Will definitely be back when I’m in the area!

We had initially planned to eat at the restaurant, but realized the atmosphere is more like a fast food spot so we took it home. We got two free ice cream scoops for checking in on Unilocal, which was awesome! We both picked coconut at the recommendation of the guy helping us and it was delicious! Fresh coconut chunks and a not-too-sweet but creamy flavor. Yum. They have a ton of menu options, it’s a little overwhelming. Eventually decided on a salmon bento box. Husband got a bento box as well and some nigiri on the side. The salmon was a little on the dry side but the teriyaki sauce was a good flavor. I liked the crispy cali roll that comes with it, it tasted very fresh. The shrimp tempura was a little bit too breaded and oily for me and the shrimp itself was kind of overcooked. Husband really enjoyed his nigiri platter. We also got a sample of the lion king roll when we were waiting for our food and it was pretty good… a bit heavy on the mayo though. Overall: good value. We will be back. Next time I want to try a few of their rolls and will probably stay away from the tempura.

So this place was recommended by my friend, and the prices are cheap, and very reasonable. They have really good deals which is awesome! They gave my boyfriend and I a free sample of their lion king roll which was good. The ambiance is okay, nothing too special but it’s clean. The girl who works at the cashier is really friendly and nice. We ordered the shrimp and steak teriyaki plate, 49er roll, a California hand roll & Salmon skin hand roll. The food were good, I just wished that their menu said which ones were raw, baked or fried. Other than that my experience was great. I would definitely recommend.

Great service and I order ahead by calling in. Weekend Special California Rolls are super cheap and worth stocking up on to feed the entire family! I always order the Steak and Shrimp teppanyaki combo. This is not chunks of USDA Prime steak, so don’t expect it. Rather, you have thin slices of beef similar to Korean bulgogi beef. Still just as tender and full of flavor. Quality of their fresh sushi rolls rival those of sit down Japanese restaurants. My wife’s favorite is their Lion King, great and inexpensive. I love the value and friendly service. They also have stamp cards for each visit. Make sure to check-in on Unilocal to get a free appetizer of your choice!

Just for checking in on Unilocal,l got 3 pieces of gyoza freshly made! Then l wanted something different from their sushi roll menu. Jay, the owner suggested l get the Kamikaze roll(spicy tuna, tempura shrimp, and cucumbers) inside the roll and outside the was crab meat mixture and tempura pieces. I think l got it right. Anyway, the roll was delicious! Jay, told me that their going to put new sushi rolls item on their menu!!! I’m a type of person who loves to try new things!

Reasonably-priced, Japanese-style fast food. Is it authentic Japanese? No… but its still has great flavor. Ordered the chicken teriyaki(prepared on the griddle) with steam rice and a side of vegetable termpura. Chicken was made to order so was hot, and the tempura was already prepared and surprisingly still crunchy. Friend ordered the dragon roll — shrimp tempura with unagi on top — thumbs up. Located in the mini strip mall next to Valero gas.

I was rolling around in my Whip Black Beauty and was a little Famished. So I thought I would eliminate a Bookmark and stop By Chef Teriyaki . Chef Teriyaki is a Concept Restaurant — Its Model is Sushi & Teppanyaki As Fast Food and Affordable Prices. Chef Teriyaki Japanese Grill is located in a Small Strip Mall off of Hesperian. There’s Parking in there . I rolled into Chef Teriyaki and it was Brightly Lit and a Packed House. I perused the Menu while I was waiting in line. Everything on the Menu was aggressively priced and fairly inexpensive . I ordered Steak & Shrimp Teriyaki, Grand Opening Special California Roll On Special for a $ 1, Rising Sun Roll and Shrimp Tempura. I was assigned number #72 as my order number by the Cashier. I paid by Master Card . I checked into Chef Teriyaki on Unilocal and was rewarded with a Unilocal Check in Offer a free Medium Fountain Drink. Cool Thanks Unilocal and Chef Teriyaki. 8 Minutes later my number #72 was Called and I rolled up to the Grill and picked up my order I rolled to my Table and opened my Steak and Shrimp Teriyaki plate and was Sorely disappointed there were about 6 Pieces of Steak and 5 Shrimp. I was very disappointed with the Portion but what was there tasted great. The folks next table over asked me what I thought of the food. I told them that I enjoyed the Flavors and the Freshness of the Food. But I thought the Portions on the Steak and Shrimp were small. Then I showed them the Picture I had taken of it. They were Shocked. They turned out to be the Owners Brothers and they went and told the Owner Jay. Jay the owner came to my table and was very Apologetic. When I showed him the picture of the Portion he was shocked as it was not up to his Standards. He excused himself very Briefly and returned with a California Roll and Edamane and a Card for a Complimentary Teriyaki Chicken meal to make it right . Jay is a very nice guy and Takes Customer Service and his Product Quality very seriously . Jay is also the one who came up with the Concept for Chef Teriyaki Japanese Grill and Hopes to Franchise his Idea . My Shrimp Tempura was cooked perfectly and tasted great . My Sushi Rolls were well constructed and the Fish and Eel was fresh and tasted great. They Also Do Catering . They have a Unisex Restroom . They have LCDs TVs for Entertainment . Jay has totally Remodeled the Space and the Menus are Backlit and very easy to read . The Counters are even Granite. I had a good Experience and Meal at Chef Teriyaki and the Customer service was Excellent . Ill return I’m a Fan.
