Lappert’s is an icon in Kaua’i, for good reason. Awesome ice cream, wonderful flavors using local ingredients, and friendly staff. Prices are not cheap, but it’s top end ice cream, on Kaua’i, so what do you expect? Think we went 4 times while we were there. Of course, we got shave ice EVERYDAY, but if I’d eaten Lappert’s daily, I would have gained 10 pounds.

Stopped on our way back from The Lion Man Canyon. Just outside of Hanapepe, on route 50. This place seems to be frequented by both locals and tourists, and the ice cream was delicious. The small scoop seem to be in line with other Hawaiian prices, much more pricey than the mainland — but hey… it’s vacation! The caramel praline and vanilla mixture that I got was very rich and delicious. The small was plenty as I definitely couldn’t have eaten two scoops. The only difficulty we had was seeing all of the flavors as they have two windows but you have to basically look in each window to see the different flavors says they’re not posted anywhere. Not a major inconvenience, and the one girl working behind the counter was certainly doing her best to keep the line moving. Certainly worth a stop if you’re craving something sweet!

Very much enjoyed my first Lappert’s Hawaii Ice Cream experience! I’d heard many stories about Lappert’s and was glad to drive by the original on a sightseeing outting. Stopped in on our way back and, though they were out of both my first and second choice flavors(wow!), which were both coffee-based, loved Kauai Pie(i.e., coffee-coconut-macadamian nut) flavor I wound up with. The waffle cone was pretty good, too, though I find on humid locations, cones tend to have a bit of chew factor.

I went to the Princeville location at the Princeville Center. Great service. Friendly workers. GREATICECREAM. I forgot what I got, but it really doesn’t matter. I got 2 flavors and my wife got 1. They are 3 – 0 on great tasting ice creams. Will definitely be back.

Must go. The ice cream is one of the islands best. Lots of tourist today but the kids working handled the crowd very well. The ice cream was so good we went back for more later that night. Prices are comparable to others as it is a tourist stop

Lappert’s ice cream really is as delicious as people say it is. We opted to try out this original location in Hanapepe on our way back from Waimea Canyon, but really any location would be just as good. The original is kind of just cool to see — it’s more of just a stand with 3 parking spots out front. Flavor choices are amazing — it’s really hard to decide what to get! My husband settled on the Kona Java Lava, and I had to try the coconut. Both were awesome! I want to go back and try the white chocolate macadamia nut at some point(and just about all the other flavors too). I know shave ice is the thing everyone raves about, but I think I prefer ice cream to ice so this was a perfect treat.

Came here to get a snack after going to the beach… YUMM! The girl at the counter was super nice — letting us sample the flavors before deciding without being annoyed(lol). They have keiki sizes for the little ones and two scoops and even homemade waffle cones for those going all out. The flavors are all Hawaiian themed; integrating Macadamia nuts, Kona coffee, Hawaiian salt, etc into the ice cream to give it a real unique and delicious flavor. I’ve been to a few Lappert’s on the other islands, but for some reason this Lappert’s had the best flavors and the quality of the ice cream was much better than I can remember. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a sweet treat to pull over and get some ice cream here. You won’t regret it!

Salted Caramel Peanut Butter in a waffle cone… DOIT! They also have a delicious affidato which is ice cream with a shot of espresso in the cup with your ice cream. This was also extremely delicious.

located off of kaumuali’i highway in hanapepe, this is the original lappert’s hawaii! lappert’s has always been my favorite icecream. they have all your traditional flavors, as well as some delicious hawaiian flavors like macadamia nut, kauai pie, and some other wonderful sorbets that will make your mouth water. they make all of their icecreams here for the rest of their locations around the island of kauai. the consistency of their icecream is always smooth and milky. for some of their icecreams, they add in delicious morsels of chocolate, cookies, or fruit and it’s basically heaven on a cone!

Go here, get the vanilla-macadamia nut or the Kauai Pie. You will be happy. You will be back.

