This was our first visit to Greensboro and were pleasantly surprised to find this place. The food quality was excellent. We live in Boston which has a very large ex-pat Indian community. So good Indian restaurants are common. So being a bit spoiled it was really nice to find such good Indian food here. Note the interior is a bit dated and the location is in a strip mall. But the food is wonderful.

I’ve gotten takeout from Tandoor India a few times and it’s always fantastic! Ready when they say it’s ready and order is correct. I have tried — Chicken Tikka Masala — this mainstay is extremely satisfying, though perhaps not as intense in flavor as would be perfect; it’s one comforting curry. Also, they are pretty generous with the chunks of chicken which are nice and juicy. Tandoori Boti Kabab — love the tender and juicy lamb with an extremely unique flavor… may not be for everyone but I love the taste. Comes with Navratan Korma curry on the side which is amazing!!! Chili Chicken — Very generous portion and good flavor, but not my favorite item. The gravy tastes sort of like a hybrid between the usual Americanized Chinese«brown sauce» and a standard Indian curry. It’s not bad, but not my favorite. Breads are great — garlic naan is always the easy favorite. Chili pakoras have some pleasant heat and are tasty… the only thing I have flat out not enjoyed were the mixed pickles. Could just be my Western palate isn’t used to being shocked like this, but those pickles were INTENSE. I mean, this stuff makes kimchi look like oatmeal. I any case, Tikka masala, garlic naan and boti kabab are mainstays of my takeout adventures, and I’ll keep coming back for sure!

Poor customer service. The hours say they close at 10pm we got there at 8:58pm and they refused to seat us saying take out only. Won’t be back again.

I went for the lunch buffet, which was solid. I loved the fresh naan bread! the options were a bit limited, but the food was tasty. Not a bad place for some Indian cuisine.

Very dissapointed, many good spices they use in indian cuisine for the food not to be tasty at all, this cuisine os not one of my favorites and I wouldn’t make plans to eat indian food but I got impressed with Agni Restaurant even is outside the city, they make me crave for their food. Flavorful, variety and its fresh.

We’ve been coming to Tandoor for over a year. We typically do the buffet, but we’ve also ordered lunch off menu and we’ve gone for dinner. There are some inconsistencies between buffet quality and off-menu. For example, the tikka chicken masala off-menu is rich, deeply spiced, and steaming hot. The chicken cuts are also more substantial. The buffet version is thin in consistency, lightly seasoned, and included small chunks of chicken. There is a clear difference in quality here — but, this is to be expected with buffets. So, I’m not overly critical of this point. Their strengths rest on the Vegetarian dishes. I’ve had a variety of items and they’re always good. So, even if you’re carnivorous, give these a shot. You won’t be disappointed. So, in short, Tandoor is one of the best Indian restaurants in Greensboro.

Came after around 1:30p on a Saturday and both had the buffet(I think that’s all that’s available on Saturday afternoon.) We had to wait for other tables to leave, about 10 minutes. That was fine, the owner and kids were pleasant to talk to. It was reasonably priced, $ 8.95 each. We both thoroughly enjoyed the choices for the buffet… the grandmotherly lady kept bringing bowls of food to restock the buffet line. The veg dumplings were missing, but I said something to the owner and within 3 or 4 minutes, it was being refilled. Most of the food was hot, but a few things could have been hotter. I chalked it up to the time of the day — it was nearing the end of the buffet. The naan was very fresh, hot, not burnt and plentiful. Our favorite spinach and cheese paneer was delicious and a bit spicer than old Indian go-to restaurant where we used to live. I don’t know the names of all the chicken and veggie dishes we ate, but we loved them all. We didn’t enjoy the chicken tandoor, though. It was dry and tasted like it had been sitting out too long. We didn’t have any desserts, but several mugfuls of the delish masala tea! They kept the buffet area clean. The place could use a fresh coat of paint, but it wasn’t dirty. The restrooms in the back were clean, but the hallway is in a state of sheetrock and spackle. I would recommend the owners have that finished and painted asap. For the price, the food was good and the owners were enjoyable. Would come back to support their restaurant again.

Writing my first review and really felt a pressing need to for this place. I happened to be driving by to get Thai and noticed Tandoor, went in looked at the menu and decided to give it a shot. I have had Indian at a couple of places back in my home town and they have won awards, Tandoor was to me even better than there food. I had the Chicken Korma and it was awesome. Definitely going to be back.

