Out on the lake so we decided to try the fish fry. Called ahead and were told there were open tables on the patio. It was 6:30 and we had two young kids with us but we figured that was plenty of time to eat and ride the two minutes home to get them to bed at 8:30(which becomes considerably longer once it gets dark and becomes no wake). So we walk up from the docks and ask a bus boy just to be sure about getting a patio table & he directs us to a hostess who says it’s open seating. A large table comes open and the six of us take it. We sit a really long time then finally flag down a server who gets us drinks and menus. After a half hour another customer comes out accusing us of taking her table. She says the hostess promised the table to her and then told her we stole it. Ok, uncomfortable but we’re not moving, we’ve got kids to get to bed and where were you the last half hour? Anyway, we order our food, and one of the men working there comes up to us like he’s going to make us move but then realized we already ordered so he stands directly behind my husband talking with others about what to do about the table situation. Again, uncomfortable. So, we watch them set up a table for the lady who accused us of taking hers. She’s with a large group and they somehow manage to get their food before us, and not like a minute before but like 20 minutes before. Ok, now we’re getting impatient. Food finally arrived and we placed an extra order of fish right away because we can obviously see how this is going. Needless to say, after two hours it got dark, I had to leave before finishing my food because I needed to loaded a seadoo that can’t be driven in the dark. Everybody else grabbed their food in to go boxes and ate on the ride home, I don’t know if they ever even got the fish reorder. No drink refills, no how is your meal, etc. Servers running around like crazy people because there are obviously not enough of them. For a place that has nothing on the menu but side salads under $ 35 I would expect them to have their act together better than that. By the way, the two stars are for their only saving grace, a beautiful patio and great weather.

As a business owner who works with Seven Seas, I must say I’m extremely impressed with the amazing staff at this establishment. Amanda is very pleasant and ensures that everything is perfect, responds to phone calls and emails promptly. I truly enjoy working with this venue and highly recommend it to anyone planning a wedding or any other event.

This review pertains to Sunday Brunch. We thought it was excellent and the price was fair for what it is, which is a ton of delicious food, served in a friendly and timely way in a memorable lakefront atmosphere. I highly recommend it.

We were there for Valentines /birthday. The place is beautiful inside. The scenary looks nice outside from the waffle/omelet station. The food from that station were good. I liked the freshfruits, some of sweet rolls from the basket, the prime rib was good but too thin., the steamed veggies weren’t done enough. The fried chickens were too dry, also burnt/too crispy tasteless bacon. If not for the waffle/Omlet station & a thin piece of prime rib, there was probably nothing else to eat. I was expecting to go up to serve ourselves & get what we like to eat but what they offered weren’t much for a brunch. Sorry I had to voice myself but I don’t think I will come back for brunch again. Regular menues? maybe! Will see.

I had never been to a restaurant for Thanksgiving, and after this year’s experience, I’m inclined to go back to cooking. They offered their Thanksgiving menu from noon to 6pm, and when my sister called for a reservation for 5 people, she was told 4:30 was the earliest available. Ok, fine, we all had a drive to make anyway. Arriving a few minutes prior to the reservation, we were told that we would be called. All in all, it was an hour past our reservation when we were finally seated. The crotchety old lady at the hostess stand gave no warning that they were running so behind, and no apology was offered when we were finally seated. If making a «reservation» just means that we’re on the list, that would have been nice to know! I was pretty surprised to learn from our waitress that they were offering their usual full menu along with the Thanksgiving meal, and two of our party ordered off the regular menu. Though the rest of us opted for Thanksgiving, it was a bit unclear what that entailed, and our waitress never did really explain it. It was served family style for the table, with turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes all on one platter, a pathetic little bowl of veggies that tasted like fajita peppers, cranberry sauce, gravy, and sweet potatoes that were forgotten until I asked our waitress where ours were. The best part was the pie, though the apple pie didn’t need powdered sugar sprinkled on top and our waitress had to come back to confirm that yes, all three of us had ordered apple pie. If you can’t remember, write it down! While it was nice to see the family and not have to prep/cook/clean up, I would not return to the Seven Seas for a holiday or even just for a meal. They clearly don’t care about their customers, so I don’t care to give them any more business.

