Blue Tiki Tattoo

My husband and I got our tattoos while on honeymoon in Kauai. It was his first time getting one, and Jess did outstanding work! She was gentle, patient, and a perfectionist which was right up my alley. Furthermore, the shop is clean and conveniently located with accessible oarking.

Billie was excellent! She worked with me to design a tattoo that will have meaning for me my entire life. Though getting the tattoo was painful (duh!), she allowed me to sing out loud throughout the entire process so I could disassociate from the pain. If you’re looking for a friendly & knowledgeable tattoo artist look no further than Billie. She made my first time a breeze.

Billie was great. She was able to fit us in on short notice, and inked a fantastic turtle on my girl. She has a wonderful bedside manner, and is a wealth of knowledge on the local centipede population.
Next time I’m in Kauai, I’ll be stopping in at the Blue Tiki.

My husband and I had a wonderful tattoo experience here. Billie did both of our tattoos, they turned out great!!! Billie is awesome, she’s personable and lots of fun!!! Wow! A lot has changed in this shop! I never thought I would return after my last experience w the notorious Uncle Tim… But his ship has sailed and he no longer works here! Billy is amazing and helped my sis touch up a tat. Their customer service is outstanding! The shop looks so clean and the vibe is completely different then when I first came here! So happy for them! Now I can actually recommend this place to my friends!

My wife and I were celebrating our honeymoon when we noticed her shop towards the end of our trip; we had so many memories of our Kauai experience we knew a shared, first-​time tattoo would be the perfect way to cap the adventure. Miss Billie delivered on all levels.
She was honest and direct with scheduling a time days in advance, and working with us on our designs and providing insight and options on how to position them on our bodies. We could not be happier with the final products.

I’ve been itching for a tattoo for awhile, and figured I would know the right time and place when I saw it. While in Kauai on my 40^th (to be), I did some Unilocaling and thought I would pop into the Blue Tiki Tattoo. I was greeted by Gary and showed him an idea of what I wanted, and made an appt for the day before leaving. A down-​deposit of $ 60 was made (this is standard practice). When I arrived, he had 2 designs that incorporated some tribal design with a flower. I chose one, and off we went.
It took about an hour and 40 minutes and Gary was great. I only have one other small tattoo that I got 20 years ago, so I’m sure there were a few moments of foot spasms ~ though I tried to be as still as possible. The end result was perfect ~ and I totally love it. I would recommend Gary to anyone that is new to the tattoo art. He is patient, considerate, calming, and talented.

Miss Billie was awesome and gave my cousin a great first time tattoo and me a great number 5 tattoo. She was professional, patient yet expeditious, answered all of his questions, and super friendly! I look forward to my next experience with Miss Billie and seeing her again in Hanalei!

Had an appointment with Sean yesterday, Oct. 12. He was awesome. He nailed the tattoo, was professional and personable. Billie was there too and a pleasure to talk too. Shop is clean and welcoming. I’ve been considering getting a tattoo for at least 30 years! Part of my hesitation was what to get, but the other part was where to put it so that it wouldn’t be visable while I was at work, and also not in a place that I couldn’t see it myself either.
I took an early retirement this year so that was no longer a problem.
I was planning a trip to Kauai this June to scatter the ashes of both my parents.
My parents owned a condo there for about 27 years, so that was the place I spent my summer vacation for those years, & Kauai became my second home. I always have said that part of my soul is there.
I decided that this would be the perfect time & place to get my first tattoo, as it would be a very special trip this year.
My friend & I visited 5 or 6 tattoo studios around the island, from Hanapepe to Hanalei. They all seemed clean & had numerous books to browse through to see examples of their work. Some places just had a better «feel» than others. One studio in Koloa was just horrible. The guy working there clearly didn’t want to do tattoos for tourists. He was very condescending & a real jerk!
But as soon as I walked in to Blue Tiki, I knew this would be the place for me.
First of all, we were greeted by Sarah. She was a lovely young woman who was not only professional, but very welcoming. She was a huge factor in choosing Blue Tiki.
Then, I watched as Sean prepped the areas for his next client. I worked in the health care field for 41 years, so I’m extremely watchful for these things, & what I saw him do to sterilize the area made me feel very confident.
My brother arranged an appointment with Sean & my friend & I with Billie at the same time 2 days later, which was the day before we would be going back home.
All of the horror stories that I’ve heard for years about the pain involved while getting a tattoo never happened. At worst, I found it a teeny uncomfortable once or twice, but other than that, a minor annoyance!
My tattoo came out just beautiful! I chose something that would signify my love of Kauai & the Hawaiian culture. Billie was fantastic! She made me feel so at ease.
We were all given after-​care instructions to follow.
I am SO happy with my tattoo & can’t recommend Billie & Sean enough.

