Los Jalapenos

I am so glad to see justice has been served and this place has CLOSED. I must admit, as much as I hate to give a bad review, this is the worst experience I can remember having at any restaurant in my life. The service was the worst, the margarita tasted like kool-​aide (not even that good, maybe generic kool-​aide, so fluorescent it glowed), and after sitting there for 30 minutes choking down the most horrid attempt at top shelf I have ever experienced, we still had not received the MENUS. To top it off, we were the only table there, at 1pm, on a Saturday. After walking to the bar and complaining of the terrible service and disgusting margarita, we were handed a bill for 13 $, from the manager, who just happened wear hat as bartender, server, host, and most likely franchiser as well. I have never had a worse experience at any restaurant, and regardless of my excitement to drive by the newly for lease space, I had to write a review with hopes that maybe someone from the staff would come across to revisit memory of this place and see, this place SUCKED.

Have given the place several ‘second chances’, but last night was the last. Mediocre food, horrendous service. Rarely full, several servers… little service. When we first started going they were great. Has gone way downhill. Last night I asked if they had changed the queso because it was so spicy my kids and I couldn’t even eat it. The server just stared at me. I said, we have gotten this every time we come in here and it is most certainly different. Then the same sauce was poured over my meal and my daughters, therefore we couldn’t eat. No rectification on bill. Won’t be back.

The service at this location, absolutely horrid! We were doing just «ok» until just after they delivered the food. We finished eating and then sat there for fifteen minutes before anyone came back! Other waitstaff kept passing out table seeing us just sit there, one even clearer out plates.
The food, I think it was decent. The boyfriend however did not. Salsa was decent, chips were a bit stale and cold though. He got the taco salad, I had tacos.
Overall, I wouldn’t come back here again and do not recommend.

God knows I love a good enchilada, so when Faveroo offered a special for Los Jalapenos, I jumped. My GPS had some difficulties navigating, but it’s basically in the shopping center behind Meyers Jewelers & Olive Garden. Doesn’t look like much from the outside, rather they spent all their money decorating the inside. Some may not like the ultra colorful stereotypical Mexican décor, I loved it though. Add in a $ 3 marg Friday ladies’ night special & I had declared it one of the top Mexican restaurants before even looking at the menu.
I ordered enchiladas jalapenos with red sauce and black beans. Loved the enchiladas & mexican rice, but I could have gone without the black beans. I LOVE black beans & get so excited when restaurants offer them (Cuco’s does for you black bean lovers), but the black beans here were just not for me. The seasoning was not my taste and they were served in the juice. The boy got the steak fajitas & loved them as well. It looked like there were two whole steaks on it! Good prices, décor, and taste. I’d say El Vaquero has some competition growing in Grove City.
