After a day of physical activity, we were like«okay just pick ANYWHERE to eat» and every place kind of looked the same to me, so we picked here. Great Choice! We sat out on the big shady porch on a sunny day and he got a Reuben, and I got crab cake caesar. Both were divine! I was expect dicey, regular old food but the crab was huge and pure crab, no filler. The reuben(I wash envious) had a potato cake on it, as well as all the normal toppings. Instead of sauerkraut, it was a fresh coleslaw that really lightened it up. The prices were normal, but the food was great! Happy customers. Cute old building too, if you get the chance to wander around inside.

Wish I had eaten somewhere else. Two stars for being clean and wait staff was nice to us. However as we were leaving she was spied eating some fries off a platter she was carrying. And I don’t know why she would eat them anyway because the ones that came with my fish and chips tasted like they were left overs from other plates earlier in the day. No One can convince me that those fries were cooked fresh. 3 hours ago maybe. Longer? Most definitely. Fish was flavorless and not fresh. Also got an average size pepperoni pizza. That really would have been good honestly if the dough was cooked through. It was soggy.

We stopped off at Private Quinn’s Pub after an afternoon of tubing in the Shenandoah, and while it helped us get over our sugar crash, I’m not sure it was worth the price. The place was established in 2010(so the sign said), but the whole design in the interior is straight out of the 18th century, which, honestly, isn’t quite as charming as it sounds. The tables had drab, uncomfortable benches without backs, and the doorway the staircase went through was way too low — I had to bend my head down substantially to get through the doorway, and I’m only 6′. Parking was difficult, and the service also wasn’t great: Our server seemed to really hate being there that day, and wasn’t terribly attentive to keeping our drinks refilled. I wouldn’t say she was rude, though. The crab cake sandwich I had was good, but my girlfriend’s fish and chips was only alright. She seemed to like it, but when i sampled it, it wasn’t quite on par with the other fish and chips I’ve had. Both came with coleslaw, which was amazing, but the fries that came with the fish and chips were terrible. The onion rings we got as an appetizer were great, though — crunchy, golden brown, and served with a great sauce. My end, which included the crab cake sandwich, and iced tea, and the onion rings came up to almost $ 30 with tip, which for the food and environment seemed a bit excessive. While the crab cakes were tasty, they weren’t *that* tasty. When we go back to the area, I imagine we’ll give one of the other restaurants a try.

Great job with the Reuben — gooey cheese, great bread, slaw and corned beef. The fish & chips were awesome — crisp & fresh. The onion rings were also fresh and crisp with a light batter. Yum yum

This place was pretty darn awful. First off, the restaurant is cramped and dirty. And service is just bad. We had stopped in expecting to eat a fairly quick lunch and get on with our day in Harper’s Ferry. Since most of the menu items are just sandwiches, that’s not an unreasonable expectation I don’t think. But we were there for an hour and a half or more. Our server was a very grungy looking middle-aged man, who was friendly, but seemed at a loss for how to multi-task or expedite. Not great qualities in a server. If that was the only problem, it would have been okay. But the food was AWFUL. I wasn’t very hungry, so I just got the beer cheese dip appetizer. This cost me 8.95. 8.95 got me a little side dish of watery, absolutely tasteless«beer cheese», which by the time it got to me, had glazed over and looked like, well, mucus. It was also lukewarm. On the side were the homemade potato chips, which were greasy, and some were crunchy, but most were chewy and woefully undercooked. Also cold. 8.95!!! For a horrible appetizer! It was barely edible, I couldn’t finish it. I was furious, but I am not the type to flip out on a server or demand my money back and cause a scene. I just can’t do it, I didn’t want to embarrass my friends. Instead, I will warn the good people of Unilocal to steer clear of Private Quinn’s Pub, and will personally never go there again. No one else at my table was very happy with their food, and we were all surprised at the lack-luster quality of everything, especially considering how much money we were forking over for a few sandwiches and appetizers. We were all excited about the prospect of «Irish Pub Food» as a sign outside read, but this is not that. I don’t think you should be able to call yourself an Irish place if you don’t even have Guinness on tap and you screw up a simple potato chip.

Ridiculously overpriced and food is awful! Irish nachos came out with unmelted shredded cheese(is it that hard to microwave the plate for 10 seconds??!), fish and chips were DISGUSTING. Do yourself a favor and go ANYWHERE else but this filthy restaurant with steakhouse prices.

