The food is decent, but not worth the explosive shits I get when I leave. I’m lucky to make it home without sharting. I’m not exaggerating. I can upload a pic

Wood Grill is my favorite buffet! I love all there foods and desserts. It tastes incredible! I usually go there at dinner time with my friends and family. I get so much food, I wish I had a bigger stomach! I love their steak, mashed potatoes, Mac & cheese, shrimp, hot wings, and much more. My favorite dessert is the cookies and cream pie. I can’t wait to go again!

Okay first thing is first this is a buffet so I will compare it to my experience with other buffets at this price range. I gave it four stars because the food area is clean and well stocked. The selection is quite good and the quality of the food including desserts is above average. They have a chocolate fountain which my kids loved! Fresh ripe fruit and the grapes were seedless. Would come back again.

Great alternative to Ryan’s and Golden Corral. Better quality food and many choices. The staff is very pleasant.

I come here all the time and it gets better and better each time. They have a large array of food such as spaghetti, macaroni, salad, mashed potatoes and many more. The wake for a table is long and the prices are high, but when you get the gold, it’ll all be worth it.

I was actually really surprised at the quality on this buffet. I really wasn’t expecting that at all. We went for breakfast, and everything was just fantastic. Country fried steak, biscuits and gravy, huge Belgium waffles, and so much more that I don’t even recall it all. I do know that I had no complaints about anything. Will definitely be hitting this place again in the near future.

These kind of establishments are normally not my scene,(buffets, human troughs), but this place was fine,(my lunch companions really enjoyed it). They offer a huge variety of entrees, sides and desserts. The service is very friendly. Be warned though, if you visit during the peak hours, be prepared for a wait and dine in a madhouse! Arrive hungry as it costs about $ 15.00 a head.

FYI, this is not a mom and pop buffet — the actual name is «Western Sizzlin’s Wood Grill Buffet» which kind of scared me off a bit. But nothing to fear — this is chain buffet-eating at its best — exactly like Golden Corral but actually good. I knew something was different about this place when the salad plates were stored in a cooler(having to use a hot plate for my salad has always been a pet peeve of mine). The seafood salad, which has pretty much tasted the same everywhere every time I’ve ever had it, was simply way more flavorful than I’ve ever had. The chicken salad was great. Vegetables on the salad bar were fresh and crisp. They had stuff like fried green tomatoes and crab cakes(!) that I haven’t seen before on a buffet. Entrees like fried chicken and ribs were above average. But the real show-stopper was the steak — it was a bit on the salty side but super-flavorful, tender and there was actually a little pink in the middle — I don’t think I’ve ever seen a steak on a buffet actually cooked to anything other than well-done. The only dish that wasn’t so great was the fried chicken livers — a little dry and old-tasting, but still edible. We liked the place so much that we went back for breakfast a few days later. The breakfast buffet at $ 10 was a bit pricey but everything was excellent. Eggs benedict and freshly made(?) donuts were the highlights. Oh — and unlike Golden Corral, you actually pay at the end of the meal instead of the beginning, which is nice b/c I always forget to keep cash around for the tip — here you can simply add it to your bill which is super-convenient. All in all, if you like buffets, you can’t go wrong with this one!

A decent variety of food for the price! Just your absolutely average large buffet spot food, but with decent inside décor. The restaurant is rather big, and has a nice open atmosphere, which made it a lot nicer then other buffets I have seen at this caliber. Aside from what you can get on the buffets lines, everyone that eats there gets their choices of a baked regular or sweet potato served to them by their waitress. Sweet potato was awesome, and it came with fixings. Cute idea!

The food was pretty good, but most of what i ate treated like it had been out for awhile. Other than that it was good. The service was nice. Honestly the only real issue for me was price. $ 15 seems high to me for food staples i can find any where. Still I’ll probably be back.

Love, love, love Wood Grill! The salad bar is always so fresh, green, & delicious. The food is always hot & tasty! The restaurant itself gets 5 stars, but our waiters never seem to have much of a personality or seem to be very friendly. The food is what keeps us coming back!

The reviews for this place are baffling. I don’t mind places like Golden Corral and Old Country Buffet, and this place is basically the exact same as those, so it made me happy. But I dragged my girlfriend here because so many people that said they don’t normally like buffets thought this place was great. Greasy-ass room temperature food is the only thing you’ll find here — if you don’t want that, seriously ignore the rest of the reviews and don’t stop here.

A heavenly place indeed! Do NOT go here if you are on a diet, a diabetic, or need portion control. You will fail. EAT: Everything except breast chicken(dry) and the salad(looks good. that’s about it). Other than that, wear loose clothing cuz it’s going down.

Nothing bad to say about this buffet. The price was about $ 15 for an adult and $ 10 for a child during Tuesday night’s dinner. There was a great variety and several options. The Red Velvet was one of the best I’ve had.

We stopped in here on vacation, and it was ridiculously delicious! My only wish would have been an auxiliary stomach because I wanted to try more food. My family has Southern roots, and I grew up on vegetables cooked in butter until all of their nutritional good is probably void. I felt right at home with the vegetables on the buffet — the spinach was worth getting seconds, green beans were fantastic, and the mushrooms were also worth getting a second helping. The banana pudding tasted almost like my grandma’s homemade recipe. I went into the experience skeptical because I’m not a huge buffet fan, and my husband was the one picking dinner that night. But, I’m glad that I let him pick. It was tempting to go back the next night, but I’m not sure I could have handled that much calorie overload.

Stopped in here while on vacation with my mom and baby. For the price($ 9.49 lunch per person, plus drinks, & tax & tip= about $ 15) this was an awesome buffet. There’s a grill/sizzle station with ribs, grilled chicken, other meat, make your own taco station, burritos etc. then there’s a mother two hot food stations with lots of sides– various veggies, Mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, fries, etc. a salad bar avid second mixed salads; egg salad, tuna salad, crab salad etc. and a dessert station with pies, cookies, cupcakes, and a chocolate fountain to dip fruit, graham crackers, etc. I’m not a fan of buffets but this one was good. I really appreciate the fresh fruit and salad bar and various vegetable options. Service was also friendly and accommodating.

Excellent food! Everything we tasted was superb from the tender steak to the fresh extensive salad bar! I had to hold myself back at the dessert bar, but the lemon meringue pie was the perfect finish. I’m not usually attracted to buffets as most are cheaper food with marginal quality. This was a pleasant exception. Thanks to reviews on Unilocal we tried it.

Looks like a great place from the outside of the building. Once in side they do not disappoint. Tons of great food for a small price. Where else can you get unlimited food and drink for around $ 15? Lots of food stations, all types of foods. From friend to steamed. Tons of desserts. Located up the street from JMU you can imagine this place is loaded with students. The servers are very attentive, the place is clean and they keep the bathrooms clean which I feel is an important barometer of how«healthy» and safe a food service business is these days. If you are in town I suggest stopping there for a meal. You will not be disappointed.

Pictures do NOT do this place any justice. One just has to make it here for breakfast! We arrived around 10:30AM. This place has everything from fresh HOT donuts, pancakes, waffles, French toast, STEAK(hence a Western Sizzlin spin off), fried green tomatoes, chicken tenders, creamed chipped beef, sausage gravy, omelette station, grits, fruit, full ice cream station… list goes on! Service was superb! Drinks were always filled. Affordable and so much better than any breakfast buffet I’ve been to in years. I do hope one pops up in the 757 one day soon.
