Since moving to Haverhill over a year ago, I’ve been searching for my favorite pizza in town. For reference, I last lived in Salem, MA and Damatas was my go-to place there. After trying many other places, I’d say that Stymies has the best pizza in Haverhill. It is a very good Greek style pie with appropriate distribution of sauce & cheese with a nice crispy outside/chewy inside crust. I haven’t yet tried the subs, but I have ordered fried pickles and zucchini sticks. The pickles were great; just like you’d get at Beer Works or Texas Roadhouse. The zucchini sticks were nice and fresh, but I prefer them battered rather than breaded like these were. I recommend trying out the pizza on Tuesday when you can get a small for $ 3(pickup only unless your order is over $ 8). They also offer free delivery, but I don’t know why anyone would opt for that; They have The Simpsons Arcade Game there! If that doesn’t bring you in, nothing will. I’ve also found the staff to be friendly.

This neighborhood pizza shop(under new management) serves up thin crust pizza(10″-16″), calzones, subs, salads, appetizers, pasta dinners, dinner plates, Pepsi drinks from the cooler, and energy drinks. Specials are offered during lunch including pizza slices($ 1.75 each, toppings extra) and small sub with chips & soda for $ 7.49. They also sell snacks including the Lays bagged chips and small bags of King Henry’s snacks(bulk nuts & candies). The place is order at the counter and there’s self serve seating in the casual dining area with TV, walls decorated with some Patriots and Bruins pride. I ordered from Stymie’s Pizza very recently. I ordered a small Haverhill Hilltop Pizza($ 6.79) and a Gyro Dinner($ 7.29) for takeout. The food was ready in about 25 minutes after placing my order. The gyro was pretty good, which had ample grilled gyros meat, onions, tomatoes, & yogurt dressing on a thick warm soft flatbread. The battered fries and the homemade battered onion rings were deep fried golden crispy. The Haverill Hilltop Pizza was the ultimate topper of a pizza, topped/layered with 10 toppings(pepperoni, sausage, meatball, ham, salami, fresh mushrooms, onions, green peppers, black olives, & fresh tomatoes) plus extra cheese on a thin and crispy crust. However, there was a lot going on with the pizza(a mix of flavors) and the pizza was very greasy all around including the bottom crust, grease absorbed by the wax paper on the bottom of the pizza box. After one slice of pizza(small 5″ slice), I had enough for dinner and consumed this pizza over a couple days. PARKING: A few spaces on the side of building along Haverhill Street
