If you want a relaxing lunch downtown, Earth and Tea Café is a good choice. They have a massive selection of teas and I highly recommend the Cuban sandwich. This is a great place to take your time and unwind a bit. Service can be a bit slow but with having to mix and brew several pots of tea at a time, I can’t fault them too much for that. Juan is ridiculously friendly, giving great service and making you feel comfortable. It’s easy to tell that the people working there really like what they do and if you can catch them open(sadly no evening hours) you’ll have wonderful service, great food and some great tea.

Love the calming atmosphere and the amazing tea! Would definitely recommend as a way to relieve the stresses of being a student or everyday life. It’s nice to find a calm quiet place to drink tea and chat with good friends instead of the usual routine of alcohol etc. I wouldn’t recommend the cookies they are hard ans gross, but I have had one slice of cake and it was pretty good. Their strongest product(as it should be for a tea place) is hands down the quality AND variety of teas they sell. From Asia to the middle east it’s a global experience from the usual English tea.

The food took forever. Way too expensive. And our food was cold. Not cool. Would not go back. Don’t really recommend it.

We had a terrible experience this morning for brunch. Here is our overall time line-arrived at 11:00a, sat at 11:10a, our order was taken at 11:30a, coffee served at 11:45a, ANDFOODSERVEDAT1:00p!!! When we arrived there were people clustered around the front door inside. Most tables were full but there were some that were empty but covered in dirty dishes. We asked the folks ahead of us of they were waiting and they said nobody had come to ask them yet. After a few minutes my husband approached an employee and she asked us to wait by a dirty table. After about 10 minutes it was cleaned and we sat. My husband then got up to ask for menus. After ordering, we waited an hour and a half for our food. Our waitress did not come back after giving us coffee until we asked for refills. When the food finally came, my eggs were hard and rubbery and my son’s bacon was cold. As she sat the food down, the waitress said, «Finally, right? Sorry.» The pancakes and French toast were good but nothing was worth the ridiculous wait and the terrible service. The best part was striking up a conversation with the other diners about how they had waited an hour and a half for there food as well. I wanted my day and my money. Unforgivable.

Café and TeaHouse Lounge ! The Décor in here is very LaidBack Love and relaxy! So, um, yeah we were the ONLY Non-collegeAge people in here though my Bride(Ms. eBayBride Mountains of VA) passes for a College Student on a Daily! Today the Crowd was VERY Masculine including a table of six guys with skateboards! OK one of my Best friends Skates and loves Tea so is that a stretch? Anyway, there were twice as Men as women here and I’m glad to see it! Lookalota Yes! Mayan Cocoa TEA listen to me, Baby Please, on a daily, was my Choice! Six Unilocal Stars! Wait, back to the beginning = the recipe sounded soooo Goood!!! I had something Totally different in mind and what I imagined could probably not out do what I actually got! When I poured the Tea I was VERY Skeptical because it looked so tea-y! Then I put it to the MaggieKnowsNOSE Test = Oh +OHHH and Oh if it could ONLY taste as good as it smells, it Could, it DID, it DOES! Yes! My Bribe got Masala Chai Better than many of the Indian Restaurants! Made with LOVE! We got Spanish Lentils as a snack! They were plenty good and not so spicy to interrupt the flavors of the teas!

Juan & staff are fantastic! Such a warm welcome & a great menu for this New England Herbalist to gush over(vervain & marshmallow leaf in the swiss tea!).

Such a cute place Downtown! They have loose teas for only $ 5 as well as a buy one get second one half off. I decided to try their Cuban coffee before hitting the road and it was delicious. They have a variety of food and fresh pastries. The décor is so adorable. There’s tapestries all over the walls and tea cups and all that good stuff. It’s very zen. There were two people helping me and I assume one was the owner — both people were kind and helpful. Only $ 2 for a Cuban coffee? Yes please!

Found this gem of a tea house while looking at James Madison University for our child. This is the kind of place you hope for in a college town. Middle-Eastern décor and a eclectic menu with international influences. Owners are so nice and accomadating. Food made fresh to oder, so do not be in a rush. 42 teas to choose from, or try the Caffè con leche, Cubano or Turkish coffee. Princess cake was an excellent ending to our meal. See attached photos of what we had. Didn’t get a chance to photograph the cuban sandwhich before it was devoured.

What a great spot downtown. I wish I had discovered this sooner as my daughter just finished at JMU. Marcela and Juan are two of the nicest people I have ever met. They take such great pride in their business, food and customers. I had such a good experience at their restaurant that I was there 3 times in two days for their coffee and cookies! I will definitely go back the next time I am in Harrisonburg!

I been going to this restaurant many years. I love seafood and fish and vegie. I wasn’t ones disappointed in quality of the food I ordered. I also think they have best soups in town, just recently find out they daily made by recipe from fresh food. To my taste soups always perfectly salted, I never was in need to drink gallons of water after soups from Earth and Tea Café. I enjoy being there with friends or alone. Even on busy day the noise in not overpowering. If I am by myself there is plenty interesting decorations to look at. I had been served by owner and his staff. Even when owner wasn’t there the service was very good. They always pay attention to guests, I love to be welcomed with smile and get help when I need it not every 5 min, and they really good about that.