We were thinking this was not going to be a very good experience. We were greatly delighted. It was great. We had reservations and were seated at a table overlooking the lakeside. Nice view of the wedding taking place in the gardens below us. Our waitress stopped by several times to take our orders, but we were busy catching up with each other. We finally got down to the business of ordering. Menu selection suited the four of us. One duck one rib eye one prime rid and my shrimp dish. Salads and my appetizers. We were not rushed. As is the rule at most restaurants these days, its get them in get them served and get them out. Make way to fill the table again. No, we had a very pleasant dining experience. As a matter of fact, we were at our table for 21\5 hours. Not rushed, eating great food. Service gets a ten out of ten. Food gets tens. Pricy yes. $ 220.00 including tip. Four of us. Will be going back.

Tried to sit on the patio. We sat down, 5 minutes later a table of 11 sat down next to us. We waited another 5 minutes. A waitress walked up to the large table, they weren’t ready so she walked back to the bar and chatted with the bartender. 5 minutes later she returned to the large table to take their order. After that she checked in on a few other tables. It was at that point almost 15 minutes later that we decided to leave. We never once had a waitress even speak to us. It was the most awful service I ever had.

Great location and a beautiful view from the patio. Scallop appetizer was recommended and it was delicious. Service was friendy but very slow, entrée salad was dripping in oily dressing. Trout was overpriced. The interior needs a makeover, patio could use a cleaning also to remove the cobwebs.

For everyone that work so very hard on Mother’s Day and spent it waiting on us and not with your own mothers THANKYOU! To the people that think that anyone has any control on the people in front of you for the table you will be seated at shame on you for blaming the seven seas! Did you want them to kick the people in front of you out? When you have a reservation it is to reserve a seat in the restaurant and hopefully the people in front of you will eat and leave promptly. If they decided not to leave on time then everyone waits.

Went there today for Mother’s Day brunch. Never again! They don’t know how to make reservations !! Had reservations for 12:30 and didn’t get seated until almost 2:00. Way overbooked makes a lot of unhappy customers. When I got there at 12:30 the 11:30 people were still waiting.

Overall, I’m a fan of Weissgerber’s restaurants and this is my first review in Unilocal and 10 years ago, they would have received 5 stars. Seven Seas should get an overall 3.5 stars in my book(but I can’t give half star) and to summarize, okay to very good food, good service but does not live up to the Golden Mast or Hans’(senior) vision and tradition for fine dining, impeccable service experience and excellent food/menu. We came here for Mother’s Day brunch many years and stopped 3 years ago because the value and quality went down every year. Follow me to see my review of where we go now in a few weeks! My grandfather was a close friend of Hans and Maria Weissgerber and saw the growth and expansion from Golden Mast to what they have now. We had a party of 4 for dinner last night and most of us had the fish fry and another had the Salmon. As mentioned, overall good but value doesn’t live up to what I have grown to expect from a Weissgerber restaurant. I am more than willing to pay if the service and food meets or exceeds(value). As my grandfather always said, «it only take a little more($) to go first class!» Last night we paid to go first class and we never made it out of coach. $ 45 per person with only 3 wines and 3 desserts added to a party of 4 with 3 fish fry and a salmon entrée. The fish fry is family style. The cole slaw is amazing. Fresh cabbage and not over vinegar. Potato salad too much onion as everyone mentioned that in our party. Fish fry overall is good, but not the best in the area nor for the price $ 16 per plate. Now, if you follow my reviews, whenever I have a chance to sample a restaurant’s crème brûlée I do. I feel this is a great way to measure the quality of a restaurant. Seven Seas crème brûlée was not real crème brûlée. It is suppose to be an egg custard. The schaum torte with raspberry chambered was amazing as was the apple strudel. The setting and ambiance is amazing. The view of the lake and water fall next to us. Linen and clean. In short, I know what the Weissgerber’s expectations are for service and work ethics. I cannot give a complete review for service as my friend mentioned I was using pictures I was taking for Unilocal and suddenly our overall service ramped up. I had to explain to my friend that is not my intention to get better service, but we were out for his birthday. If you want an overall better fish fry(quality and value) I can recommend in the area to try the 5 O’Clock Club, Butler Inn or even Genesee Depot Café(half the price).