Pros: One of the tattoo designs he did for me was OUTSTANDING! It’s the most beautiful tattoo I have. It was exactly what I asked for and more! That is the entire reason for the four stars.
Cons: Tim is an angry and unpleasant man. Don’t expect to be treated well. The second tattoo he have me (on the same visit) is a joke. It looks like a child’s drawing and he was in a hurry to join a friend for dinner so he did a horrible job of filling in both tattoos. I had to have them finished at another shop so even though his price was reasonable it wasn’t.
Summary: Great tattoos (mostly)! (Don’t call them «tats». He hates that.) You know what they say «Tim’s an a**hole but he’s all right» (his words, not mine)

There are just no words for the customer service, the energy, how cool, and amazing the artist, location and work that Blue Tiki puts in. Billie and Sean did such an amazing job on my sister & I. Our tattoo came out beyond perfection. I’ve never been more in love with my first tattoo & my sisters 7^th. They get full military kudos. We were visiting from NYC and AZ. We wanted tattoos in a short timeframe, they accommodated us both. Making the experience that more special. I’ll be back again. I refuse for anyone to tatt me up. Aloha baby!

I got a small wave done on my inner foot by the new shop owner Billie. I work in the medical field doing surgeries and am very OCD about clean and sterile work environment when dealing with blood. I can not say enough good things about Billie sterile and clean technique. Billie is a sweetheart! She is very easy to talk to. A few hours after i got my tattoo i noticed a tiny area i wanted to have touched up. I called 10 mins before closing n she answered the phone. she was on her way out but told me to come in n she would touch it up. She ended up staying late for me and was very cool about adding this tiny line for me. I love my wave tattoo!
My Husband had an old lion tattoo completely touch up by Jeremy. He did a great job. The tattoo had a lot of fine lines and details n he did it perfectly. My husband was very satisfied with his work.
Last but not least I can’t finish this review without mentioning Sarah who works there as well. She was a very sweet and helpful making our appointments and make sure we felt comfortable. Overall I would have to say this was the best tattoo experiences I have ever had.

Billie and Jeremy both did work for us on our last trip. We were really happy with all the work and will be back on our next trip. The shop has a fun atmosphere and is super clean. I cant speak highly enough of them!

It was my first time at this tattoo shop and I worked with Jeremy. He was amazing! He spent time working on my design, checked in with me often to make sure I loved it, changed the music to something beautiful and calming. It is my 6^th tattoo and by far the best experience I’ve had (and I’ve gotten mine from all over NYC, SF, Maui, CO) Jeremy not only looks like Adam Levine (wow) but he has a light touch so it didn’t hurt much and he was really in tune with me and what I wanted. He made this experience well worth the effort and I love what he produced! It was a fabulous experience and the new owner rocks! She takes great pride in her new business, keeps he shop really clean and is a true inspiration!

I couldn’t be happier with my tattoo. Jeremy took great care to listen to my ideas and explain what he felt would look best. I loved the design he created and felt the whole time like I was in capable hands. He does beautiful work. I wanted a brown tattoo and it was more involved and more expensive but it’s worth every penny. I love my tattoo!!!

After visiting many local shops back home in Seattle, I found Blue Tiki and Uncle Tim in the beautiful town of Hanalei. The moment my wife and I walked in we were excited about getting work done there. We both wanted turtles (of course), he drew one up custom for my wife, and Jesse drew one up for me, that incorporated my terminally ill nephews initials. Pics will soon follow, they both turned out amazing! Then he pierced my wife’s nose in a painless and quick fashion. If your on the island of Kauai do not go anywhere else. I have to say that my experience at Blue Tiki Tattoo was quite literally the BEST tattoo experience I have ever had! Knowing that I was going to get a tattoo while on vacation, I researched all of the tattoo shops on Kauai and Blue Tiki BY FAR had the best ink!
The shop is not just clean, it is immaculate. The staff, Billie Harris & Uncle Tim were so warm and inviting, that they made it a memorable experience — not just a tattoo.
It’s true that you can’t believe everything you read online, like the COMPLETELY UNTRUE Unilocal review calling Uncle Tim a «homophobe». Let me just tell you, as a lesbian, this could not be further from the truth

Uncle Tim is an old school pro; he cares about the art and craft and science of tattooing. He’s one of the tattooists out there fighting for quality and training in the industry.
He’s the real deal.
This is my favorite shop on Kauai, and one of my favorites anywhere in the islands; when Uncle Tim tattooed me, it was a completely positive experience. To be sure, he comes off as a bit of a madman/​pirate, but that’s part of the experience. The crusty/​curmudgeonly attitude is part of fun of getting an ‘uncle tim special’ tattoo.
The tattoos I got from him (rooster/​hog on my feet) are my favorite of my (many) tattoos; Tim understood exactly what I wanted.
I’d recommend Tim and Blue Tiki without reservation.