Was in Harrisonburg, VA for a few hours and found this little café for lunch. Great sandwiches, salads and teas. Unfortunately the tea that I had was unavailable for purchase otherwise I would have bought some to take home. We also ordered the princess cake for dessert. While it was good it sounded better on the menu. Great atmosphere.

Ever walk into a place and just know right away that it was a mistake? Well we definitely got that vibe here. The décor was a weird sloppy mixture of arabic looking pieces picked up from Pier One and random blankets strewn about to mimic some sort of «ethnic» theme. The outside menus seemed promising until we went inside and realized how much higher the prices had become. $ 10 for a veggie wrap with chips(«slice apple add $ 1) of questionable size… No thanks. The menu itself seemed to border on Mediterranean-TexMex-and Asian fusion… confusing and didn’t fit with the décor. so we opted for a dessert and drink to go since we needed to use the bathroom and felt guilty doing so without paying for something. The desserts(a caramel coffee cake and chocolate ice cream bomb) seemed pre made. Other options on the menu that seemed promising were not available. The cake was dry and stale tasting and the chocolate ice cream dessert was just«ok.» Basically chocolate and vanilla ice cream covered in Magic Shell. Next up that didn’t make any sense was the loose-leaf tea selection… they seem to be all about their teas yet most of them listed«flavoring» and none were organic or fair trade. Two desserts and two teas to go was $ 20. Wow. My advice to you is to completely rebrand. Source quality fair trade organic teas. Stick with a theme. Get an interior decorator. Tell your staff to smile and greet customers warmly.

Driving to deep creek lake, stumbled upon harrisonburg, such a cute town we walked to Earth & tea. A coffee and tea shop enthusiast I was eager to try it out. The décor is very Asian zen with tasteful Arabian accents by the sofa seating area. The owner was great we had two sandwiches and a pot of Masala chai the chai was really great. Overall it’s a great place to relax and take In the great décor.

Very dark place. Not sure if as the day goes on they’ll turn on more lights, but we were in there at 11 a.m. and it was quite dark. It almost feels like it’s trying to set the wrong ambiance. We were early for a meeting so just stopped in for something to drink. I got an iced green tea and my coworker got a mocha chocolate tea. The menu has an extensive tea selection. We didn’t have that much time and perhaps due to that felt the service was very slow. We had to go up to the counter to order, then go up again to ask for the check, and lastly having done enough waiting just walked up to pay also. Two teas cost $ 6. Not cheap.

Unreliable but enjoyable if open: They never open on time(but always claim they did!) but as long as you don’t need them before 11:20 am or so it can be a pleasant place to hang out and have some tea. Just don’t ever schedule a morning meeting there – can’t tell you how often I have had to move to Shank’s because they were not open 15 minutes after their posted opening time. I have been fooled enough – I will only go in the afternoon.

Entered this quirky little café for a late lunch. The place was nearly full with women and children. The décor is something you might think would be found in a teahouse in the middle east, with the exception of the booths and tables. The food menu had a slightly latin bend to it filled with wraps, sandwiches, soups and salads. The tea menu was nearly as extensive. I ordered a small pot of the The Eight Treasures of the Shaolin, which had great flavor and served four cups. My wife and I also ordered a soup(Spanish lentil and Brazilian Chicken Coconut Soup), while my wife had an order of beef empanadas and I a Cubano. The food was all very good! The reason for 4 stars? Although the 2 ladies working the front were pleasant, the service got off to a really slow start. That said, we most definitely would frequent this quaint little place again!

Randomly stumbled across this place on a road trip, we thought Harrisonburg would be a great place to stop for lunch. My vegetarian husband was thinking he would have to go to Subway and just get a veggie sub, because it can be difficult finding options for him on the road. Low and behold, along came Earth and Tea Café. Lots and lots of vegetarian options. We went with the Portobello mushroom panini and a black bean wrap. The panini was melt in your mouth fantastic, lots of cheese and I love mushrooms. It was just perfect. The black bean wrap was served cold, but I felt like I was being super healthy with my choice. It was also done well, just didn’t satisfy my hunger as much. The staff was very nice. It did take a little on the longer side for our food to come out, but the atmosphere is so nice and relaxing we didn’t mind. Great selection of teas, which I didn’t try.

Earth and Tea Kills the Sandwich and Murders Customer Service! After waiting 40 min after my order was taken(no exaggeration) I was served the single worst sandwich ever made in America. I just wish I taken a pic to share with you of how historically pathetic this sandwich was. But, I was stunned. The«MediaNoche» Cuban sandwich, a popular cuban recipe is interpreted by Earth and Tea as 3.2 meager poker chip sized, dry-as-bone-slivers of barely identifiable ‘ham’, burned black — with pickle. Yes, seriously — They literally burned the ‘ham’ black over 90% of the ‘ham’ surface. Unless the ‘ham’ was actually cooked shoe? This shameful, meager ‘ham’ sandwich was prepared without care or skill by ‘some dude’ in their state of the art hot-plate-closet-sized-dirty-hole in the wall ‘kitchen’ — with a complimentary side of millennial disdain and free crappy attitude. Earth and Tea Café = Hipster Arm Pit. So, skipping this joint and picking up any sandwich out of the cooler at any 7⁄11 would be a better dining experience, more nutritious, better tasting and it would likely be served to you by nicer people.