Drove up from Illinois to meet friends for a fish fry. Had dined at this restaurant many many years ago… and remember a pleasant experience. However this time was a huge let down. The only thing enjoyable was the view. The service was okay to good… the server was not bad but we have had better servers. The food was just let me say…“edible” for a lack of words. I had baked cod we had no other choice except for catfish. I was hoping for perch or walleye. Some of the guests got it fried. It is served family style with cole slaw, fries, and potatoe pancakes. My husband said the potatoe pancakes were the best part of the meal. My cod was over cooked and rubbery. I would think the chef would know how to cook fish. Perhaps we are spoiled from all the wonderful restaurants in Illinois but am surprised this place has continued to stay in business. It is old fashioned to say the least. Get a new chef that knows how to cook. It is a beautiful place and deserves one. Prices were more than they should have been for what we had… but then had the meal been outstanding we wouldn’t have minded paying the price. I certainly wouldn’t have a wedding at this place. If they cannot get a fish fry correct I would not trust them for a wedding. Will not bother to make that drive again. Will meet them at Panera first… they have better food.

Underwhelming dining, overpriced, over rated, terrible service staff attitude. Go else where, where you are appreciated. This place is like having a cute girlfriend that everyone hates… Went here with a group of twenty for Valentine’s Day… Terrible service, arrogant staff empowered in ignorance by old school owners who are lax at best… The owners only think they are running the show, but are glorified hosts at BEST… the staff rules the roost here and they are not very good. Severs acted troubled by every request. Several at the table ordered the prime rib, and after asking the server several time for horse radish, we then resorted to asking the water boys and bussers for it, who again deferred to getting us out waitress who scolded us for asking yet again. When it finally arrive we were brought a small ramekin that contained about 2 tbs. full. Several of asked for additional servings, only to be told we would never use it and just share. We used it and never got more… With their $$$$ prices, this is ridiculous. Additionally, out group, even having reservations for weeks, was broken up rather than being seated together… Then based on how they arranged us, the servers complained that we were blocking the aisles, even though they set up the seating arrangement.

We went for dinner on Saturday night. Flags should have gone up when there was an abundance of reservations on open table and few cars in the parking lot when we arrived a little before 7:00. We were seated immediately and had to ask for a wine list and drink menu. Ordered an expensive french wine. When the waitress finally brought it a half hour later, she had trouble opening it as the cork started to disintegrate. My husband asked if there was a wine person that could help and waitress said no. My husband tried to open the bottle but had no luck. Waitress took bottle to bar area. Then proceeded to get a second bottle of wine and had the same problem. In the meantime we still had no wine and now our salads were served. We finally got the wine list back to select a different bottle. Waitress arrives at table with a decanter of wine and said they were able to get the first bottle open and strain it and decant it. It tasted fine, but had cork floating in the glasses and decanter. Told waitress we couldn’t drink it and she took it back to bar area. Meantime, our food arrived and still no wine. Waitress finally asked if we wanted a glass of wine, which we ordered and didn’t arrive until after we were eating our entrees and had been at the restaurant for over an hour. Then a while later she came back with another decanter of wine, must’ve been the second bottle. Wine was cloudy and tainted. Sent that back too. She did say our glasses of wine were free and offered us another glass on the house. Very disappointing. No one ever came to our table to apologize. The hostess and bar people were invisible. We used to frequent Golden Mast and Seven Seas when the original owners ran both places. They would never have allowed this type of service. Very sad that whoever in the family is running the restaurant doesn’t seem to care about customer service. Salads were probably the best part of meal. Veal was good but spaetzle was poor. Duck was average. We will never go back or recommend Seven Seas.

We got married here in 2011. The lake view is wonderful and the grounds are very clean. The brunch we had was good but the fish fry is even better! We came on Halloween for fish fry and it was fun to see the restaurant all decked out and everyone dressed up in costumes.

