Last time I was here, sushi was great and fresh. Service was marginal. It’s always been since it’s opening. I really thought the ‘new section’ would help the service. Was also a little offended as the owner was a bit rude to us when we walked in, regarding a big table we had reserved. Funny thing is, he lives in my neighborhood and is a family at our school.(The reserved party was for a group of MOMS from the school. Was very disappointed. Will def go back, but if this happens again, this review will go down to NOSTARS.

Overpriced With Terrible Service DONOTEATHERE. Not even order carry-out. The owners of this establishment should consider themselves failures for their indifference towards customer service and attention to detail. The food is decent… IF you actually receive the correct order and IF your experience isn’t ruined by the 90+ minute wait you will surely endure; regardless of whether or not the restaurant is full. Keep in mind this is not a review of a single experience, but rather my assessment of the restaurant as a(former) regular customer. My family has worked in foodservice for over 60 years and I can no longer, in good conscience, spend my money there.

Hire more/better help! Been waiting 40 mins now for a carry out — 3 simple rolls. So slow and unfriendly. They aren’t even that busy. I guess they have the market cornered here because the sushi is good and there aren’t many other sushi places close. But, I kind of hate to keep spending my money(and time) here. Update — waited one hour for a carry out, half hour in the restaurant, for 3 very easy rolls. Barely any acknowledgement, never took my money, I left without food. Was waiting in there with my 5 year old and they never even apologized for the wait. I won’t go back on principle.

Sloppy hostess process, horrible inexperienced service for mediocre sushi. It’s a no go. Wanted to like it, but wouldn’t recommend it ever.

The food is solid and I like how they expanded the interior. The only thing keeping me from giving them 5 Stars is the service. They were not attentive at all from the moment we walked in and even had a bit of an attitude when I asked about being seated. Our server would disappear for long stretches of time without checking in. I would have had a couple more beers if she was around. I think we were her only table. They had plenty of staff on hand. It was busy but not that bad.

Yowza. On this slow night, service was laughably bad. We ordered sake, salads, miso and 2 rolls. The rolls came out FIRST(before even the sake!) without benefit of plates or soy sauce dishes. We had to grab our own plates. After one of the guys told our server about our DIY setups, she managed to break away from what was obviously a fascinating conversation with a coworker to come and offer us a lame apology/excuse. She ran to fetch our sake(which we still wanted), while we watched the hostess have a screaming match with a cook. Maybe Blue Fin has dinner theater and they were rehearsing? The sushi was ok, and not in the«it was ok, I’d go back» way but more so in the«it was ok, I ate it because I was starving and short on time and I didn’t get sick» way. It was bland and… bland. All I really tasted was rice. Sad because it’s a cute place and close to where I stay when I’m in town, but I’ll make the trek west if I have a sushi craving while I’m here.

Just average at best. Nothing remarkable to draw us back to this little hole in the wall. Finding a place to park your car can be troublesome.

I bought a Groupon for lunch at this place a while back and finally got a chance to use it before it expired. I actually tried going twice before but they were closed for remodeling each time, so third time was the charm. It’s a nice little place off Mack Avenue, and the remodeling that is taking place — according to a waitress — is so that the establishment can be open until midnight. They addition seems like its in its infancy right now(I actually walked into that part by accident, ha) but should be done in the next couple months. Should make the place a cooler hangout. Anyway, they have a good amount of happy hour specials Monday-Thursday — as well as daily specials(like Sriracha wings for $ 7.99). The menu may be viewed as a little pricey by some, but I personally thought the prices were comparable to well-known spots like Fishbone’s or Ronin. California rolls, for example, were $ 5. Rolls include 8 pieces, in case you are wondering. Some places only include six pieces in a roll. I usually ask just to be safe. The sushi here was AWESOME. I ordered the Spicy Tuna(you can order it with a choice of mayo and scallions, or chili garlic and scallions) and the Las Vegas(Tempura salmon, cream cheese, avocado and cucumber topped with jalapeño, spicy mayo and sriracha). WOW! The rolls were good as all hell, especially the Las Vegas. The jalapeño on the top with the spicy mayo was unbelievable. The tempura was crispy and it was like a meal in your mouth once you bit through it. Just an amazing roll that I highly recommend for anyone. The service, though we were only two of five people in the place on a Saturday afternoon, was great. They refilled waters periodically and the presentation of the food and the establishment as a whole is above average. If you live in the area and are craving sushi in a more low-key joint than Fishbone’s, this fits the bill.

