There is a sign posted on the door saying they decided to go out of business. A shame there food was good.

Great selection of sandwiches and daily soup features. Friendly service. Freshly made food. Great specials. You can’t go wrong.

REALLY good, everything I’ve tried is wonderful. I’m usually there for a take-out lunch, a couple times for dinner but the dinners are not as impressive. Sometimes the younger staff is a bit clueless, and I’ve heard the owners take some tips away from the workers which is a shame. but just reviewing the lunch food, the ambiance, and service, it’s an A. The soups are really great!

This place is fairly decent. Nice, quiet, clean but the food is better than average only. I would say closer to 4 starts but not quite. I would not hesitate coming back!

Delicious. Little pricey but you get what you pay for. Big servings. Expect 20min as it’s made fresh. They are always willing to make modifications for me. Best ranch dressing hands down

I really really love the food and soups here! It can get busy, for lunch or carry out it’s wonderful. Kids menu is perfect, I love that fruit is a side option. It’s not the most pleasant for dinner, it does feel more like a quick in and out lunch place. But I go back for soups and their tuna time and time again.

I think some of these complaints are a little absurd! How can you complain about service when you go at peak eating times? If that’s the case, I guess any busy restaurant has sucky service. A sucky restaurant with bad food that no one likes isn’t going to be busy. Sorry. I live on the West Coast and always make it a point to visit. I love the Lover’s Lane. Get it every time. The sandwich is huge, so you need either a huge appetite or someone who will share. The cheese curds are also a must. One of the best ranch dressings in Southeastern Wisconsin. I’ve been going to this place since they were a rinky-dink shop out in Eagle, and I’ll continue to make the annual pilgrimage. If you’re looking to criticize, I’m sure you can find several reasons why they’re not perfect. But they definitely don’t deserve anything less than three stars and, in my opinion, they don’t deserve less than four.

With a good selection of hot and cold sandwiches and some salads too, this is a nice place for lunch. The Good They have waffle fries. More importantly it tastes like they change their grease often AND know how to deep fry. They have a large selection of kitchily named sandwiches, and there is something there for almost everyone, so it’s good for groups. The Bad Don;t be in a hurry. It looks like they make most of their items to order. And that takes time. If you’re looking for quick, there is a gas station that sells hotdogs nearby. Also, it’s not inexpensive. Sandwich and a soda will run $ 9-$ 11. But you do get a big sandwich, and it could easily be split if you were a lighter eater. The Ugly If it’s busy the parking lot can be a pain and the service can be very slow. It’s better to go just off noon and you’ll probably have a better experience. Overall I recommend giving it a chance… and get the fries, they know how to make them.

Great little sandwich shop with 30 – 40 options. There menu is extensive from chicken or tuna salad to beef or ham or turkey or chicken based sandwiches. It was difficult for me to decide but finally decided on a ham, jack cheese and cranberry chutney sandwich on multi grain bread with a side Caesar salad and a drink. It was around 12 $ for all that. The sandwich was good, an little too much ham but tasty still after I removed a few slices of the deli ham. My friend who took me says they go here often for a quick weekend lunch or dinner and I see why. It easy, with a good selection. Seating is not too plentiful but we didn’t have a problem on a Saturday night. They don’t have iced tea but that is my only complaint.

You won’t find a better sandwich in lake country. I hit this place up at least twice a month, the sandwiches are top notch, the soups can be a little hit or miss, but I did have the BEST corn and shrimp chowder soup of my life here. The décor is dated and pretty much showcases all the fun events the owners must of done.(there is a framed John Cougar Melencamp photo with about a half dozen different ticket stubs) The service is very slow, there always seems to be a bunch of people back in the kitchen, but it takes a long time for your food to come out, but when it does, it was well worth the wait. Not a good place to go when you are in a hurry, but an excellent place to go when you want quality food!

This is my favorite restaurant in the area. The Macon County Line is an outstanding salad, but I’ve never been disappointed with anything else I’ve ordered there either. The set up is super casual, order at the counter and sit, which works really well for a lunch with coworkers. Great place!

Once in a while, the girls and I go here for lunch. The sandwiches and desserts are delicous but other than that, the Back Street Café strikes out. You may ask how it could only get two stars when the sandwiches and desserts are lovely, and that’s a valid concern. Well here goes, the service is meh(although they do offer phone-in ordering), but even if you do call ahead, you’ll wait(and be ignored, perhaps) if you go in at peak lunch times. The other major bummer about this place: the soup is never as good as it sounds. And that really sucks because soup is one of the main ways I survive Wisconsin winters. Take the clam chowder, for example. It’s limp and tinny. The broccoli cheese soup has neither cheese nor broccoli, Seriously, I ordered it and it was cream of onion soup with tiny flecks of green. It was the most disappointing soup experience I can recall in recent history. Yeah, I’ll go again. I’ll phone the order in ahead. And I’ve learned my lesson: I won’t order soup and I won’t go at straight-up noon.