Growing up in the lake country area I have always wanted to come here but knew it was expensive. Finally at 31 I ended up going for a birthday and am extremely disappointed. We were not welcomed at the door upon arrival but found a coat room to hang coats. We got seated and waited for over 10 minutes for a server to come over to us. We asked for a wine list in which she disappeared for another 5 minutes before getting our drinks. We had a tray of oysters, which were good. I ordered lobster tail and filet. The filet was overdone and not good at all. This is the first time I have not finished steak at a fine dining restaurant. The lobster was very tough but good. The waitress would grab our plates she stacked them directly behind us which lasted our entire meal. Where was a bus boy? Terrible service by the entire staff all night. It’s sad to see a place of this stature and history so poorly run and managed. Someone needs to step in and restore this landmark ASAP!

Where do I start? I got married here. Ceremony, reception, whole deal. I would give our wedding five stars because it came together despite some circumstances, and we ended up married at the end of it, which is what really matters. I give the lake and the view five stars because they’re beautiful on their own. For our rehearsal the day before, which we scheduled with their coordinator, no one was there. If that is how they operate, I would have appreciated being informed. We wandered around looking for someone, but the building was locked and lights were off. So we just showed ourselves over to the Terrace and had to guess where everything would be staged the next day. We held our ceremony on the Terrace and our reception in the Captain’s Room. We got married on a Sunday afternoon, and were told that because the restaurant closes at 2 on Sundays, we would have the grounds to ourselves. They forgot that they were having another special event that Sunday so we would not in fact have the grounds. What we would have was people on the patio eating and talking through our ceremony and stranger’s children running through our wedding pictures. We also had a big ugly plastic«BRUNCH» banner up above the patio which was not there when we looked at the space. My husband asked it be taken down for the day and was refused rudely. He then threatened to cut it down and finally someone removed it. Up in the bridal room area where we got ready, there was a nail sticking out of the hallway wall which I did not see until it tore my bridal gown walking by after I had had the dress on for less than five minutes. For the actual ceremony, the microphone did not work. This was something they didn’t bother to check beforehand or have batteries on hand to replace. We might have discovered this issue earlier had someone shown up for our rehearsal. Our pastor ended up ditching the mic and just shouting instead. The bar at the reception started charging people for drinks even though we were paying for an open bar. I found out because one of our groomsmen said he left his card at the bar to start a tab. My mother went to talk to them and take care of it, but at that point people had already paid for drinks and it was too much hassle to round them all up for reimbursements. The bar also was serving clearly underage patrons. I realize this is the responsibility of their parents, but some teenagers were taking advantage of the opportunity when no one was looking. I do not appreciate them serving teenagers alcohol at my wedding. We were told that each table at the reception would have eight chairs, but one only had seven because of a pillar in the way, leaving someone awkwardly standing while we tried to find someone for a chair. When we got one, it had to be stuck in the aisle to fit around the pillar. Again, something we should have been told beforehand. Otherwise, the food was good, the grounds were beautiful, there was plenty of parking, my friends and family were wonderful, and we got married. Our wedding was wonderful despite the Seven Seas, not thanks to.

The Seven Seas offers German cuisine and a nice view of the lake. Unfortunately this whole experience falls flat. Let’s breakdown the good and then the bad The Good: — The view from many tables has a great view of the lake. Which ideally would make good atmosphere for a nice dining experience. The Bad: — I am not entirely sure our waiter had the proper training. He didn’t know the specials and didn’t have a real opinion on cuisine. He seemed pretty green. This doesn’t negatively impact my experience. We all had a first day/week/etc. The Ugly: — The Customer Service here is laughable. We dialogued with multiple staff and were typically met with abrupt unsmiling faces. If you are at the hostess stand and communicating with patrons your job is to pretend to be happy, be helpful, etc. Most here looked like they hated their job and the service reflected that. Not only our personal interactions but others as well. I listened in to gripes from tables around me. Specifically a larger group which was crunched at a smaller table not designed for their party number. They were not accommodated even though 90% of the restaurant hadn’t yet been filled. Their waitress was lackluster and seemingly unsympathetic in my opinion. From hostesses, waitresses and everyone in between varying in age ranges I found employees lacking the professionalism that should come with working at a seemingly«nicer» establishment — The Food. This is about as mediocre as it gets. This is the first time in my life I had to season a french onion soup. Something was off about it and I couldn’t put my finger on it. My party was in agreement that the culinary aspect wasn’t anything to talk about here. Most items from appetizers to main entrees were bland. Typically I would be more forgiving here but at the price point of the dishes I expect a little more then subpar. Overall they get 1 star for the view. The staff needs to be trained in basic social interaction and also in restaurant specials. If you live out this way perhaps this seems like fine dining and maybe at one time it was years ago. The world has moved forward and there are a large number of great restaurants out there fueled by passionate chefs and upbeat and caring staff. If you are thinking about going here I would reconsider. There are better restaurants offering similar fare that will offer you a better product and better service. If you live in the area you may have to travel a little but trust me… good food is worth driving for. I don’t like writing negative reviews but this is in hopes that some changes are made. As of now you are just paying for a pretty view and we have plenty of those in this state.