Started with some mojito thingy that hit the spot something fierce and tack on a couple rangoons of the crab persuasion and you’ve got a great meal. ORSOWETHOUGHT! All fin and games come to a halt when you see a mouse running under your table. The sushi left much to the imagination, especially those parts that could dream up good sushi. One was called the good life and it was not. The soy sauce has less sodium in it so at least you can live a couple more years to click back and see if the sushi here got any better. There’s a Wendy’s down the street and the W, E, and N lights are out so it just looks like it’s a «Dy’s» which is sort of interesting so you got that to look at as you shame-drive home from your bad dining choice.

I liked this place the quality was decent considering it is in MI. They have a variety of rolls, sashimi and cooked dishes. I ordered a couple rolls which were filling and pretty fresh would love to come back for lunch.

BluFin is a pretty decent little spot down in the Farms. Parking is usually a non-issue, but seating can be limited. They always seem to be running a Groupon special, so that always helps cut down on the bill. One complaint is about their open hours. I tried to visit them a few weeks ago, but was met with closed and locked doors at a time when their hours said they were open. No note or poster on the door, everything was just locked up. I’ll still be back. Nice little place.

I love this place! my boyfriend brought me here for the first time a few days ago and i was pleasantly surprised. Excellent food and service. My only complaint is that this restaurant is very small so it is a tight squeeze. However, i would recommend this place to anyone :)

I’m going to start us out by saying that I’ve never had sushi before I came to this place. I went here on the recommendation from a good friend that lives in the area. His wife told me that even people who don’t like sushi will like THIS sushi. She was right. I read a ton of stuff about how tiny this place is and to be prepared for a long wait. My wife and I set out on a cold winter’s night around 5pm on a Friday. I fully expected to wait at least 45 minutes to be seated. Lucky for us, it didn’t get really busy until about 6, so we sat right at the bar as all of the tables(all 4 of them) were taken. All of the reviews are spot on… this place is tiny. It’s cozy and not at all intimidating. Since my wife and I have never frequented a real sushi bar before, the waitress walked us through what to do. She was incredibly friendly and helpful. The food: We started off with the house salad with ginger dressing. I’m not a huge fan of ginger and every time I visit a local Japanese hibachi joint, the ginger on the salad is way too much for me. Not here. The ginger actually added flavor and didn’t try to make my taste buds revolt against the rest of my mouth. My wife and I decided to split the Blufin roll as well as the Spider roll. I was about as nervous as Kwame Kilpatrick facing jail time. I was afraid I wasn’t gonna like this stuff. Man am I glad I went here for my first sushi experience. I tried the Blufin roll first. It had spicy tuna, avocado, shrimp tempura and cream cheese topped with spicy mayo… then they lit that b! tch up… yeah…set it on fire. The flavor combination was like heaven in my mouth. I didn’t even put any wasabi on it… i wanted to taste everything as it was served. The next taste was of the Spider roll… this had soft shell crab, cucumber, spicy mayo and spring greens. The crab was fresh and the spicy mayo was delectable. My wife and I enjoyed every bite and didn’t talk(which we both do a lot) until all of the food was destroyed. I highly recommend you come here for an awesome little experience. Be prepared for a long wait. Also, if it does get busy in there, be respectful and don’t linger for too long after your meal. They do have the right to ask you to leave(when you’re done eating) in order to serve more customers. It’s understandable… the food is extraordinary. ~ pickle

I’m pretty meh about the sushi here. I ordered the spicy tuna roll(once with spicy mayo and once with chili garlic). Both times I found the roll really underwhelming. When I got it with the chili garlic, I couldn’t taste the sauce at all and I’m not entirely sure it was in there. It was better with the spicy mayo but again, kind of tasteless. My boyfriend got the fried rice with chicken and it was amazing. The chicken was crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. It was a different tasting fried rice from what I’m used to and I loved it. I could taste a lot of butter in it and who doesn’t love butter? They have online ordering which I apprciate but it took about an hour for the order to get ready on a Sunday night. I’m not sure if it would have been quicker had we just called in. The service texts you on updates regarding your order and when it’ll be ready and is very user friendly. I haven’t dined in at Blufin yet but it seems really cute and like a fun place to grab dinner. All in all, this place might curb a sushi craving but it won’t give you the satisfaction of a great meal.

