We dropped in Coastal Arts hoping for a nice change after shopping for about an hour on HMB Main Street. Frankly, I was a bit disappointed. Coastal boasted some gorgeous prints, but the space was almost entirely made up of prints and paintings. One room, a surf memorabilia area had half of a surfboard, and a few cameras, but no sculptures or whimsical pieces were housed in the space. I had a very strong sense the rooms were thrown together, especially since the carpet clung to my shoes every step I took, unusual in a museum — which made me believe the space was temporary. I felt fairly uncomfortable with the ambiance and with the current features I probably wouldn’t come back, especially since we were never actually welcomed and there was never an explanation of the space or their goal supplied. Meh.
