As long as you stick with the burgers, I do not think you can lose. I recently had a corned beef and swiss and it was okay, but it’s not their speciality. It is all about the burgers at Mack Daddy’s. Mack Daddy’s also serves soups, which includes a chili that is always on the menu. The times that I have been there I have seen quite a few folks ask for them. Next time I go, I will have to try a cup of something.

Owned by a Pittsburgh native, the first thing that caught my eye when I was perusing the Mack Daddy’s menu is how their«signature» sandwiches were made. You have your basic meats: ham, turkey, burger, etc. and your bread — roll, white, wheat, whatever. The craziness happens when Mack Daddy’s adds french fries and cole slaw to every signature sandwich(ala Primanti Bros.)! For example, my «Pittsburger» tonight was an 11 oz(!) stuffed burger — it was stuffed with cheddar and thick cut bacon. The burger was then covered in pepper jack cheese and topped with french fries, cole slaw, tomato, lettuce, & red onion. The cibatta roll that held this monstrosity was fresh and warm. This was an awesome burger both in size and taste(also, in its effects on my cholesterol). The ingredients are fresh. The burgers hand formed. The fries hand cut. The tater tots are hand made, too! To top it off, we brought home a piece of Hershey’s Chocolate cake(another Pennsylvanian treat) — a homemade chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and crushed Hershey’s bars in between the layers. To call this cake decadent is an understatement. Moist, delicious, and perfectly made, this was quite possibly the finest chocolate cake I’ve ever tasted. Mack Daddy’s is a pretty awesome place. I’ll definitely be back to see what else they’ll throw some fries and cole slaw on!

Each time I have stopped in here, I have really enjoyed my sandwich. The ingredients are fresh and there are some fun spins on classics. They are also the only place on the East side I have seen Piedmontese Beef burgers! They were the special, but still! Woo hoo!!!

Located in a bright yellow painted building in between a florist and a attorney’s office Grosse Pointe’s Mack Daddy’s offers patrons fresh and tasty diner food for an affordable price. Mack Daddy’s is a must for any and all that love classic dinner food with a creative touch. The menu at this itty bitty diner that seats a mere 28 people is loaded with soups, sandwiches, and salads. The sandwiches range from the classic fried bologna to baked ham and salami to name a few. Plan on coming in with a completely empty stomach as the sandwiched here are hefty and loaded with french fries. That’s right, the fries don’t come on a separate plate, they are idiosyncratically placed directly inside the sandwich. For the vegetarians, Mack Daddy’s offers several options including a killer mushroom sandwich loaded with creamy, melty cheese and ‘shrooms on crunchy, buttery bread. In addition, to 10 oz sandwiches, Mack Daddy’s offers fresh salads like chicken pesto and Cesar and homemade soups such as beef barley. The atmosphere is cute and welcoming and the service is great. I highly recommend this joint for filling lunch or casual dinner.