I have to admit this place is a bit overpriced but the quality of food never disappoints I recommend the sushi for sure. I like the plain California roll and spicy of course. For the kids they do offer mini cheeseburger sliders which my daughter love the miso soup it is a three star rating and the crab rangoons are something not to be missed I believe it is 7 or 8 dollars for only 3 of them but they come with a raspberry dipping sauce along with wasabi dipping sauce that is to die for. My husband always gets the Mongolian beef with a side of rice and with shiny price tag of around $ 16 you don’t get very much it is definitely only a serving for one but it is very good. Not good for a crowd in the winter time but they do offer seating outside in the summer. It is worth checking out for sure if you’re on the Eastside.

My Aunt introduced me to Blufin Sushi and I absolutely loved it. My Aunt started coming here with friends and found a Groupon for Blufin and decided to take me along. The place is so small! We sat at the bar and with our Sushi we ordered they gave us so many sides. We had ordered tons of stuff to try & take home. Ahi-Tuna for appetizer(which was delicious, served with a small seaweed salad) Salmon on Fire Roll, Las Vegas Roll, Volcano Roll, California Roll, Grosse Pointe Roll. Along with all of this we still had soup and salad brought out to us. I forget if that came with the groupon or just part of each meal at Blufin. They had a few happy hour martinis that were good too. I would definitely come back to Bluefin. I just hate how small it is– we sat at the bar and we felt so crammed and rushed. Other than the size of the place, it was good and a fun atmosphere. We would come back!

Came in and my wife and I were greeted immediately. We said sushi bar after they told us 15 – 20 minute wait and they asked us to sit at the end. Just a recommendation to the owners, the end has this big lion statue and it gets in the way and takes up a lot of space on the counter. We said to the hostess, «Do we have to sit and the end?» she replied, «Yes please.» It was uncomforable because of how much space that lion statue thing took up but also because the ice machine was blowing hot air down on my face. When our server came over I asked if we could move down because I was not comfortable, she said yeah no problem just as long as you sit«In Two’s.» To avoid breaking anyone up and having a couple come in that wouldn’t be able to sit immediately. Totally understood and we moved 2 seats down. Way more comfortable. I didn’t understand why in the first place, if we were there first why we’d have to suffer at the end with the hot ice machine and a stupid lion taking up all the space for my sushi plates, etc. Anyway, we ordered a Ahi Tuna Steak which was kind of bland. My wife kind of liked it. I ordered the IDK, Spider, and a Shrimp Tempura Roll, all with no mayo. I do this because I normally find that restuarants I haven’t been to before could potentially use way too much mayo on maki/specialty rolls and it’s disgusting. The rolls were good. The service was pretty good. I just felt like after a beer, cocktail, 3 rolls, and an Ahi Tuna steak $ 100 after tip was kind of expensive for what it was.

This place deserves a solid 4 stars, forget about the other mixed reviews. At first, I was a little worried about going here, but what a wonderful experience. Yes, it is not as good as noble fish, but a great little establishment. So the service on a weekday is top notch. My water was constantly refilled, and everything came out in a timely manner. To Do: 1) MIso soup– it’s a given 2) Hawaiian poke. I could bathe myself in the scallion soy sauce, and I love the fresh cucumber texture. 3) Nigiri: Salmon, Tuna, White Tuna, pretty great. I was a little disappointed that they ran out of Toro and the Blue Fin Tuna 4) I think I had a Good LIfe roll. It was fresh, maybe needed an extra crunch to it. Get any of the seared tuna rolls. In addition, we tried a seared salmon slider and kobe beef. For even sliders, they were small in size, but the kobe beef was perfectly cooked. The salmon was overcooked. Things not to do: 1) Do not get the Americanized Asian fare– aka the Mongolian Beef or other dishes. If you don’t want sushi, I think you need to choose the Chinese establishment down the street. The hot entrée dishes weren’t that appealing. 2) Eel Sashimi– it was a little fishy The bottom-line is I would come back. This is a great alternative if you live in the gross-point area. Next time, I would ask for the Oma Kase– which you give the chef a min 30 per a person price, and he decides whatever for you. And, I can understand the frustration on a weekend– since this is a small place and I couldn’t imagine the line in prime hours. So this will be my weekday sushi venture.
