Puerto Rican –American owned business. Monk is really kind and upbeat. The Monk’s cheeseburger that I had was ok. I think I’ll shoot for the cheesesteak next time. Be aware that there’s a 5.00 minimum for card purchases so single a la carte purchases will need to be cash. I do recommend checking this place out if you’re in the area.

Me and my wife were looking for someplace different to go out and we remembered that this place opened in the same space that used to be Andys. She tried the cheesesteak and I tried the daily burger special. Both of us got the onion rings with ours as a side which was great. We typically order water but they said for some reason you could not get tapwater, you had to order a bottle water??? If we have to pay for water, we may as well get tea. Everything was delicious but for the price, there just wasn’t quite enough cheese steak there for my wife but the taste was fabulous. My burger was very good also. The staff was super friendly

We ate here tonight for the first time. I used Unilocal to find a place to eat near the Greensboro Sportsplex after my daughter’s volleyball tournament. The reviews were positive for the cheesesteaks. I checked the menu to see if they served chicken cheesesteaks as that is my wife’s favorite. The atmosphere in the restaurant reminds you of an older diner, say from the 50s or 60s. It was also very clean, with a sanitation rating in the high 90s. The service was great, from your entrance to the restaurant, to the ordering, to the serving of your food everything was fine. And the food? The cheesesteak sandwiches were awesome. We ordered three chicken and one New York cheesesteak. All were generous in portions and tasted great. Last, but not least, the owner Tito, was very friendly and courteous. He brought a touch of Brooklyn to North Carolina with his cheesesteaks. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, and we will definitely be back.

Food was awesome! Service was very good as well. Was advised to come here by a friend and would tell anyone looking for good reasonable food to go here as well.

We were on our way to the Wal-Mart and decided to have lunch at was Andy’s/Hwy 55 and when we got here we remembered that it had closed. But the location was re-opened under the name on Monks Cheesesteaks and Cheeseburger, a name that was familiar but I couldn’t remember why, my RAM is loaded and slow to recall this days. But it looked very similar to what was here before. It was New Year’s day but it was open but not busy. When we entered we were immediately greeted very warmly and told we could sit wherever. I also noted the«A» sanitation grade was a high 90’sscore so that made me feel better. The menus were at the table and I saw what I wanted, a couple of Hot Dogs w/Chili and Mustard with Fries and a Diet Pepsi, got to save somewhere. Mary had what was touted as a ‘small” cheeseburger special that came with fries and a drink for $ 5.99, but she forgot to tell them what condiments she wanted, so she got the standard with mustard, chili, and onions. And, of course a diet Pepsi. The food was served quickly and was great. The fries were cooked to order, the hot dogs had grill marks on them and the cheeseburger was messy! The server was very attentive. During the short weight, I read the menu and it stated they had been in business for 25 years, this got me wondering again. I recognized the name but could still not remember from where and now they are saying they have been around for 25 years and I know not at that location. I asked the server and she said they had been in Eden. Still no bells ringing, so when I paid I asked Tito, the owner, and he said the magic words. They had opened originally inside the Carolina Circle Mall facing the ice skating rink! That I remembered going there for hot dogs way back then. He then stated that he moved to Eden after the Mall closed but never built the following he had in Greensboro so when this location became available he moved back. In my mind a welcome return, and we shall return and maybe I will try his recommendation for a Cheesesteak sandwich! The setup is still similar to the 50’s style that Andy’s started with and as I said it was clean. My only suggestion for improvement is that they do a better job cleaning the menus, they a plastic and had food stains on them. And our overall bill was just at $ 13.00 a very good value.

Excellent cheese steaks and all 5 of my friends loved their food. This will be a new regular spot for me. Only issue is the limited choices, but great for a quick tasty burger, or cheese. steak.

On a whim, my wife and I decided to try this place out. We both had cheesesteak and it didn’t disappoint. It was hot, and lots of cheesy goodness. Fries are made to order so they came straight out of the fryer. I have yet to try the cheeseburgers but at $ 1.50 or so you can’t go wrong. Our server was very attentive and came to check on us often to refill our drinks. So I can’t wait to go back

Once I heard that Monk’s Cheesesteaks had been revived, it was only a question of how soon I’d try it out. Yesterday at lunch was it. Same folks, like all of us, a little older, and basically the same menu, centered on their cheesesteak. and burgers. I tried the Cheesesteak($ 6.99) with peppers and onions, the Carolina style Cheeseburger($ 3.99) with chili, slaw, and mustard, a Chili Dog($ 1.79), and some FFs(small for $ 1.39). The Chili Dog, with an all beef wiener, was just ok, the chili is on the sweet side, and rather thin. The FFs are not ones I’d order again, decent potato taste but limp and under-seasoned. The Cheesesteak was nice, with a lot of beef and cheese, with a soft and chewy bun. The Cheeseburger is solid, a typical diner style burger. I’d get the burger again, but would pass on the Carolina style, the chili again. Very friendly folks here giving service with a big smile.

Out running around and decided to give this blast from the past a try for lunch. They used to have a spot in Carolina Circle Mall back in the day, and then another one in Northeast shopping center so this is the third incarnation I think. Located in the old Andy’s/Highway 55 spot in the Walmart complex off Cone Bvld, it’s like the ghost of CCM inhabits the grounds. Glad this place had been resurrected. The cheese steak sandwich was 8−9in long on good chewy bread. It had a good portion of very tasty steak, a lot cheese. I had mine with onions and peppers, which were the proper jarred sweet pepper kind instead of raw bell pepper that’s so common in the South. At $ 6.99 it was a good value, very big and filling. We also had a small cheeseburger with chili, onions and mustard. The chili was very thick and meaty with good flavor that had a bit of cumin coming thru. They onions were grilled and sweet and it had nice thick layer of American cheese melted on it. The patty was thin but was still juicy with good beef flavor. At $ 1.49, I can see picking up a sack of these to bring home on a regular basis. Tried the fries and onion rings, but they were just bagged, frozen product that were fine but nothing special. I would love to see them add fresh product to really take it up a level, as this is the only thing prevents it from being 5 stars.

Monk’s is here again! Same great food(maybe even better) than I remember. Served quickly but made just how you like it the staff really makes sure you get what you want! Family owned and operated and we love that about Monk’s! The food and people are amazing here. It’s refreshing to go to a place where they are happy to see and serve you. Everyone go get your burgers and cheesesteaks from Monk’s. Their food is made with love and you can tell!
