This restaurant is run by some of the rudest people I have ever met. They refused to use our certificate through the mobile app and gave us attitude the whole way through. I always tip even when the food is bad, so it’s saying something that I did not tip anything at this place. Other reviews say they don’t like tourists — but they’re located in a tourist shop center in a tourist surf village! If you want mediocre breakfast and a bad mood, definitely come to this place.

Quick stop on the way to the Napali Coast. Opens early with reasonable pricing and good food. Loco Moco was awesome must try…

This review is strictly based on the chili pepper chicken because that was the only thing I ordered. It was soo bombbb. I literally would go in and do the same thing everyday if I could. Just a piece of chili pepper chicken to go… Everyday!

Came for breakfast. The interior is dingy and we were waited on at the counter with what felt like suspicion. Strange, I know, but it was a weird feeling. Had the island pancakes. Unimpressive. Served on a paper plate with no garnish whatsoever. Aldo had a burrito which was good but not great. Coffee was gross. The only creamer available was in those little coffeemate packages that were rock hard and did not dissolve in coffee. It is also one of those places that has«warning» signs all over the place. «No condiments removed from this area,» etc. Will not return.

We’ve found our breakfast place! My three men had the loco moco, and I had the tropical pancakes(banana, coconut, and mac nuts), with a side of the Portuguese sausage. All of it was excellent. Even the regular coffee was made with love. In the display case, there’s vanilla haupia pie, chocolate haupia pie, mac nut pie, guava chiffon, and lilikoi chiffon. Next time!

It’s a dive, they don’t open on time, and the service is as friendly as you’re willing to be. But the food is good and it’s decently priced.

Awesome stop for a quick bite on the north shore. Casual. homey, and cheap — a great combination after a trip to the beach. Whatever you do, get the bleeping chili pepper chicken. You’ll understand when you taste it – and you’ll thank me.

Very confused about where the great ratings for this restaurant are coming from. It’s a hole in the wall and very much feels like it with very basic haphazard interiors, which isn’t a bad thing in itself but the food was pretty bad. Got a loco moco that was very over cooked and very tough, in a congealed tasteless gravy. Got a side of spam that was deliciously pan fried though, and saved my breakfast for me. Locals seem to like the place because there were a good number of customers, but I would not recommend this place for visitors unless you want a very mediocre breakfast experience bordering on terrible.

Having visited little out-of-the-way places in search of local alternatives to expensive resort dining(such as the excellent 808 Grindz Café in Lahaina), when I saw this place had moco loco I had high hopes. Too high, as it turns out. The place is easy to find, parking is in the Ching Young Village mall parking lot. Décor: The interior has not seen much improvement for quite a while. Carpeting in the small dining area could use a couple of hours of shampooing. At least the tables were clean. The TV was LOUD, playing the movie«Rambo» while we were trying to eat breakfast. A poor choice of entertainment for 8:30am. Service: None. Someone takes your order, then calls your name when it’s ready. Food: Coffee taste was OK, 6.5 on a scale of 10. It was fresh and hot, though. Wife and I had the moco loco which was quite bland from a flavor standpoint. Daughter had french toast, which was not very good. One complaint: They serve it overloaded on small 8″ paper plates, which makes it difficult to maneuver when you’re trying to eat it. Cost: Definitely affordable. Here’s the one bright spot: It was $ 32 for all three of us including tip. At the resort, that didn’t even cover the breakfast cost for one of us. Bottom line: Staying in Hawaii is really expensive. This is an OK place if you want OK food that’s filling and affordable Just lower your expectations around the dining experience.

Okay, admittedly, I loved the views of Hanalei more than I liked the food at this place, but that being said, the food was still decently tasty and satisfying. I got fried eggs on top of rice, with a side of toast and bacon. It was the perfect amount before I went snorkeling later. The place is located in a shopping mall which is convenient for parking, and also close to a crêpe food truck called Banandi, just saying.

