Tutu’s Snack Shop

Wish I could have tried the food because I was so hungry, but I was 20 cents short for what I wanted, they would not compromise, they were out of rice at noon, and the service was the worst I have ever had. So I didn’t eat anything. Worst service I’ve ever experienced. So rude. I am still shocked and amazed.

The worst service I’ve ever had. My family decided to stop here for lunch. My parents ordered their meals first and we ordered ours separate. After my parents paid we stepped up to order, the blond girl behind the counter said they are not making anymore hot food… Mind you this seconds after my family ordered burgers and fries… I told her that they were my family we just didn’t want them to pay for us… She rudely said sorry no more hot food… Needless to say we didn’t order anything. My parents said one of their burgers was still cold/​frozen. Definitely won’t be going back there!

Good place to stop for an ice cream. Not many of the road side stands were open the day we went, so we were happy to find Tutus. The Mac Nut ice cream was pretty good. probably the money handling and lack of hand washing not so much. Overall an okay place. Right across from Hana Beach Park with an awesome view.

We had a positive experience here. The food and service were great. My husband enjoyed his Loco Moco and I enjoyed my BBQ pork plate.

Do yourself a favor… Skip this place! The attitude of the lady at the counter will dampen your Road to Hana experience & the food isn’t worth the prices. If you like Thai food, go on down the road to Nutcharees Authentic Thai. It’s in Hana between the Wailau Falls & the Oheo Pools. Completely worth the wait, & all the options for banana bread will give you a snack to hold you over til you get there! :) We wish we’d checked out the reviews of this place before making the mistake of stopping here. Pretty views & bathrooms is about all this place has to offer.

Okay, barbequed pork sandwich topped with pineapple coleslaw… AMAZING! And I bought some their homemade coconut candy which is simply coconut, brown sugar and vanilla, and it was melt-​in-​you-​mouth wonderfulness!
This is an «order at the window and wait to be called place». It’s simple, just order from the short list of items, wait a few minutes, then take your food out to a picnic table looking out over Hana Bay and crack open a beer/​beverage and enjoy.

They make a pretty good Cheeseburger.
Great service and they do carry a lot of options.

A not-​bad spot to grab a bite to eat.
ATMOSPHERE:
Take-​out only spot on beautiful Hana Bay. Seating is all outdoors on the covered lanai right in front of the shop or use the public picnic tables across the drive right off the bay. Either way you get a great view of the ocean.
FOOD:
Loco moco — One fried hamburger patty with mushroom & onion brown gravy over steamed rice. No mac salad (only comes with the hamburger steak plate lunch which is a bummer because mac salad compliments every local plate lunch!) Kind of pricey at $ 9, but everything in Hana is. Hamburger was cooked nicely, and the gravy had lots of flavor. I wish the portion was bigger.
SERVICE:
Fast & friendly. It’s a take-​out place only, so you order, pay, then pick up your food.

I was expecting a long line and long wait, but again, my dh and I were in Maui mid-​late September, which is supposedly their slowest month. When we arrived in Hana, there was no line when I got to the counter of Tutu’s snack shop and lots of open tables for us to sit at. IIRC, my lunch plate was about $ 9 bucks and I went for the terriyaki chicken. It was kinda bland and dry, but I was so darn hungry that I ate 2 of the 3 chicken thighs. I kept thinking that we should’ve stopped at Subway in Lahaina or packed our own sandwiches. My DH ordered the loco moco and he said it was just OK, definitely nothing to write home about. I wonder if I ordered a hamburger or turkey sammich, if I would’ve given them a better review? I guess I wouldn’t know cuz I probably wouldn’t go back.
