This cart is new to the Rocco’s food cart area, and I hope people will try, just try, the Santa Maria Steak Sandwich. Im sure his other items are great as well, but please devote $ 6.00 and you will be pleasantly surprised. The meat has flavor, smoke and tenderness. I honestly was hesitant to try it, as i bbq/smoke my ribs and i am happy, but for the times i dont grill, this sandwich is great. In all fairness, his steak sandwich is better than what i produce. 2nd, if you have been to the place by Unitus Credit Union, IMO, that is a place that smells the smell, but if it wasnt for the sauce, the taste would be bland. 3rd, you can go to the Mexican truck next to this bbq cart and get tacos, burritos or nachos, but for around the same price you can truly enjoy bbq’d meats. I believe Craig needs to advertise the $ 5 — $ 7 items near the street corner, and/or show open faced views of his sandwiches on the outside of his cart. He does a great job with the meats, and i am glad i tried one, cause now i know my new goto place. Excellent flavor Craig! Thank you :)

Relocated to 82nd avenue, acrossed the street from Best Buy. Same great BBQ taste as six years ago when I first found his cart. He has always been consistent in flavor and cooking style. Cooks all the meat on big BBQ grills on site. The green beans are fantastic. Go, read the sign about his cooking style and try it. At the other prime location, he had a large loyal following, get there before the crowds find him again.

Hello to all my BBQ groupies! Yes we have moved from the Carver Junction at Nature’s market. Here is the truth behind this. After 6 years of working hard to build the business and customer base the Landlord saw fit to demand a 90% rent increase for 2016 with a one year time line. Obviously this was not sustainable. We are now located at 9603SE82nd Ave. This is 3 blocks south of Johnson Creek Blvd. At Rocco’s place cart lot. Hours for the time being are Wed to Sun open at 11:00AM. I have just spent an hour reading all of the past reviews. I find it most interesting that someone who did not think the food was not good spent 15 minutes ripping us a new one on line but did not take 30 seconds to share that with us at the time. As it turns out yes, we did have an issue with our chicken being dry. We have changed suppliers, cooking methods and retrained staff. We work to standard that we feel is above the norm. I cook«Santa Maria» style. This different than other styles of smoking brisket for 16 hours. The tri-Tip is a very lean cut of meat is meant to have a distinct flavor, and is slightly chewy. We welcome Kudo’s as well as constructive observations at any time. We look forward to many more years of serving the local area. Call in at 503−781−7300 Craig

RELOCATED to 9016SE82nd Ave by Rocco’s(82nd& Lamphier by McDonald’s) They used to be near Nature’s Country Market on Hwy 224 in Damascus. Same awesome people, same wonderful customer service, same amazing food! The food is truly great!!! Barbecue chicken, tri tip, ribs… All of it is phenomenal! The sides are delicious and generous. Garlic bacon green beans and mac salad are my favorite. Their homemade BBQ sauces are to die for. I can’t ever pick just one. If you like BBQ this is a must try! Don’t think, just go!

He’s gone. Rumor has it that he was not happy about competing with the new taco truck at that location.

They charge restaurant prices for average cart BBQ. The side options are minimal(baked beans, green beans, coleslaw)-you can pay a $ 1 more for garlic bread or cornbread. The baby back ribs and tri-tip are pretty good but the chicken was very dry. The baked beans were runny but actually had good flavor. This place wouldn’t last in a more competitive cart environment.

I posted a picture of the ambiance. Old tables and chairs under a tarp with the garbage right by the tables to make sure that they attract all the wasp possible as you enjoy your meal. I would not be comfortable recommending you to make a stop here as an out of the way place to go. If you happen to be passing by and are hungry then sure give it a shot. Its not anything special BBQ and the owner or cook there isn’t going to give you any allusion that it is. That is what I have and this is the way I do it was what I was told Okay. Sorry for asking questions on my first visit I will learn my lesson for next time like not to have a next time. The food was reheated. Its a pet peeve of mine. I was not expecting McDonalds like service. There is a sign on the trailer telling you this is not fast food and don’t be impatient good food takes a long time to cook. I wonder when the good food is served because it was not on a Saturday in the middle of the day. The owner could also be heard complaining about customers and the fact that he had to cook. Well thank for feeding me with that attitude. I think it comes through in the taste. Bitter with out any sweetness and lacking on the sharp side. The chicken was extremely dry and in some spots hard. I could not say any better for the tri tip which was then also dunked in the beans of the bowl I ordered which did not fit the description at all the way I envisioned it. The corn bread was taken out of the freezer and I am guessing a combination of microwaved and then thrown onto the propane stove they have going for a couple minutes. So, the outside was kind of burnt and the inside was kind of still frozen. When you are looking for and thinking of good corn bread and this is what you get. You are extremely disappointed. The beans well what can I say about the beans. They seem to be the only item not reheated. They were hot and had some flavor however the overwhelming flavor was sugar. Not honey. Not molasses. Not brown sugar. Just sugar. I should have known not to even order here. When the only thing that everyone at the counter is getting excited about is the sauce in a squeeze bottle you put on yourself. Be warned there is a reason they want you to use so much sauce. There is no flavor in the food and we would like you to cover up the fact that it did not come fresh off the grill and it helps to mask the bitterness of the person who is cooking it. This flavor is imparted into the final product.