I love Lappert’s. It’s my most favorite ice cream ever. The first 5 days of our trip, we had Lappert’s each day. Each ice cream flavor I had was great but my favorite is the plain macadamia nut. 4 stars because I’m comparing this Lappert’s to the one in Poipu(and because one day that we went, half of the flavors were unavailable. which shouldn’t ever be the case at the original Lappert’s location). No air conditioning and no endless water cups for the taking at this Lappert’s, but it is still the original that started it all.

The OG Lappert’s that started it all! I like all of the Lappert’s, as the flavors are all great. This location is the oldest, so it has character. I do like the atmosphere of the Princeville location the most, however. I wish they would have the same flavors in Southern Cali. Kaua’i Kookie Company is right around the corner, so a great combo! Be sure to visit the small shops in Hanapepe, so the businesses stay afloat. I feel so bad for them, as it seems like there is little to no activity there.

Hands down, 100%, no doubt about it, BEST ice cream my Husband and I have EVER had. Period. We came here 2 – 3 times on our 5 day vacation and the only thing we regret is not finding this place sooner or we would have come at least once everyday! I got a waffle come filled with Kauai Pie ice cream and it was heavenly!!! I love Coffee ice cream but coffee ice cream mixed with coconut and chocolate? The best! I never wanted to get anything else, this was it for me! Heaven on a cone. My Husband got the Lave Tube which was ice cream, chocolate, caramel, etc. in a cup. Everything you could ever dreamed of mixed together in sweet goodness! He got that the first night and stuck with it throughout the trip too. They sometimes got busy with a small line, but it is worth the wait. It is even worth the drive across the island, but fortunately we stayed at a hotel that was close. The only downside to this place is that they don’t have locations in Northern California and we crave their ice cream all the time! We have yet to find anything that even comes close.

I usually agree with the ratings on Unilocal,so I’m surprised to find I don’t fit the norm for this ice cream place. We were going to stop at the Kauai Cookie Company outlet next door, and happened to run into this little stop along the road. In the mood for some good ice cream, we tried a few popular flavors, and I liked(didn’t love) the ones I tried. I finally settled on caramel coconut macademia nut in a waffle cone. The taste is good, definitely tastes more homemade than commercial, so that was a plus, but somehow it just didn’t give me that amazing ice cream moment I was expecting. They have another location at Poipu Beach.

Coconut Caramel Macadamia Nut ice cream! We went to Lappert’s in Kauai every day during our weeklong stay and visited this location returning from Waimea Canyon. This is original location in the chain and pretty bare bones at that but they serve delicious(though too expensive) ice cream! $ 7.60 for 2 single scoops, $ 10 for 2 single scoops in a waffle cone.

Saw this place while we were eating next door. Came here for dessert, and I am so happy that I did. Found out that this is the original Lappert’s Ice Cream location! It’s a small place. You just walk up to the window and place your order. There are a couple of places to eat outside, and they only have a few spots to park. Kauai Pie and Macadamia Nut ice cream are the two flavors that I ordered. Double scoop for $ 5.99. Both flavors were so yummingly(is that a word?) fantastic!!! I highly recommend you go try these two flavors yourself! There are other flavors available, and I’ll have to try some of them next time. In the meantime, I will just continue to have fond memories of the Kauai Pie and Macadamia Nut from 3 weeks ago! Stop by this Lappert’s and try them for yourself! They are the original Lappert’s and the best one!

Ice cream is my weakness and this place definitely hit the spot! This small little ice cream stand is off of the Kaumuali’i Hwy in Hanapepe. They have a wide variety of homemade gourmet ice cream and sorbets to choose from. They have your typical flavors such as mint chocolate, chocolate chip cookie dough, vanilla bean etc, but what I suggest you trying are the flavors you typically don’t see on the mainland! I love Kona coffee so I decided to try the Kauai Pie which was AMAZINGG! t’s Kona coffee ice cream swirled with chocolate fudge, coconut flakes, macadamia nuts and vanilla cake crunch. Everything went together so well. The small cup looks small… but it’s the perfect size because the ice cream is so rich and creamy. Definitely try this original Lapperts location for a quick treat when you’re in town!
