Boo Finnegan’s. Booooooooooooooooo! Wow, where to begin? The décor is downright terrible, it looks like it belongs in the bedroom of a three year old who likes fish. The food is meh. Better than I thought, but still not good enough. It’s kinda like a half biker bar half family restaurant type deal. I’m not down with that cause. They allow smoking and have not one, but two separate bowling games. Absolute lunacy. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Boo Finnegan’s. Boooooooooooooooooo!

Really impressed with the taste and quality of the seafood here, and the price isn’t bad either! The crab cakes are delicious and the steamed shrimp on special(1 lb for $ 13.99 after 4pm on Fridays and Saturdays) is a great deal. I just really, really wish smoking wasn’t allowed inside, or that there was an alternative entrance that didn’t involve walking through a smoky haze to get to your table in the back.

Just went yesterday. I’m a foodie and would not patronize again. This place is 2 stars at best. More like your neighborhood bar. The highs: parking was easy and our waiter was a nice guy. The lows: The menu was diverse so it sounded good but when it was actually brought out, it wasn’t what any of us expected. We had a group of 15 and none of our food came out together. We had to ask for the same things multiple times(samples, appetizers, the wrong side brought out with our meals and some of us never got the right side), the salad bar was a joke, and my fiancé’s cranberry and vodka came in a juice class with an alleged shot of vodka but tasted like straight cranberry juice. Our bill was a little over $ 50 and we had a terrible experience. Save your money on this place.

Female bartenders lean over and show their cleavage, takes forever to get waited on, and haven’t been back in months. The male employees are more respectable. I waitressed when I was 19 and we had a dress code. This place is known for fights in the bar. My first time there a girl was slammed over the head with a glass beer mug.

This place is sad to me because the food is really good but it seems they are more interested in being a smoke-filled bar than a seafood restaurant and its a shame because there really are not many(if any) places to get good seafood in Hburg. They have a ‘non-smoking’ section way in the back but I literally had to plug my nose getting there and every time the door opened in the back room the smoke smell would come in like a rebel force! Plus you feel totally isolated back there like you’re in time out because you dont smoke. The staff was nice and the food was good but I will only order it to go if I cant live without seafood.

Bartenders are rude with terrible attitudes. They pay more attention to their friends then the customers. It’s great that you can smoke cigarettes in there but there isn’t proper ventilation because it’s just a giant cloud of smoke. Food is okay. Very noisy at night time.

Harrisonburg is my hometown and Finnigan’s has always been my favorite bar. It’s definitely a hole in the wall, but has great service, awesome wings and seafood, and always ice cold beer. One of me and my friends favorite spots. Everytime I go home to VA for a visit, we always plan a night at Finn’s.

This place seemed to be the only place in Harrisonburg that had raw oysters where you didn’t need a reservation, so my boyfriend popped in here for dinner. The reviews were right — this place is divey — the front room is for smoking and the non-smoking section is in the back of the joint, seemingly tucked away from human contact. The best thing about this place was the oysters — they weren’t bad and were cheap, but also weren’t cleaned properly. We also got the fried crab cake balls — don’t let your imagination run wild with this one. They were literally, fried crab cake balls, yet were room temperature when they came out. My thought is that they might have been frozen. For entrees, I ordered the Scallops in Gouda Cream Sauce w/a side of she-crab soup and baked potato. The scallops were large and plump, but they were served in a trench and swimming in the sauce! There was more sauce than scallop — I can’t believe that people actually eat their food like that. My boyfriend ordered the seafood jambalaya. It was a HUGE portion — so huge that he could only eat half. However, although the jambalaya was cooked spicy as he requested, it lacked all other flavors. The sauce was way too tomato based and lacked seasoning. oh, and the salad bar is kind of scary looking. beware. The saddest part of all, is that the seafood itself was pretty good quality. The scallops in both of our dishes were huge and cooked nicely. The jambalaya was packed with scallop and shrimp. As I mentioned before, the oysters weren’t too shabby for the price. I think that Finnigan’s could really turn things around if they re-vamped their menu. Our waitress was also really sweet; however, I’m not sure if that’s enough to make me want to come back for anything other than their happy hours specials($ 3.40 for rail drinks from 4 – 9. whoo!)

You have to try their Baked Potato Appetizers! They are out of this world! All the food I’ve tried there is great and the staff is always friendly.

As another reviewer mentioned, Finnigans Cove is kind of a divey place but, don’t let that keep you away. We dropped in for lunch one afternoon and with the exception of the divey décor, we were happy to be there. The food was good and the service was too. We asked to be seated in the non-smoking section and although you kinda gotta walk through the kitchen to get there, it wasn’t crowded or noisy.

Fins seems to be the place you crawl to after all the other bars have thrown you out on the street where you belong. It’s dark, dingy and smoky inside. Hopefully, someone is willing to fork over some coin to get the jukebox kicking. The bar plays host to regulars mostly, and — by implication and circumstance — they’re generally of the alcoholic persuasion. Prove me wrong. But in all fairness, for an establishment hundreds of miles from the ocean, Fins generally serves above average seafood. Their hushpuppies shouldn’t be missed and the drinks seem cheap enough to keep repeat business. So if you find yourself with a group of drinkers absent a watering hole, head on down. But don’t come looking for much more than a good time with whatever party you came in with. Because Fins still has a long way to go.

The raw bar is the seafood. Not much else is actually seafood. Seafood carbonara had shrimp with the tails still on, so had to pick them out in order to eat. The oysters were sizeable and good.

I’m not big on seafood so I haven’t eaten here much. I mostly just go for the bar, but I’m not sure why. The place smells of a combination of cigarette smoke and urine. The last time I went, I ordered steamed shimp which were full of sand. The bartender didn’t believe me but grudgingly comp’d them. The place gets crowded on weekends when the students are in town, and a good time can be had, as long as you’re with good company.

Your run-of-the-mill bar. I didn’t eat here only had a few drinks…