Just tried the tri-tip, pork loin, chicken, and pork ribs for lunch with 2 mini-loaves of cornbread. All meat except for the pork ribs were dry, the chicken and pork loin being the driest and the toughest. There just wasn’t much flavor. The pork ribs were moist and tender, but not a whole lot of flavor either. Was this all day-old? The cornbread was not to my liking either, but I’m one of those that likes sweet cornbread and it was not sweet and didn’t seem to contain much cornmeal, if any(this one could very well be personal preference, but I love cornbread and am not a picky eater and I just couldn’t eat much of their cornbread). It was a disappointing experience.

This is the worst BBQ I’ve had. Went for lunch and got two meat platters to sample one of every meat they had. The chicken was by far the worst, but all the meats had the same problem. No flavor from the rub and dried meat, which is always a bad sign for BBQ. The only decent thing they had was the ribs. They had a nice tenderness and smokey flavor, but were bland in flavor. Tri tip was dry and and had bad flavor, same as the pork loin. The sides and bbq sauce were disappointing. All the sauces are familiar store bought items that you might recognize by taste. The corn bread tasted like store bought mix. Not a good brand either, but lije the cheap winco store brand. Two bites and I threw the rest away. Good BBQ in Oregon is hard to find and I get that. But you’re better off getting a McRib from McDonald’s than anything here… I’m not kidding.

TL;DR — Meat was smoked well and flavorful, but sometimes tougher than desired. Pretty sure green beans were canned. Overall decent. I was excited to check this place out. We ordered the 2 meat plate with 2 sides. A couple of the ribs we got were tough, but the other two were really good. The tri tip was excellent. And all three of the sauces were very good, especially the smokey. The baked beens were delicious, but I was totally bummed that the garlic & bacon green beans were from the can and actually pretty bland. The cornbread was meh as well. Still, a very good meal. I’d give it 3.5 stars.

D has been craving BBQ and this place has such stellar reviews on Unilocal we thought we’d check it out. All in all, not bad but not great. The service was excellent and it was definitely busy. I got the 2 meat plate with tri-tip and ribs. The tri tip was tender but very peppery. The ribs were smokey but too tough for my tastes. The garlic bread was really delicious and so were the baked beans. D got the tri tip sandwich — said it was OK and the garlic green beans needed salt.

This is a little stand in the parking lot of a country store. It was delicious and it seemed like most people come by for take out, so don’t let a lack of crowds dissuade you. We learned after eating at one of the two tables provided, that if we had just walked a few feet away to the store with our food, there is a beer garden with tons of seating… have to keep that in mind for next time. The baked beans were definitely made from scratch and not too sweet, the cornbread had corn and green chiles in it, there were two BBQ sauce choices in squeeze bottles, potato salad was well seasoned and creamy, and as stated everything was delicious and worth a return visit.

Best meat ever! The steak sandwich is a favorite! My hubby stopped on the way home and grabbed a couple sandwiches. He sent me back for more because it was so good! The sandwiches are packed with meat and the natural flavor is fantastic!

Stopped by The BBQ Guy after some hardcore whitewater rafting down at Clackamas River. Ok it wasn’t hardcore(hardcore fun maybe), but we did work up an appetite. Ordered the ribs for myself, with a side of potato salad and green beans(bf’s choice that noob). Sides were ok, not really into the green beans, although I did try my friend’s baked beans and it was gooooood. The ribs were good! It was sliightly dry, but it had all the right flavors and I could easily rip it off the bones. Also, just drench it in some sauce… extra flavor and extra moisture. duh I liked the yellow sauce(forgot what it was called) and the one with the X on the bottle. I’m assuming it was supposed to be spicy, but it wasn’t that spicy. The smokey one was alright too. The sauces were all pretty good, except the sweet one I think. Also there was SRIRACHA so who cares about anything else. My bf’s sandwich(tri tip? I think?) was also bomb. The bread/roll it was served with was yummayyyyyyy, slightly chewy but held its own. I enjoyed eating in the open space, on the benches where you can even see the BBQ pits. It felt like I was in a totally different place, but it made the experience all the more authentic.
