I am a Half Moon Bay local and always love visiting Cottage Industries. The quality & beauty of the woodwork and décor here is just divine!

I love visiting this store when we are in Half Moon Bay! We recently purchased four cherry dining room chairs that we had been admiring for quite some time.
The quality of the furniture in this store is excellent! The owner, Mike, answered a lot of our questions because we were trying to match chairs to our existing dining room table. He is VERY knowledgeable about furniture construction and all the various woods.
When I picked up the chairs he wrapped them all in blankets and shrink wrap. He was very careful in wrapping them for my drive home!
Our order was ready when promised, and we are very happy with our purchase.
I highly recommend this store. I plan to come back and purchase items in the future!

This is the real deal. Yes, it’s pricey. This is not disposable furniture. It is pure craftsmanship that is meant to be handed down through generations. I think of all the furniture I’ve purchased through the years, and I’ve spent more money replacing the same cheap-​azz table or dresser or bench or chair over and over again than I would have buying über-​quality like this. Their pieces have a warmth and a bit of soul about them that tugs at you to make them a part of your home.

Whenever I walk Main Street I always stop by Cottage Industries. Their quality is down right the best. The variety of woods are beautiful! Great store.

it is a lovely store, but they are very deceiving about where the furniture is made and how long it will take to receive. We ordered a wine barrel table and chairs and was told it would be made here locally and would take 6 to 8 weeks. After the 8^th week we were told that it was being shipped from Atlanta GA and due to weather would take longer. That in my eyes in unacceptable and deceiving. When I questioned the owner he did not even care and just wanted to refund my deposit. But since this was a item I wanted I agreed to wait the extended time. Now they told me that the order was done and being shipped, and would take 7 to 10 business days. The 10^th business day is over and I still do not have a phone call for delivery. I will never buy anything from this store again. We are at 11 week and still no delivery.

I have always admired the furniture in this store on every visit I have made to HMB.
Beautiful wood, amazing joinery, flawless finishes… they have it all.
Sunday I picked up a small décor piece I really love… a wonderful find!
My only issue is that the staff is a bit aloof and unavailable, and I might have been overcharged a few dollars on my purchase. Small issue, but worth mentioning.

Cottage Industries is a lovely shop with gorgeous cherry and maple furniture that will last a lifetime. What’s so terrific is that it is all made by hand in the United States. Although I don’t live on the coast any longer, it’s still my GO-​to place for furniture. I expect to be able to pass down all of the furniture to my grandchildren someday and it will be just as beautiful for them as it is now. Mike and Colleen are really helpful and take great pride in their service. There is no better place to shop.

My wife and I have been stopping in this place for years. The prices are what they are but the quality is tops and if that is what you are looking for I’d suggest you consider them.
We recently bought a bed. Mike was great at point of sale… full of information and not the least bit pushy. We thought it over, called the store and pulled the trigger.
He gave us an estimated delivery date. They beat it by at least two weeks (the one we bought was hand made on the East Coast). When they got it we received a call and scheduled the delivery. They called the day before to remind us and the morning «of» to let us know they were on the way. The 9 – 11 AM window was met with a 9AM delivery. Mike came personally and gave me tips on caring for the wood and what to expect.
Quality product and top shelf service. You get what you pay for!
Oh, and we love the bed.

This furniture is the BUSINESS. You want stuff that’s sturdy, beautiful, and built to last? You’ll find that here for sure.
When you first walk in, you’ll be greeted with the nice cozy smell of freshly sanded wood… there’s something about that smell that makes me feel little again! That, coupled with the friendly staff, makes for a very welcoming atmosphere.
In addition to furniture, there are also lots of decorative items, light fixtures, etc. More than enough stuff to keep you browsing on a weekend afternoon. Unfortunately most of their stuff is priced out of our range for the moment, but for the quality, I don’t think the prices are unfair at all.

Great looking furniture and outstanding service. We bought an expensive piece that had some imperfections and they replaced it without any issues. We are very happy with it and it looks wonderful in our home.

Breathtaking furnishings for those who have the budget for top quality. I have purchased and have been given gifts of wooden boxes, a clock and a platter from this shop. Every time I go into this store I fall in love with the furniture and hope one day to edit this review when I have the bucks to furnish my home from this shop. Breathtaking.
I also find the customer service to be top notch.

I did not want to give anything less than 5 stars but when I walked in this store with my cousin and said hello to the lady that was working there she just looked and said nothing then walked away ?? Hmm your attitude will make or beak a sale. Message to the owner or worker that can‘t be bothered, when someone say‘s «hello» atleast say hello back instead of just walking away AS we did. By the way my cousin liked the furniture but was turned off so we just walked out.

New furniture is expensive. For years, I bought the cheapest stuff I could, but found that it would tear or warp or break-​down pretty quickly. As recently as 4 years ago, I bought a few things from Room and Board’s web site. Not too cheap, but not Restoration Hardware, either. None of it has lasted.
So, if you’re going to buy a piece of furniture, buy stuff that will last forever and you’ll save way more money than if you buy crap and keep replacing it. Buy one piece at a time and over the years, you’ll build-​up a good set of furniture without filling the dumps with cheap junk. In the meantime, if you can’t afford the good stuff, make the piece yourself or go to Goodwill and pay almost nothing for it. But don’t waste your time with the in-​between furniture. It will suck the life out of you.
Cottage Industries carries shaker and craftsman style furniture. It’s not cheap, but it will last several life times.