Tried the Sunday buffet. The restaurant is boring. The selection of dishes was good and we had high hopes. Unfortunately, the dishes were not seasoned at all. How can you call a chicken as tandoori if it has been fried in masala and onions. The only things that were good were the Naan and masala tea.

One of my favorite Indian restaurants in Greensboro. They offer a buffet on the weekends at a decent price. Weekdays full menu with more than you can eat. Naam is made fresh and come in several varieties. I am not a vegetarian but their vegetarian offerings are extensive and I always end up ordering from it. Masala tea is also a must when you go as it is made in house and they give you a larger pot for refills. What I love the most is that they don’t rush you. They want you to come in and take your time. One complaint is table clothes under neath the glass protector can be dirty at times.

After seeing a positive review or two for a change, we tried this restaurant again, hoping for the best, prepared for the worst. Pleasantly, there was much more good than bad, some of the dishes seemed to be at, or near, the quality level that attracted us to this place to begin with, 4 years ago. And since the first revisit was nice, we’ve ordered from there again this past weekend — and again much more good than not. Over those 2 visits, we tried: Both Lamb and Goat Vindaloo, and both were very nice — the meat tender, the potatoes fresh tasting, and the excellent tomato based sauce was nice and spicy. The goat version is especially nice because it is cooked on the bone. Both Lamb and Goat Curry — and again very much enjoyed each dish. The curry is not as spicy as the Vindaloo, but is heavily dependent on garlic, ginger, and cumin for flavor. In each dish, the meat was very tender, which has not always been the case. Chicken Tikki Masala — this dish has also been very well prepared, with a rich, creamy tomato sauce, light orange in color. Tandoori Boti Kabab — the cubes of lamb were nicely seasoned, and perfectly cooked, no dryness, no chewiness. Shrimp Biryani — this dish was good, not great. The shrimp were fresh tasting, but the rice was rather dry, and under-seasoned. To this point, I’ve not found a Biryani dish here that was really good, really what this complex dish should be. Bhindi Masala — this is a stewed okra dish, and not one we’d order again — dry and bland. The Riata here is on the thin, watery side, and must be purchased as a side condiment for $ 1.99(not at all cool, imho). We no longer order this, preferring to make our own, using a high quality yogurt, and plenty of shredded cucumber, cumin seed, and a dash of red pepper). We also avoid the appetizers and the bread here, having found them to be very inconsistent in quality and freshness. The service here remains steady, if not spectacular, and the folks here are polite, but not especially engaging. Like almost all Indian restaurants, the only bargains here are on the lunch buffet, with most of the menu entrees going in the $ 14 — $ 16 range for rather modest portions. We almost always do take out here because the atmosphere is not especially appealing, inside or outside. Giving them 4 stars is a bit of a reach, but 3 ½ isn’t an option. We’ll keep ordering from here as long as the pluses substantially out number the minuses — as a famous movie character said — It’s Like A Box Of Chocolates…

I’m impressed! My friend and I had dinner here tonight. We split vegetable pakora to start. For only $ 3 we got a large portion of vegetable pakoras served with 3 chutneys. Perfect. For my entrée I ordered Chana Masala(Hot) with tandoori roti. The chana masala was spiced perfectly. The rice was fluffy, and the roti was soft and delicious. I knocked off a star simply because the food was a little bit too oily– but nothing terrible or inedible. This is probably the best Indian restaurant I’ve eaten at in the Triad area. It’s not a fancy dressed up Indian restaurant. It’s simple, affordable, and delicious.

Love Tandor! We always have wonderful service and our food never disappoints! My husband loves that he can alter the heat level of his food– they offer mild, med, hot, and«Indian hot». The Garlic naan is amazing! The House Special Platter is great if you want try several different appetizers! We have tried many different dishes and have loved them all!

For lunch buffet, the choices are not as many as the fancy Indian restaurant. But it is enough to fill you up. They also serve the Masala Tea… Yumm…

Went there for buffet lunch. Decently priced buffet but the quality was lacking. The tandoori chicken was dry. The chicken masala was dry too; the flavor is there it just needed to be in the chicken. The chicken curry was good though and the meatballs was amazing. Yes the meatballs had amazing flavor and it was definitely marinated in it. Really good meatballs. I’d like to see how their dinner is though. The buffet quality was expected. Maybe my review will change with dinner, we’ll see next time