After a morning hike in Harper’s Ferry, we stopped in here to grab some lunch. I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich that came on a pretzel bun. While the chicken was good, it was smothered in too much sauce. I also wish it was served with ranch or something similar to offset the spiciness of the hot sauce. My friends ordered some different sandwiches, which were all served on pretzel buns. Everyone agreed that the pretzel buns were a miss. They were too hard and the pretzel flavor doesn’t really compliment many sandwiches. Service was friendly and prompt.

Came here to grab a quick bite on a Sunday in Harpers ferry. Ordered an 11 dollar ruben that wasn’t anything out of this world, my boyfriend got a club sandwich that had the foods packaging stuck onto it still. I would hope the chefs would of seen that when washing the food so perhaps they didn’t before using it? The building itself is quite cramped, not recommended for those who have troubles with stairs. And if you’re looking for a quick bite don’t expect to be in and out even on a pretty empty day. The place was pretty cluttered but seemed clean enough, maybe they just need to find more storage, but sitting at the bar you can see there months supply of TP and Napkins and cleaners and all there spare tableware, napkin holders, etc. Overall they have local brews on tap to try and their fries were delicious and crispy so thats a bonus, but 11 – 14 dollars for their quality sandwiches makes you feel you’re getting robbed.

On my girlfriend and my way to Charlestown WV, we had both gotten hangry along the way and decided to stop at historic harpers ferry for a bit of lunch. I had looked on Unilocal on the way over to check out some reputable and interesting venues, I decided on Pvt. Quinn’s pub. When we arrived it was a quaint spot with a cozy setting. When we got to the bar at the top of the restaurant, we were greeted immediately and looked at a menu for a while to decide on our lunch. After our orders were taken, it seemed like a good 35 minutes before it was brought to our table, but it could have been due to a sizable group in the main area. Only Qualm — my chicken club sandwich had a sticker on the tomato. Kind of turned me off of the sandwich and I questioned their kitchen cleanliness… Staff was not very engaged with customers, as well. Pros– a charming historic building, If that counts?

Sign read Best Rueben in Town… I ask«how many restaurants could there be in this small town specializing in Rueben Sandwiches? We opted to check it out and see for ourself. So glad we did, it was fabulous!!! French fries could use some help… But the Rueben lived up to my expectations. Cheers!

Terrible service, awful food, dirty, cramped. I have a hard time believing its accidental. It’s too horrible. This had to be planned. Thought out. Executed. Someone thought to themselves«How can we make a restaurant so absolutely mind numbingly bad it makes the patron physically uncomfortable to think about days afterward?» And they made it happen. They followed that dream. This place is the result. The service was so bad, I found myself half heartedly wishing a camera crew would come out with a chuckling host to reveal it was all a joke. No such luck. The only joke was the bill and the cost of this experience. If this place is the only place open next time my family and I visit Harper’s Ferry, I’ll hunt wild game by the river and eat it raw before going back.

Over Priced and low quality. 12 $+ for a Reuben, you’d expect something good right? Worst sandwich I’ve ever been served outside of an Arby’s: Un-grilled bread, made soggy by bland, over-mayonnaised coleslaw, a limp deep-fried hash brown patty, a thin few slices of corned beef and swiss cheese. French Fries: Tasted old… as if they had been cooked before and reheated. They did have excellent onion-rings with a really good«fry sauce» however. I should have ordered just that and skipped an entrée. Never again.

Not at all impressed, and nothing even remotely Irish about this place other than the tri-colour flag hanging out front. We entered from the street level entrance, but there was no host station, so we went upstairs looking for someone that worked there and found the bar. We asked for a table and we were told(not asked) to go outside for a table. It was a little chilly out, but tolerable, so we were agreeable about sitting outside anyway. Apparently without enough menus to go around, we had to wait for a nearby table to finish ordering before we could even look at one. Lots of items on the menu sounded great, but were wildly disappointing upon a very late arrival. The beer cheese dip was watery and flavourless, tasting neither like beer nor cheese, and the chips that accompanied the dip were mostly limp/soggy and stale. Then there was the«Irish» potato pizza concoction, which tasted like it was made with freeze-dried instant potatoes, missing half the ingredients the menu claimed it was made with, made tolerable only with the hot sauce provided on the table. I noticed other tables getting frustrated as well, with the kitchen being out of several items they attempted to order. One guy was even brought the wrong soup, but didn’t say anything, but another server noticed the mistake and came out to take his soup away to go get the correct one, only to come back with the same(incorrect) soup, stating they were out of the one he ordered, but he graciously settled for what was presented to him. I see other reviewers have commented on the unwelcoming nature of the larger female bartender, and assuming we were being served by this same person, I wouldn’t say she was unwelcoming as much as she was just unprofessional — i.e. carrying open bottled drinks in the crook of her arm, nearly in her armpit, instead of on a tray … the tray she previously wiped out with, spilling coffee into the seat where my camera bag was sitting(no harm to camera, thankfully). The only saving grace was the lovely view of the historic Harpers Ferry area.