This is a diamond in the rough, a local spot hidden in the touristy center of the Ching Young Village. I like this place because they open early, have all the staple Hawaiian breakfast meals, and its cheap. I ordered two eggs, white rice, spam and toast before a long hike. It was good and filling. Not particularly healthy, but it sure fuels you up for the day. It’s definitely a family run business and you get some nice locals in the morning. They also had the best musubi I had on the island. For being just seaweed, rice, spam(and I think egg or tofu), if was very flavorful and filling. I honestly never had spam before in my life, and probably ate it everyday I was there. I will say I GETIT – that is, why Hawaiians love spam – it’s just a perfect salty, savory protein that tastes good with everything. I don’t even like ham a whole lot, but the musubi has soy sauce, probably sugar and mirin to give it flavor.

This is getting five stars because it is good breakfast at a fraction of the cost around here. The macadamia nut pancakes where fluffy, nutty and tasty(fake syrup, but again, the price). The loco moco was my first of its kind so I can’t say if it was exceptional for its kind but it was indeed tasty! Breakfast sandwich was standard and good.

It’s not easy to find typical Hawaiian food on the North Shore, but this place hit the spot. The food wasn’t particularly amazing, but it was good and cheap. The loco moco had a good gravy and flavorful patties, but the eggs were slightly overcooked. The combo plates are a good option if you want to try out a few things. The chili chicken was flavorful, but a little on the salty side. The saimin broth was good, but the noodles were a bit gloopy, especially at the bottom of the styrofoam container. However, the chocolate haupia pie was fantastic! I’ve only had the coconut version on Oahu years ago and wasn’t a fan, but their chocolate one was great! Service is slow, but there’s a parking lot for the shopping center and the food is decent. I’d go here over L&L.

This was a convenient place to grab breakfast in Hanalei. Order at the counter. There’s ample seating with options inside and in the courtyard, but it was HOT and stuffy inside the restaurant, so no one wanted to sit in there that day! This was in early March, so I imagine it’s even worse in summer. My loco moco was great! I had loco moco a few times during this trip to Hawaii(…a small obsession), and this was my favorite one. The gravy was flavorful, and the key part is that the patty wasn’t overcooked. There was an option to have it served with white rice, brown rice, or hash browns… I’ve only ever had loco moco with white rice so I went that route and it was quite good. It also came with 2 slices of toast, but I was too full to eat it! My husband’s breakfast with spam, sausage, eggs, and toast was solid as well. This spot is casual with no frills, but if you are content with comfort food on styrofoam plates, then stop on by!

Perhaps service decided to give up once they got good reviews… Wings — bone dry. You might as well chew tree bark. Service — I was greeted with an eye roll and an impatient pen clicking… Seriously… Do you have somewhere you need to be? Pie — one sweet thing that can balance all the bitterness…

I had to come and try their peppa chicken. It was OK, but not wonderful. What was delicious was their haupia pies, they are a 5. The crust is a square shortbread cookie and the haupia was so tasty. We should have bought more pies to take back… next time.

This review is just based on the vanilla and chocolate haupia pies! The vanilla and chocolate haupia pies are absolutely perfectly made here and to die for! I highly recommend this little bakery/restaurant to get your fix of haupia pie. The vanilla one is my favorite by far but both of these pies are absolute harmonious masterpieces! They are the perfect amount of sweet, coconuty, flaky, and creamy. Grab a slice or a few and head down to Hanalei to enjoy on the beach or watching the sunset, trust me! My friends love the chili pepper chicken here too so if you like chili pepper chicken, I would recommend getting it from here too! Happy eating!

Weakest plate lunch I’ve had in Hawaii — salty, tough beef teriyaki and dry white rice. Aggressive counter staff who grumbled incessantly when I pointed out they’d served my to-go order on a plate, rather than a styrofoam to-go box; they turned down my request for a box and gave me some tinfoil instead. Out of saimin soup. Overall, not what I’d hoped for.
