Would you believe that I live a hop and a skip from this place and I have never been? What have I been doing with myself? I stopped in here for a breakfast meeting because the person I was meeting is a regular here and were both close enough to make this a good meet up spot. The restaurant is pretty basic: you order at the counter and the waitress will bring your food out to you when it’s ready. Because I was here for breakfast, I got the traditional breakfast(#1), which was 2 eggs, bacon, toast and grits and coffee. The grand total was around $ 9, which is a little more expensive than other breakfast spots, but not a huge issue. The food was great and I loved that my eggs were cooked perfectly(over easy) and the bacon was nice and crispy. The staff here is super sweet and are quick to warm up your coffee when you need a refill. All of the patrons seem to know each other and whenever someone walked in the door, other customers would immediately greet them with a pat on the back or a handshake. This is the regular breakfast joint for a lot of local folks. They also serve lunch and they are open until 6, if you are in the mood for an early dinner. Lunch items on the menu include po boys, sandwiches, salads, platters and other things along that line. I probably wouldn’t lunch here, but I will definitely be back for that delicious breakfast.

I had some fried shrimp and onion rings. They were decent. I should have gotten a po-boy.

I got the po-boy and gumbo and it was comparable to DiMartino’s aside from one thing. The price and a scoop of potato salad. There is no way in $&@” that you could walk out of this place for less than $ 10, much less $ 20. I fell that a $ rating is misrepresentation. Especially when they say«we have Pepsi products», point to a bunch of bottles, and after ringing you up for $ 2+, fill up a cup with ice and top it off with a bar type pour spout. I was like omg, wt…

So Brother’s is highly touted on Unilocal but it seems like a Carolina breakfast place to me. When I go to a restaurant in New Orleans I expect at least some N.O. staples or some forward thinking in the menu. Why not grits with shrimp etoufee? Or seafood omelet with a beignet? I guess sometimes just plain olé grits are good. And they are. The grits were good and my cousin loved hers. She is a major grits eater and was impressed with the creaminess thereof. I am not a grits eater but they were good. Now the pancakes were fluffy and goodness in my tummy. Over medium eggs are just that and they were eggs. My bacon was soft like I like it. I did have Community Coffee babe and of course it was bomb. Overall just breakfast. Nothing special and nothing I would go back for. I will try them for lunch as everyone on Unilocal has major reviews for that. Breakfast is just meh.

Always enjoy a poboy from brother’s café. I have never been disappointed. Service is great and fast. Food is delicious. I come back to this place time after time! Just wish they would be open a bit later than 6pm.

Hamburger Steak and sweet potato fries. Best on the WB. A true family restaurant. I wish the WB had more of these places. Support your local small business owners.

Good basic deli diner food. Reasonably priced but don’t expect any bells and whistles here. If you can find it in your pantry at home, it’s what will be on your plate. We did not get breakfast though and I have a feeling that is a lot better than lunch. All around good basic food.

Stopped in for some breakfast during a recent visit with family. Service was friendly and prompt. Food was very good. Prices were extremely reasonable. Brothers will be on my short list of breakfast restaurants. Can’t wait to try some of their other menu items for lunch and dinner.

Yummo, I had their sausage with red beans & rice lunch special and it was so fresh and delicious. My friend had the seafood muffuletta and it was also amazing. The coffee with chicory put Café DuMonde to shame, it was soooo good. Service was friendly and helpful, Brothers is a great home cooking spot!

So I stopped by again a couple of weeks ago and got a shrimp poboy dressed of course! It was delicious !! It was not messy to eat at all. The bread was perfectly crispy and chewy. It’s more expensive compared to Brother’s Food Mart, but it is definitely better quality!!! Mmm! Can’t wait to come back!

This place has been here for 40 yrs and expanded post Katrina. The service is friendly and welcoming. The food was average breakfast fare. Filled us up for the day. The bisquits were good but it was disappointed they didn’t have white gravy but they explained that there wasn’t enough of a call for it so they don’t make it.

Great spot for lunch!!! I had a craving for shrimp po’ boys and they did this one well! Not drowned in mayo! Fried to crispy goodness! As a matter of fact if simple pleasure could be fried and served on a plate then this’d be it. The fried Catfish poboy is equally deelish! Grab yoself a bag of Zapps tater chips and call it a lunch!

Nice place on the Westbank, we opted to go here during Mardi Gras to avoid all the road closures and parade routes, and we were pleased. Homestyle breakfast for a great value, nice people and great service. We had the«Big Deal» which was huge and delicious! Everything was cooked perfectly! I would come here again.