Not going to lie the sign out front with today’s special roped me in. I was all for a pulled pork sandwich. I do not know they make it in West Virginia but it was terrible, the sauce was too sweet, my second mistake was getting a pretzel roll in West Virginia, that’s like ordering a Philly Cheesesteak in New York. I was highly disappointed in my whole meal, at least I got to experience a local brew from Mountain State Brewing Co. The town of Harper’s Ferry was awesome but I should of looked for something better on Unilocal.I am an elite I should no better then this, I am going to blame it on the heat and my hunger.

A very nice but small eatery/bar. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and was told there were two available tables out back to go and grab one. She came right away and took our drink order and we received them in a timely fashion As with all new places, I asked Anngi what she ate there and she said crab cakes. I was about to skip that suggestion and she must have read my face. Every time I order crab cakes outside of Maryland, they’re horrible. She said she was originally from Baltimore like we are and she knows crab cakes and they’re really good. They’re not Old Bay type crab cakes but they weren’t full of fillers either; that they had lump crab meat aplenty. So based on her being from Baltimore, I ordered them and it was delicious! It was served on a fresh pretzel bun and very good. Even hubby approved and was sorry he didn’t get one. They«only» have beer and wine. Since I’m a liquor kind of gal, I was disappointed but she recommended a good blonde ale. I had two of those. Very happy we stopped by and we will be back again.

Tourist prices and food that leaves no doubt as to why you should eat elsewhere. This seems like a classic case of supply and demand as it was one of the few places open mid-week during April. The prices at Quinn’s are pretty steep for the quality of the food. Frozen, deep fried fish and chips and a Reuben that was supposed to be a specialty. The one thin slice of corned beef and inclusion of a latke with way too much coleslaw must make it so, or maybe it was the $ 12.95 price tag. The service was lacking a well. The décor is bland and uncomfortable which is a shame, given the location in the heart of historic Harpers Ferry. We should have eaten before getting to Harpers Ferry, given this experience. Visited mid-April while on a spring break Civil War trail tour with our kids.

The food was only OK. Our waitress was friendly and kept checking on us. Factor in the limited food choices and tourist atmosphere and the place is four stars. I found the prices what one would expect based on the location. The food was served in baskets and the drinks in paper fountain cups. It is high end fast food.

The draft IPA was fine. The tiny bar has maybe 4 or 5 seats so more than likely you’ll be SOL if you wanted to sit and have a couple of cold drinks after exploring Harper’s Ferry. The rotund female bartender wasn’t particularly welcoming, and took our order in between bites of her steak and cheese.

I’ve eaten here twice, as I’m a frequent visitor to the park, both for lunch. Situated across from the Harpers Ferry train station, near the area where the rivers meet, I must admit, their fish and chips are AWESOME. Battered with their perfected Yeungling beer batter, and add it w/a root beer and fries, and you’ve got yourself an amazing lunch that will have you full for several hours! Oh, and the coleslaw that comes with it is terrific too. It’s rustic look adds extra points for the value! The service is very nice, I always had great wait staff that checked on me and made sure that my food was made right. Definitely a busy place during lunch hours, but it’s definitely worth stopping by. I’ll be eating here plenty more times as I make my way back to the park(and as long as the Secret Six stays closed).

Danny M. and I stopped at Private Quinn’s to get lunch while in Harper’s Ferry. As other reviewers have pointed out, the food is pretty good but overpriced. I would give the food 3.5 stars but downgrade it half a star for value. Danny M. and I ordered a crab cake sandwich and chicken club. Both were very tasty and hit the spot after starving all afternoon. We got a side of the apple BBQ dipping sauce which complimented the chicken club sandwich and fries very well.
