Half Moon Bay Electric Company

First of all, we tried using Home Depot and their «Red Beacon» service to find local contractors for over a year, and we couldn’t get anyone to install a chandelier over our dining room table. We have 20′ ceilings and every electrician we talked to didn’t have a tall enough ladder. Anyway, a total waste of time. Finally we happen to pass by Half Moon Bay Electric while walking the dog and talked to Kristy. She listened and after describing our problem, she assured us it wouldn’t be a problem. So we bought our fixture and her husband (Mark) and son installed it within a couple days. Easy peasy. And in the end, I think we paid less than had we used one of Home Depot’s local contractors. I try to promote local businesses whenever I can, but they have to earn my business. I can’t say enough good things about this place.

Family run shop been around more thank 50 years! Any electrical problem/​question/​need you have give them a call. If your lucky you’ll get a same day appointment :)

about a week ago I called them and talked with Kristy, she was very nice and gave me lots of info regarding my problem and we set up an appointment for the next day, that was nice and quick !. Then she told me her Husband Mark would call me before coming over he did Mark is very friendly and explains everything to you. They took care of the problem were neat and polite, reasonably priced and most of all I love those small family type business’s where honest people treat you with respect and care about making new customers, I would recommend them … Fred

Anyone who lives in Half Moon Bay or along the coast, HAS to try this place! Response time was less than an hour. Mark fixed what I thought was a complicated circuit problem with just a few new switches. He’s fast, polite and knows his stuff. Doesn’t get better than this for home repairs!!! And since he’s local, there’s no $ 50 charge just to get here!

Had an occupancy sensor go out on a 3-​way switch. No big deal, just replace it. HAH! Had to use a different brand, the wiring was totally different. Being a complete moron when it comes to 3-​ways (switches, people), I quickly found myself in a quagmire… by the time I was done, I’d shocked my arm twice and nothing worked.
I finally gave in and called HMB Electric in downtown HMB. I knew that they had a quaint little store, but they were also listed on Unilocal under Electricians, so what the heck.
I figured, based on past electrician experience, that maybe I could get someone out in the next week or so. NOT the case. At first I was told that someone could come out the next day… this alone surprised me… less than 24 hours? Wow… I asked about a general timeframe, and after putting me on hold, she came back on and said «how about 20 minutes from now?» WTH? WOW!!!
The owner actually came out… guy named Bill (great name, that). He spent a bit of time tinkering, and came to the realization that when we built our house, the electrician screwed things up on this switch (which made me feel SLIGHTLY less moronic). He got everything working correctly (including the other switch on the circuit… I screwed that up long ago). The guy is a frickin’ genius.
Can’t recommend HMB Electric enough. AMAZING service, and gets things right. A huge thumbs up!

I visited this fun little shop to look for Half Moon Bay Art Glass, as their website directed me here. It’s a fun quaint little shop but there wasn’t as many glass pieces available as I thought there would be. When I went they had pumpkins, necklaces, ornamental bugs, & decorative little swizzle sticks you would hang outside to blow in the breeze. I did buy a cute decorative bird, but it was made in China…

Love this little place! Little/​big nonetheless, super cool place. Not completely what you would expect but worth stopping in.
My beautiful bride and I have been there a few times and continue to find this place as one of our favorite gift stops.

This is a really cool store! It’s a lot bigger inside than you’d expect — turn a corner and there’s yet another room. Tons of rad light fixtures, lamps, light bulbs, lamp parts… and beer-​making supplies. Uhmm yeah!
Someday when I can afford it, I’m buying a shitload of those glass jellyfish lamps.

I used Kirk from Half Moon Bay Electric for all of my and my clients electrical needs. I just had him install a super quiet fan in my master bath (wow what a huge difference it makes to my morning) and dimmers for alot of my overhead lights (yet again — why did I wait so long) He is friendly and has resolved issues that other electricians could not figure out — and he is reasonably priced. The only reason he gets a 4 star is that some times he takes a bit of a long time to get out to my clients houses… but we do live on the Coast so I can sometimes deal with it.
