Not busy at all today around 3:30pm. Was greeted right away by a friendly server and took outside seating. Ground is mulch and unfortunately littered with pieces of trash. Ordered the cheeseburger that came with slaw and potato chips. Burger and slaw were meh — no flavor whatsoever. Burger texture was hard and not juicy at all which made me think it was a frozen patty and use of poor quality beef. This place could be a whole lot more food wise as its a great setting and in a touristy area. 2.5 stars

Crappy service. We had three adults at the bar having beers and appetizers then our children came in to wait for us… were not taking up stools, just sitting on the ledge. The bartender who was non attentive and and was fighting with his coworkers then proceeded to charge us a 18% tip — assuming that he was counting the kids as a large party but there was no explanation and of course no notice about large parties on the menu. Guy trying to rip people off — asshat. The best part is that I would have actually tipped him more than 18% not because he was good but rather because I waited tables for a long time. Stay away because he isn’t a good bartender(he brought us one of our requested items as we were walking out of the door), is unprofessional(fighting with coworkers) and overcharges people to pad his own pockets.

Well this is my first 1-star review! My GF and I walked in here after a long hike and just wanted to relax with a beer and a burger. We don’t ask for much. So we went in and were told by a waitress that we could sit anywhere. We went downstairs and grabbed a table. There were about 3 or 4 tables full of patrons and another couple empty ones that hadn’t been bussed at all. No big deal. But then about 10 minutes went by and we hadn’t seen anyone come down to deal with any of the mess or to wait on the others in the room. So we waited. After another few minutes my GF went up to a staff member and asked if we could get someone to help out. He said«well, we’re pretty busy, but there’s another good restaurant down the street». Okaaaaay. Bye forever.

I worked in restaurants for years, so I am fairly inured to a little dirt here and there. But everything here was dirty. Tables remained unbussed for tens of minutes, while flies lit on the food remains. We stood next to a dirty table hoping someone would clear it for us, but no one paid attention, so we sat at the bar. The bartender was friendly, but we were allowed to sit in other people’s crumbs and the space was never wiped for us. I did it myself. My wine came out in a dirty glass. I didn’t send it back because that kind of dirt comes from a poorly run dishwasher(dirty trap), so I’m sure it wouldn’t have improved on a second pass. I wiped the glass with a napkin soaked in wine and let the alcohol sanitize the rest. Other than fishing a suicidal fly out of it, the experience was pleasant. The pour was generous, so the experience improved over time. We didn’t eat here. The food smelled good and other patrons appeared to be enjoying it, but we weren’t hungry enough to eat off of dirty plates.

Visiting the National Park, you will find some small business restaurants. Coach House will serve you fresh, delicious food. I ordered the portabello mushroom, vegetable wrap and surprisingly, it tasted good. Interesting town — a must see to visit.

Server was very friendly and responsive. The food was very good– both the«grown up» grilled cheese and portabella mozzarella wrap tasted great. The ambiance is a bit schizophrenic –teetering between a restaurant with wine selections/tasty dishes and a beer/sports bar. Also, many of the starters are priced high/equal to main food dishes. Still, I would very much recommend this spot if you are unsure about other options in a small town(like the Towns Inn, which is horrible).

We were heading up the hill to Potomac Grille but my husband thought it was the place that burned down-he was wrong, it’s next to it. So we stopped here and ate despite the low ratings. Everyone was right on. The service is good but everything else is average. Hamburger was over cooked and dried out. Spinach & artichoke dip was ok, not the best. Sangria was drinkable but I can make it better. The coleslaw was tasteless, as others have written. They should just pick up some slaws from Costco and serve it. Many beer were out, not a good sign when it’s a holiday weekend. If you have no other options, take a seat outside on the upper deck area with umbrellas, it’s better than the seats below with everyone else.

Great Service, Great Food, Great Prices. If you love local beer, they carry local beer. The only part people might not like is the place is seat yourself. Some people walk in and walk out because they don’t know what is going on.

Great, friendly service! After a long hike, sitting on the outdoor patio under some shade was just what we needed. Spinach and artichoke dip was pretty good and seemed to have been made in house. Adult grilled cheese was a winner. Portobello wrap was OK. Server was excellent.

