Microtel Inn & Suites Hattiesburg

One star for free wi-fi…oh wait, you have to ask for a new/​updated/​working password few times a day…
Here is what I found — bloody stains on the pillow cases (on the other side, so you can’t see it right away)
Somebody’s hair EVERYWHERE — «clean» towels, the floor, the bed…
Breakfast — oh well…
Oh! And if you ask for a wake up call, please ask the manager to confirm the hour — otherwise you’ll get it — an hour early!!!
Horrible! Horrible! Will never stay there again!

After staying the previous night in the nearby Baymont Inn (gross), I moved over to Microtel and was very pleased with the experience. Simple rooms with nothing too fancy, but very clean, quiet A/​C, things new-​looking carpet, etc. Highly recommended over the other Hattiesburg hotels in the same price range. Fast wi-​fi and friendly front desk staff, even at a 2AM check-​in.

My coworker and I switched from the Hampton Inn across the street to this Microtel when we discovered that the HI only had exterior-​door rooms available, despite having booked us interior rooms.
This is a pretty basic hotel, but it was VERY clean, friendly service, and everything worked like it should. I love that you can grab a fountain drink any time of the day or night. The free breakfast leaves a little to be desired, but there is cereal, juice, coffee, tea and milk, toast, doughnuts, and instant grits/​oatmeal. Fairly decent selection given the low price of the rooms.
I was pretty impressed — I will probably make this my go-​to hotel in Hattiesburg. My only real complaint was that noise from other guests was more noticeable than at a higher end hotel. I just turned the fan on and got a good night’s sleep anyway!

This hotel was great, especially for the price. We were there to do a college visit at USM, and Microtel was in a great location. The only real downsides: 1) the noises from the upstairs guests — I’m sure they were only walking, but it sounded like elephants up there! 2) The breakfast selections are pretty sad, and the eating area got crowded very quickly. In addition, the eating area blocked one of the entrances, so it was difficult for us to take our luggage out to our car while others were still having breakfast. However, despite those downsides, the room was clean, sized well, and comfortable. If I return to USM/​Hattiesburg, I would stay here again. Thanks to the other Unilocal reviews for helping me make the decision to stay here.

A surprisingly nice hotel. I stayed here for a week on business. I seriously thought Microtel’s were really ghetto when my company booked this hotel for me, but its actually a great value. Their breakfast selection could be better: there is no cooked to order breakfast or fresh eggs or sausage. They have boxed krispy kreme donuts, cereal, bagels, toast, and microwaveable jimmy dean sandwiches and burritos. Microtels are a step up from Super 8s I fell. It is conveniently located on Hardy Blvd which has a lot of stuff on it. You are walking distance to the Olive Garden and Longhorn Steakhouse and Wendy’s somewhat. Best Buy, Rite Aid, Chili’s, Mexican restaurant, Chinese buffet are across the blvd but I do not recommend walking across that hectic blvd.

In a safer area of Hattiesburg. Clean, friendly and well lit parking lot near many restaurants. Small room, bed was comfortable. I would stay here again.

My experiences at the Hattiesburg Microtel have been mixed and my most recent stay convinced me never to return. I was told that there is new management and it seems they’ve let cleanliness go. There were roaches in the room and bathroom and the bed sheets were dirty. While the staff did change them, there’s nothing worse than checking into a dirty room. It really makes you wonder what else is lurking!

This hotel is awesome! Very helpful staff. Smallish room, but extremely comfy beds. Very good design. Great location. Free wi-​fi. Near shopping & restaurants. Easy to find. Lots of storage space.