The food was four star, but the service was one or two star, so we’re sticking at a solid three. Was there with a larger group, but it was a Sunday night and they knew well in advance we were coming. Seated in a private area we had two dedicated servers as well as others that came to help. There was a pre-set menu, which all sounded tasty. First off, a woman went around handing out lemons in the water. Not sure why this was done once we sat, as she had a hard time reaching around all of us. Either way, I turned and asked her not to give me one, but she did so anyway. Seemed like she never heard me because she was in her own world, but she was right at my shoulder and I wasn’t quiet. No big deal, pulled the lemon out. We had a trio of apps, a salad, the main course and a dessert. Salad was gorgeous and included pretty cuts of apple. Bread came out with butter and another dish of something. None of the service staff told any of the tables what the other dish was, leaving us to all guess and speculate at it. Main course of pork prime rib which was delicious. Asparagus on the side weren’t my favorite, but were ok. Weissgerber’s serves banana’s foster, which is my absolute favorite thing ever, so I asked if I could substitute that for the offered dessert and was told no problem. The rest of the group had an espresso crème brûlée that was pretty wonderful. Had told one waiter about my dessert and he apparently didn’t tell anyone else. Was served the crème brûlée and promptly handed it to someone else at the table. The next wave of dishes came out and I was served another one. Let it alone. Eventually my bananas foster came out and they were kind of disappointing. Had had them at Golden Mast and enjoyed them thoroughly there, but these tasted like they were never set fire — the alcohol taste was incredibly strong, so I think they never burned it off. It was still pretty tasty, but could have been better. It was not the dish I was hoping it would be. As for the service — sometimes women were served first, sometimes they weren’t. Not a huge deal, except for the time they served all the women but one, went back and served the men and served that woman last. Talk about feeling awkward. Everyone at the table was giggling about it. We had to ask for water multiple times and after still not receiving it, eventually got up and grabbed the pitcher ourselves and served ourselves water. The server came back while we were doing so and chided us for it, which just made it worse. We needed water to finish our meals. You weren’t doing it, so we did it ourselves and now you’re upset we did? Poor, poor situation. Offered coffee to some members of the table, but not others. It just was not a good showing. As far as I’m concerned, you really shouldn’t even note your servers in a situation like this, so the fact that the lingering memories of the meal all revolve around the service do not bode well. The location, however, is absolutely gorgeous. It’s a huge facility and they have multiple service locations and kitchens inside and out.

We came here for Fish Friday AYCE and a large Birthday celebration. Reservations for 25 they put us in 3 tables that were close together. The view of Nagawicka lake is part of the attraction especially for the sunset. we all enjoyed the gentle cool breeze coming off the water and occasional speedboat buzzing by. Parking can be a long distance but this is welcome after a good meal. Don’t forget the overflow parking across the street. Potato salad also got good reviews along with the tartar sauce the batter style fries. The kitchen had difficulties keeping up with the demand I went up 2 of 3 times they were out of both fries, chicken, and one time potato salad. the buffet line came to a crawl due to some of the missing items and was very noticeable when selections were limited. The selections for the fish fry also included baked chicken fried perch and fried cod and baked cod, baked beans, along with wheat bread. The kiddie cocktails were 2.50 each 12.oz. a bit pricey for kids. I wish they had happy hour for the children. Many of the servers and where kids off for the summer. It was a hot day most of the kids were busy doing their jobs and trying to stay cool.