After a kayaking day trip at River Riders not far away, two friends and I found Coach House on Unilocal and came(ravenously) for a late lunch. It’s in the middle of historic Harpers Ferry, which, for the record, looks like a movie set from the 1800s. Really interesting place. Parking around there is pretty terrible considering how much space there is in the town, and we drove up and down the road for over ten minutes looking for a spot. When you walk up, you notice that there is ample outdoor seating. If you proceed inside the first door, you find yourself awkwardly inside a dark, somewhat dusty room. There is a smaller dining area downstairs and then another one(that was STEAMING hot – I don’t think the A/C was working) upstairs. We looked around for a few minutes in an attempt to find a host/ess. An older couple came in and asked if we knew how one could get seated, which we didn’t, but eventually a waitress came by and said that you can sit wherever you like and that someone will come to you. This was actually pretty confusing to everyone who walked in, so the restaurant could benefit from signage or something explaining this, especially since there are three floors of dining space. We seated ourselves outside and flagged down a waitress… a few times… until we were able to have our orders taken. Things went uphill from here as we glanced at a surprisingly diverse menu. We were pleased to see hummus and baba ghanoush, one with other international items, on the menu of what on its face is an old-style, out West spread of typical American fare. The hummus was done brilliantly, with hints of smoked paprika and red pepper that balanced well with the olive oil. I was also happy with the sangria, which flaunted fresh blueberries, strawberry pieces, and an orange slice(the blueberries were a nice twist). The three of us had burgers of various types, all of which were quite good. On the whole, Coach House was a nice addition to a nice day. Service was somewhat lackluster but the waitress was sweet, and the food was solid. This is a 3.5 review but they tipped the scale over to four stars. Nice job!

Horrible! Never again, we’ll give our money to the other locals that accept Amex, know the difference between Baltimore beer and local beer, and have air conditioning! The food was OK, but it was just so miserable inside we just couldn’t stick around for more than a quick bite. Invest in the AC and educate the staff on the beer selection, and we’d give this place a much higher rating.

We stopped by today while on vacation and we were very thankful to be able to find a pet-friendly restaurant fairly quickly in Harpers Ferry. Right off the bat, the hostess was very courteous about it when we entered and our wonderful waitress, Christiana, immediately asked us if we would like a dog bowl for him. It was so hot and humid out, we very much appreciated it. Christiana provided us with non-stop excellent service. I ordered the crabcake sandwich which was delicious! Others at my table ordered burgers which they also enjoyed as well. Next time we travel out to Harpers Ferry — we will be coming back!

Local beer — wow– you have to try the Mountain State beer– delish Lots of veggie options– I loved that– the baked brie was fantastic Great service Outdoor seating which was great– the town is very hilly and we had someone on crutches with a handicap– the handicap parking was right there in the rear and so was the outdoor seating so it worked out wonderfully. Good place to chill and eat!

Got the burger and fries. The waitress asked us all if we would like fires instead of chips and we saiid yes. It took forever to get our order we were a small group. But the worst was when we got our bill she had added $ 2.50 extra for fries on each order. She did not even let us know it was an extra charge she made it sound like it was a substitute for chips. Slow and terrible service. Will be going to a different place after our hike next time.

Really cool restaurant on the narrow historic streets of Harper’s ferry. Friendly service. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating which is nice. The building looks like an old house on a hill. The food is typical American burgers and wraps but they are delicious. They have a bucket of five craft beers of your choice for $ 22 and have several local favorites including Duclaw from Baltimore

Very disappointing experience for lunch. Waited 35min to receive our orders on a slow weekday lunch. Server didn’t know specials & didn’t seem to care either. Kitchen staff was processing order very slowly and was more concerned about discussing personal lives than preparing our order. Ordered soup & waiter forget to bring it out, but somehow managed to still charge me for it! Then, none of the staff knew how to remove soup charge from my bill. Food quality was average and portions small for the price. Will not return and will certainly not recommend to others.

You can get a bucket of 5 local craft beers for $ 22, and enjoy it in their lovely outdoor seating area under the patio umbrellas. Two of us split the«grown-up grilled cheese» and spinach and strawberry salad. It was the perfect combination of healthy yet decadent!

Meh. We rolled in here on a hot Sunday afternoon while visiting town. The place didn’t even have its AC on; but fortunately the fans ensured a reasonable temperature on the premise. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and snacks while catching the second half of the World Cup final. I had the sangria and a turkey panini. The sangria obviously didn’t have any of the«fresh fruits» as advertised on the menu. Some pieces of lemon, lime, and orange were thrown in there — notice how all the above are common bar fruits for garnishing cocktails and beer, or even water. The drink itself also tasted pretty stale. The panini was okay, but for $ 10 I could get better. The only redeeming qualities of Coach House may be its location and our friendly bartender.

Friendly and very casual place. Seemed like a good place for burger or sandwiches. We were quite hungry so just chose a place close by. Wedge salad was OK but not worth $ 10. There are outdoor tables too. Nothing out of ordinary but a good place to take a break for lunch or drink after/before hiking/strolling around the area
